  1. If this is a genre you like or have been tempted to try out, N3 is a fantastic addition.

But for those of us who love a bit of fruity melodrama to go with our genocidal tendencies, N3's simple, responsive controls--along with the singular, satisfying thrill of netting 2,000 kills in one stage--is exhilarating. [Oct. 2006, p.80]
  3. An enjoyable gaming experience that left me wanting more but feeling empty at the same time.
  4. Most players will become annoyed and tired of the insulting gameplay and half-hearted design and put the game down for good after the first night of playing it.
  5. A reasonable action title that manages to serve a purpose on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately the game quickly suffers from issues of repetition.
  6. Disappointing. Everything about this title feels like it needs more work, from the cut-scenes to the broken A.I. of your allies.
  7. It is never made clear what the title “Ninety-Nine Nights” means. My guess is that it’s the suggested waiting period before purchasing this dangerous, infuriating, broken game.

Not the best game, but if you've never played a hack and slash game before (most of the population hasnt) then you'll love this. The mainI think this is a far better adventure than the likes of Dynasty Warriors, even though it is an imitation in terms of gameplay. The main thing is it is not just stuck in one audio language with only English subtitles to distract you from the gameplay (God...I hate it when producers and developers miss such a valid point!) The storyline in N3 is also quite good in terms of good versus evil, and how the enemy hordes have over run the land, and also how each hero plays his or her part in the whole saga. A 360 exclusive release, it was rare in 2006 to find a game which catered to gamers who were after something similar to 'too many enemies on screen' type of gaming; it showed the capabilities of the 360 at the time. The fact you can unlock more charters as the gameplay progresses is good, and each has their own storyline and fighting mechanics. The graphics are quite good for a 2006 game, but could have been slightly better. The music is quite battle-like, although I prefer a more percussion and/or guitar riff-based kind of scenario mostly. The only let downs for this game are that the characters moving from point to point can be somewhat slow (there is a dash ability but hey ho), the repetitive button mashing in most cases, the slow frame rate when the action gets heavy (although this is minimized to some degree if you install the game completely on your hard drive), and the slightly corny cut scenes (Inphy just sounds like a little girly who's sweeties have been nicked in the playground, for example). This is best played in small doses, because there is fun to be had, but doing the same combos (more will get unlocked per character as you progress) will sometimes make your hands hurt and will make you nod off. And there is Inphy's ranting and raving, dont forget. Expand
