Hands down the most fun I have ever had on a base builder. Providing you with everything you expect and more to fill you up on your evil deeds. A true kudos to the original entry in the series, you will have your wicked way in no time and soon the world will truly be yours!

While just falling short of being towards the top of my favourite JRPG's, Bravely Default does a lot right. Its job systems and battle system are great fun and the sleep mode sailing game always gives you something fun to return to. The characters and voice acting, in parts, leave a bit to be desired and some of the environments are a bit fuzzy. On the whole you get a lot of game for your money, its an enjoyable, challenging experience and worth your time.

Pumpkin Jack is a fun, quirky 3D platformer that will both entertain and challenge you over the course of its 6-8 hour campaign. Though its platforming and camera controls can sometimes be a tad clunky, the experience is engaging enough for that to not be a problem, and you'll be far more concerned about the monsters trying to take you down. If you liked MediEvil or similar games, you'll love Pumpkin Jack.

While sometimes skirting a bit close to the line between inspiration and clone, Rogue Heroes has a lot to love. If you have a few friends to take dungeon crawling with you, you will laugh together, you will loot together, and you will have to work as a team to succeed. My boys and I got a lot of enjoyment from playing Rogue Heroes, and I think most other players will do too.

Natsuki Chronicles is a great entry into a classic genre of games. While the somewhat stale story and overwhelming options proved more distracting than positive at times, this is ultimately a title that I will come back to many times in the future.

Rhythm games are all about music, and in Tadpole Treble Encore, the music is literally centre stage. With additional and original content added to the Switch release, it feels the perfect platform for Bitfinity's musical platformer.

Near-perfect platforming, gorgeous visuals and a joy-filled soundtrack make Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury one of the best Mario titles of all time, and an essential purchase for all Switch owners.

A perfect sequel. Expanding on what worked last time, improving what did not work, adding ideas that were missing, and taking the story to places we have never seen before. As a fan of Little Nightmares, you could not ask for more.

Neoverse Trinity Edition brings the strategy of a deck-building game together with rougelite elements. Similar to a game like Slay the Spire, but with a different polish. The story is virtually non-existent, which is unfortunate, but understandable for the type of game. Purely from Neoverse’s aesthetic, the expectation is that the game will be simple, but you will slowly start to uncover a deep and multifaceted strategy game that remains fresh throughout numerous hours of play.

With hilarious dialogue and world details, the wholesomeness of these hard-working monkeys, and a variety of fun mechanics and pleasant physics displayed in it, the sum of all these parts helps to build an absolutely delightful experience for us to enjoy. And as tense as the gameplay can be, we will enjoy as many cooperative building adventures as we can handle in a lighthearted space journey, full of Bonkies, bananas, and aliens.

While The Medium does not look truly next-gen, the excellent dual-reality mechanics and storytelling prowess of Bloober Team ensure it is one of the most technically and narratively sophisticated horror games to come out in years, recalling the best of games like Silent Hill.

Cyber Shadow by Mechanical Head Games is an 8-Bit masterpiece entangled in a beautiful, dystopian world of ninjas action and deadly automatons.

Shot In The Dark really is a terrific experience for those who can appreciate their retro gaming going pre-Nintendo.

While the game does not offer anything new in terms of gameplay, Hitman 3 features the best levels in any Hitman game to date.

A fun and thrilling classic beat 'em up that is best enjoyed with others, though a frustrating single player experience and some network issues can interrupt your good time.

While some glaring struggles were noted throughout my time with Super Meat Boy Forever, it is also worth noting that I dealt with them and stuck with it as the heart of the game is incredible.

Suzerain is a compelling political drama/simulation and if you have the patience for great walls of text and often punishing decision-making, this is the game for you.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition earns my absolute highest recommendation. I cannot wait for more people to experience such a joyous celebration of all things Dragon Quest.

When The Past Was Around is a beautiful game by Mojiken about love, loss, and life. Through art and music we discover the love story of Eda and Owl, putting pieces together scene by scene by solving puzzles. It's a short, sweet game clearly made with a lot care, and a soundtrack that will be stuck in your head for days.

While still a bit rough around the edges, Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is a solid entry with excellent developer support that shows great potential.

DOOM Eternal is considered to be one of the best first-person shooters of this console generation. Jump into this fast-paced sequel to DOOM (2016), fight against the arbiters of Hell to save the last surviving humans. Now on the Switch, it’s a feat to behold, because Nintendo isn’t known for FPS’s. The quality may be downgraded and the controls clunky at times, but it’s definitely one of the best Switch ports I’ve ever played.

With a set of characters who never take themselves too seriously, or anything for that matter, and a combat system that makes Fenyx a joy to control, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a whole lot of fun.This debut outing from this IP from Ubisoft's Quebec studio has its flaws, but ultimately I want to keep playing it.

While clearly inspired by other similar titles, Monster Sanctuary takes that inspiration and runs with it, carving out its own spot in the gaming world. I can't wait to see how things flourish in the future!

CD Projekt Red has set a new standard for what can be achieved in this sandbox. Cyberpunk 2077 is taking open-world gaming to the next generation.

Per Aspera is a one-of-a-kind entry in the genre. It engages the mind and soul in a way management simulators never achieve. This is a must-have for fans of the genre and fans of quality hard sci-fi.

PHOGS! is a fantastic puzzle-platformer for all ages, combining well-designed mechanics with a bright, enchanting aesthetic. Playable alone or with a friend locally or online, there are plenty of levels to keep you busy, and plenty of collectables to seek out and invest your hard-earned bones in. Though at times the lack of camera controls and collision glitches can lead to some unfortunate demises, the experience is one well worth investing in and is not to be missed.

Visage has so much going for it as a horror experience that even the most frustrating control issues are easily forgiven. The deep themes of dread and trauma may be too much for more casual gamers who just want a good jolt, but Visage is an absolute must for hardcore horror fans looking for some substance behind their scares.

Katamari Damacy Reroll is a hugely satisfying remaster of a PlayStation 2 classic. It may be dated in some areas but the core gameplay is utterly timeless and for good reason. There is nothing else like it.

Black Ops is back and darker than ever. With a rich story and plenty of super-spy moments, this game keeps you gripping down on your controller. Always going to be compared to past titles, this iteration stands up to the challenge and delivers a whole new experience on what a Call of Duty title should be

A terrifying, visually arresting masterclass in sci-fi and horror. Observer: System Redux is more relevant now than ever and a must-buy for fans of both genres.

Part Time UFO is simple, it's cute and it's a huge dose of fun. This port of the 2018 mobile game comes with numerous additions for Nintendo Switch, and might just be the best co-op title on the console for some time.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is fun, with its many activities and a rewarding gameplay loop. There is nothing better than rocking up to a monastery with your raucous crew and robbing them blind.

Dirt 5 immediately feels like a classic off-road romp of explosive proportions. Customisation options fizzled too soon for my taste, but this is still a solid title for any arcade-sim race fan.

Fuser brings back something that has been so sorely missed this generation, something that Harmonix does better than anyone else; connecting us to the music that defines us. This game is an absolute joy.

Paraphrasing Jake Johnson in Jurassic World, the parks in this game are legit.

Ghostrunner is a high-octane adrenaline rush of a game with exciting gameplay, a great soundtrack and creative level design, however performance issues and inconsistent platforming keep it from being perfect.

An engrossing, frightening experience and may well be Supermassive’s greatest game to date.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe represents the ultimate version of the title, and even though the experience is over way too quickly, the game is easily one of the Nintendo Switch’s best titles, and a must-play for fans, new and old!

The best Watch Dogs game yet. While it’s dragged down by long load times and some repetition, Legion is a hugely enjoyable game that offers players a level of freedom that is rarely seen in this genre.

DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One offers a meaty expansion that doesn’t dramatically differ from the base game, and despite a crushing difficulty and dodgy platforming sections, it's an essential purchase for those clamouring for their next DOOM fix.

Amnesia: Rebirth is a game that asks you to open up your mind a little, just enough so it can creep through the spaces and tamper with the fabric of your sanity. If you let it in, you are guaranteed to have a great, scary time. The only thing you have to worry about is once it’s in there, will it want to leave?

The Signifier is an intriguing and enjoyable narrative-driven game that benefits from proper pacing and discovery mixed with a very interesting setting and environments.

What Genshin Impact offers for free - and promises down the line - is the best bang for your buck in gaming today.

While it may have small performance issues and a stripped back graphical style some people may not enjoy, I adored Cloudpunk. I simply could not stop playing it, I was heavily immersed in Rania's story and was taken back by how invested I got in this dank, dark world. I am even thinking about playing it no and hopping back in to mop up the remaining trophies. Right that's it, I'm off to Nivalis.

With an enchanting art style Crown Trick is a delight to play, yet is challenging and frustrating before you master its combat system.

Other than a couple of slight and somewhat comical irritations, Partisans 1941 is a fun, methodical real-time tactics game.

Team17 have done it again with another endearingly designed, vastly comprehensive fun experience. The Survivalists is one of the best crafting games that I have played and one of my favourite games of the year.

The Nintendo Switch is home to many great indie titles that have flourished and found their natural home on the console; Filament is one of these titles. A slow-burn, Filament will test your patience with its complex puzzles and steep difficulty spike later on, but ultimately is one of the best experiences I've had on the Switch.

While Star Wars: Squadrons cannot touch the depth or importance of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, this is easily the best Star Wars space sim since that game-changing classic, and the best Star Wars game of the Disney era.

Game Dev Tycoon has a wide appeal to different audiences. As well as being a great introduction to management sims, there's enough to keep long time fans interested as well. It's fun, sometimes silly in the best kind of way, and hard to put down once you get started.

Bringing together all the classic ideas with some truly essential new ones, in many ways It’s About Time is the ultimate Crash Bandicoot sequel.

Going Under is a brilliant first release from Aggro Crab Games, combining challenging gameplay, rewarding combat and a wealth of possibilities in terms of both the dungeons and the enemies. Though let down by a myriad of performance issues and bugs, fixes are promised in upcoming patches, as is a variety of post-launch content. For £15.99, you can't go wrong.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps drastically improves upon its predecessor, with stellar gameplay, visuals and music. A true testament to what the Switch is capable of, this stunning sequel is not to be missed.

Tell Me Why pushes the boundaries of video-game storytelling with its mature, open-minded approach to its themes and its pioneering representation. The inclusion of a trans lead character is vital but the story is a lot deeper than what's on the surface.

What Supergiant Games have created here is the perfect roguelike; immensely satisfying, even in failure, with an excellently-written array of characters and a compelling story. With variety of events to avoid the gameplay every becoming stale, a myriad of different weapons with markedly varied play styles, and gameplay-altering boons, Hades is an absolute joy to play. Oh, and everyone is hot, EVERYONE.

Budget Cuts looks great, plays amazingly, is well designed and a lot of fun. Barring too much time spent in load screens, I loved every second of it. It gives you the various tools you need to succeed but leaves you free to explore and work your way through the game how you wish. If you have a PSVR headset then give it a go, its a brilliant game.

Crysis still holds up as a fun and exciting popcorn style action game that is an excellent addition to anyone's library.

Despite availability issues, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is easily one of the greatest games on Switch and a celebration of some of the best Nintendo games of all-time.

Spiritfarer is a beautiful game in terms of graphics and story, with plenty of tasks to keep you busy from collecting resources, fishing, and building. It's a relaxing experience, and one many people will find comfort in.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars will not threaten any of the giants of the turn-based strategy games but for console players, it offers an accessible alternative with a fun dark fantasy twist.

Control: Ultimate Edition is a complete package of everything you could want from Remedy's instant classic - but a bit of narrative vagueness and overall lack of variety hold it back from perfection.

If you are an old of point and click adventures then you will find a lot to of charm and enjoyment in Darkestville Castle. Just don't expect the second coming of Monkey Island.

A rich story, perfect graphical elements, and frustratingly challenging puzzles make There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension a thoroughly worthwhile game.

Heroes of Hammerwatch is rewarding, fun and the gameplay loop is very intelligently designed. Every time you return from a run through the dungeons, unless it was a complete disaster, you will be able to progress your town in one direction or another. I just wish some of the game was a bit easier to see on the Nintendo Switch's small screen.

There is a very good reason why Fall Guys has taken the world by storm already; it is absurdly, addictively brilliant fun. Give in to the jelly beans, you will not regret it.

Borderlands brings a wealth of looter-shooter action to the Switch, guaranteeing you countless hours of co-op grinding as you blast your way through all sorts of alien creatures and various shenanigans. All of the original charm and humor are intact as well, and the game runs fantastic and with the inclusion of all the original DLC, you won't be getting bored anytime soon!

Röki is a beautiful tale of love, loss and friendship, taking the player on an emotional journey through a fairytale forest inspired by Scandinavian folklore. If you enjoy challenging puzzles, engaging narratives and collectible-hunting, this is the game for you - but do be warned that the ending may leave you feeling a little underwhelmed.

Carrion is very entertaining and extremely unique. Making humans whimper in fear never gets old and killing them is even more fun. I wish some of the areas were more distinguishable from each other but that's a very small issue really. If you want to play something a bit different then you won't go far wrong with this one.

Featuring genre mastery at the utmost level, Lab Zero Games have created something truly special with Indivisible. Taking such a hefty adventure on the go with the Nintendo Switch is an absolute delight.

The PlayStation 4 gets to bow out of this console generation in suitably epic fashion with this incredible title. Ghost of Tsushima sets a new standard in open-world action games with one of the best games of this generation or any other, for that matter.

Neon Abyss is colourful, bright and a lot of fun. While I found a lot of the room layouts and levels a tad repetitive, there is enough there to keep you entertained. The mini-games and weapons are great. It looks good, sounds awesome and will find a home in any rogue-like fans gaming collection.

Brilliantly authentic, incredibly immersive, F1 2020, for me, is one of the best racing games I have played for a long time. Managing your team is a brilliant addition that will perhaps entice new players on-board. The game is very user friendly, It has a massive amount of modes, features and options that will suit any type of player of every skill level. It looks good, sounds great and performs very well. Right, I am off, this F1 team is not going to manage itself.

Being Iron Man in VR is fascinating, fun and exhilarating. While the story does not match the same experience, it is an absolute blast to be Tony Stark.

Revealing itself through multiple playthroughs, Do Not Feed the Monkeys gets wilder every time, and has a ridiculous number of outcomes waiting to be discovered. Expect to spend hours glued to the screen, as you're driven by a compulsion to see these stories through to their many hilarious or devastating conclusions.

An excellent port of an already beloved title. A must buy for fans of the genre.

Beautiful in its simplicity, The Almost Gone is definitely a game that won’t appeal to everyone, but for this reviewer, it was a worthwhile experience. Some frustratingly obtuse puzzle solutions aside, the 3D point and click gaming is well-designed, and the minimalist art style fits perfectly. It also packs an emotional punch for anyone familiar with the tragic issues portrayed, which it deals with sensitively and powerfully.

Naughty Dog’s bravest, darkest masterpiece to date and one of the greatest games of this generation.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a stunning new instalment in the Animal Crossing franchise, hindered only by its lack of immediate content, quality of life issues and missing returning characters and features While future updates will give the game long-term playability, for those already sipping vacation juice on their five-star islands, island life feels pretty mundane right now.

Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade is fun, rewarding and a massive nostalgia trip. The soundtrack is amazing as are your game options when playing this group of great shoot 'em ups. I would have perhaps liked other titles instead of copies of the same game but hey, you can't have everything.

Despite some occasional framerate drops and a slightly twitchy camera, Beyond Blue is a thoroughly relaxing and educational dive through some of the most beautifully-diverse underwater landscapes on the PS4.

The Outer Worlds is a fantastic game, and the Nintendo Switch port is no exception. Despite significantly weaker hardware, the Switch port holds up admirably and will no doubt provide you countless hours of top-shelf gameplay and outer space hijinks.

The simple but captivating visual and audio design combined with the thoughtful level structure makes Jump King one of the toughest but most entertaining games I have played all year.

From Bowling to Darts, from Mancala to Mahjong, everyone should be able to find something to love in this collection. If you have friends or family to play multiplayer with, the fun is multiplied massively. It does not matter how you want to play, one console or multiple consoles the Nintendo Switch is is a perfect platform for this lovely collection of classic games. Right, where are my kids? It is multiplayer time!

With this collection you have portable versions of three classic video games. Not only that, they run, look and perform almost flawlessly. I do not know what sorcery was used to get these games to run this well on the Nintendo Switch but its a joy to behold. Right, i'm off to play Bioshock in bed.

GORN may not be the longest, most refined game in the world but it certainly has a place in everyone's PSVR collection. Its a place to unwind, a place to have fun and its bloody brilliant. With its wonky physics and bits of enemies flying everywhere it is a great laugh and fun throughout.

Maneater is a straight forward game with a novel hook (what if GTA was about a shark?) and a refusal to over complicate that idea turned it into one of the most entertaining games of the year.

It's rarely I can say this but for me The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners had dragged the VR platform forward. With its perfect VR implementation, its brilliant control scheme and its visceral combat, it a pure joy to play. A nasty, gruesome edge of the seat joy but a joy nonetheless. Brilliant.

A stunning remaster of an incredibly entertaining game, Saints Row: The Third Remastered more than justifies its existence in a world dominated by Grand Theft Auto V.

With its disposable plot and bizarre genre choice, John Wick: Hex is not for all fans of the high octane movie franchise but turn-based strategy fans will certainly get a lot out of this experience.

Pixel Ripped 1995 is chock full of clever ideas, mind-bending scenarios and very well designed gameplay sections. What goes along with that is a very well thought out VR implementation, a great control scheme and easy to understand, fun, familiar gameplay. I loved playing this quirky title, its like nothing else I have played before and I adored it.

Get packed is fun, well designed and has something you do not see a lot of these days. It is full of co-op fun and playing with people sitting next to you is amazing. You will laugh, you will cry and you will certainly enjoy yourself. Right, I best get back to the packing.

Down the Rabbit Hole was a great surprise, it is short but very, very sweet. It controls beautifully, its incredibly well designed and everything just works very well. This is very important in VR games and this title suits VR perfectly. Its bright, colourful and not too taxing. So why don't you take a little glimpse into a land of uncanny fantasy? You will not regret it.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, then, is not only the best Pirate Warriors game to date - as you would expect - but maybe, just maybe, the best Musou game available at the moment. Despite the reused story assets that may cheapen the experienced for seasoned Pirate Warriors vets, Omega Force once again prove they are the kings of their craft with this glorious, delicious slice into anime mayhem. Sit down, Hyrule Warriors. You aren’t the pinnacle anymore.

Streets of Rage is an excellent and well made game. Whether your a fan of the series or a newcomer, it is fun and addictive experience. The developers did a great job of making it feel like the old games but also make it have a fresh and updated feel to it. Right i'm off to beat some more people upside the head with a pipe.

Moving out provides a lot of laughs and whilst being widly fun and has a great style, it isn't anything groundbreaking.
