Fight Night Round 3 Gameplay Movie 1

  1. A fantastic boxing title that really delivers the action in a realistic way for fight fans, and those discovering the sweet science for the first time on their home console.
  2. A more intelligent, defensive-minded and strategic boxing game than previous Fight Nights. The easier defence system and stance-switching give you more tactical options, while the crazy squelching brain effects make it more of a laugh when you put someone down.

Simply a great game. Even without the supreme visual polish of the 360, this is the uncontested champ.
  4. One round of the next-gen version will make you realize that graphics are a major part of sports games, so I would only recommend the current-gen version if you don’t own a 360.
  5. The most intense, most cinematic boxing game you’ll find on PlayStation 2. Fight Night Round 3 pummels players with an improved in-the-ring experience, pulling the camera closer to ensure that even stoic gamers feel the hardest hits.

It may well be beautiful to look at, but the fighting engine, although improved, is so similar to that of Fight Night Round 2 that series veterans may feel somewhat aggrieved when faced with essentially the same videogame. [Apr 2006, p.112]
  7. It does trip up on the lack of impact that a connect punch delivers, and the obvious inclusion of health/stamina bars, but for gamers not yet tainted by the phenomenal experience of Round 3 on Xbox 360, this won't be something that they'll worry about.

It is a step down from Round 2 in terms of presentation and career mode (and it's not like Rnd 2 had a great career mode itself). And the soundtrack is good, but could seriously use some more tracks. The number of real fighters leave a lot to be desired. So in those respects it is disappointing. But when it comes down to the "meat and potatoes" of the game, the gameplay itself, it shines. Rnd 3 does a good job of toning down the haymakers, or at least making it a little more difficult to pull off (you have to set them up properly and timing is key). I just hope the next installment does a better job with delivering a more compelling career mode. And it really SHOULD, seeing as how it will definitely have to comeout on all of the next generation of consoles. Expand

One online experience is enough to not wanna play ANY online games for a while. Online, created charictors just jab the whole 30 seconds that the fight lasts. Sad thing is that FNR3 had a represntitive on g4 w/kevin saying how good online play would be, fire that man. Never again should we consumers ever buy a EA game without first renting it. Expand

Terrible sequel, back to the dark days of EA's barely indistinguishable yearly updates. Offers absolutely nothing new over Fight Night 2.
