  1. By simply making sure that absolutely everything in the game is designed to remove the usual restrictions on fun, Sumo's created something that practically transcends rivals like PGR3 and Burnout before you even done anything.

An arcade game par excellence, as inviting as the open road and just as compulsive. [Sept 2006, p.104]
  3. Instead of a sense of "been there, done that" it will be a wave of comforting nostalgia, like a sea breeze taking you back to days gone by.
  4. Sega is firmly established as one the best developers for arcade racers and you don’t need to look further than OutRun 2006 to see why.

It’s unabashedly repetitive, cartoony and not as pretty as many would like, but it’s still the most beautiful journey yet. [Mar 2006, p.96]
  6. An exceptional title; pure, simple, fun, brilliant - I simply can't lay enough superlatives around the game.
  7. Coast 2 Coast is amazing fun, and for ten bucks, you can’t go wrong.

The graphics are lush, the controls are spot-on, the music is romantic and heart-warming, and gameplay is simple yet fun. There are plenty of unlockables like cars, music and race tracks, plus quite a few player modes. I think there has been no better Outrun game since this 2006 gem SIMPLY BECAUSE THIS GAME CANNOT BE OUTSHONE (or Out-Run if you like!)...True, Ridge Racer was another cool drifting game series, but no one has ever done it in a more nostalgic, romantic and memorable way than the legendary Outrun 2006!. Without a doubt my favorite racing game of all time. Out of all the ports of this game, the PC version is hands down the best.

SEGA managed to make the only game in existence that’s better than sex.

with that said, I also love the fact that they added this sort of race mode, as well as the inclusion of the previously 8 bit tracks from the first outrun game such as the Magical Sound Shower and the Passing Breeze which deffo gives some touch to the fans of the first installment.

You can't compare this one to other racing games out there. Dan's comment is correct if you haven't played the original Outrun You can't compare this one to other racing games out there. Dan's comment is correct if you haven't played the original Outrun - the game will seem a little 'cartoony' as he put it. Since it's done in arcade style, the emphasis is on fun, not realism. But Sega are doing exactly the right thing, paying homage to the original with the same goofy feel that made it so much fun. For anyone who remembers the original, they will love it. I would have given it 9 if the menu control system wasn't so clunky. Expand

I, like many Racing game likers, have played and enjoyed the NFS series. This game is about 1 hyperbollilionth of the fun that the last NFS I, like many Racing game likers, have played and enjoyed the NFS series. This game is about 1 hyperbollilionth of the fun that the last NFS game gave me. the modes of racing this gives you are both boring and the one where you have to drive around with your virtual girlfriend shouting in your ear about your bad driving. overall: the only reason i actually layed it is that it came free with my pre-order of Football Manager 2010, a hopefully much better game.
