    Kirby Star Allies
    Kirby Star Allies sees the pink resident of Planet Popstar debut on the Nintendo Switch in a game that is fun but somewhat lacking in challenge. If you are looking for an entertaining platformer that can be enjoyed by all the family then this game is the perfect option. The Nintendo Switch has been a haven for some of the greatest, taxing indie platformers recently - Kirby Star Allies provides a pleasant palette cleanser for both young and old to enjoy.

    Darkest Dungeon
    Outlined by its lovecraftian narrative themes and gloomy 2D art style, Darkest Dungeon breaks standard RPG conventions to deliver a challenging adventure about everlasting physical and psychological scars. With the overlapping affliction system and deep turn-based combat, every run becomes a tense thrive for survival.

    It's a shame to report that this one's a disappointment. All of the excitement that should have been is replaced by turn-based u-turns, trying to get into a position to shoot the opponent. Avoid.

    Billiard is a run of the mill take on traditional billiards games. Unfortunately an uninspired presentation and lacklustre on the table gameplay mean that really only those truly desperate for some pool action on the Switch should consider this.

    The blend of visual novel-esque storytelling combined with surprisingly deep RPG based combat result in an engaging and substantial fantasy adventure. A great execution of the old school choose your own adventure games and a perfect fit for the Switch.

    Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is a fantastic evolution of the core Pac-Man formula, delivering addictive gameplay at blistering speeds. With such a sharp focus on high scores, I guarantee you'll be coming back to this one again and again.

    The Fall Part 2: Unbound
    As part 2 of a trilogy, The Fall 2: Unbound is not afraid to mix things up from the original. It keeps the core interface from the original while redesigning itself into something new. Come for the puzzles and stay for the emotion. I cannot wait to see how the story ends.

    Crypt of the NecroDancer: Nintendo Switch Edition
    Crypt of the NecroDancer has risen once again to bring a hefty amount of rhythm action goodness to Switch. If this is your jam, then its definitely worth picking up again for portable and local co-op play. If you haven't played before and aren't sure if you'll dig it then the Switch version is a content-rich way to give it a whirl and find out.

    Draw a Stickman: Epic 2 is a charming little papercraft puzzler that offers players the unique ability to personalise their story creatively, even if the campaign is quite brief and some problems leave you scratching your head for too long.

    Millie is a charming puzzle game which can hold your attention for hours, not least because some of its levels will take you that long to solve. With bright, colourful visuals, enchanting background music and some complex mechanics for an indie puzzler, Millie is well worth its £4.49 eShop price - though it does have faults in its controls and its progression requirements.

    Sky Force Reloaded offers your standard arcade shooting fair, but it doesn't do a lot that your old NES was't capable of. That's not a bad thing if vertical SHMUPS are your thing, of course.

    Ten years in the making and certainly worth the wait, Owlboy is a fantastic platform/adventure game that succeeds in making you care about the game's characters through a great tale of an underdog (or owl) wanting to prove himself to those who doubted him. Looking for a new indie game? You'd struggle to find one as well designed as this!

    Night in the Woods is a special game and a must-have for the Switch in 2018. With some of the most well executed, naturalistic dialogue I've ever seen in a game, it's an experience that is different, but up there alongside some of the greats on the platform so far.

    Azkend 2: The World Beneath
    Azkend 2 is a puzzler which is addictive and retains your attention with the use of mini-games to break up the puzzles. With sixty boards to solve altogether, it doesn't outstay its welcome, but I fear it may be hampered by Switch's dense pool of games from the same genre on the eShop.

    Star Ghost
    Star Ghost is a great example of a simple idea executed well. It’s very easy to pick up and play and does feel very rewarding. As a portable-only game, you can probably add a little onto the score, but as a console experience, it just doesn’t have enough to keep you occupied for too long. It’s a good game, it’s just not anything you absolutely have to own.

    Bayonetta is a stellar action-adventure game oozing with style and substance from start to finish. Newcomers may be put off by the portrayal of its title character, and the visuals are definitely starting to show their age, but the gameplay remains consistently brilliant throughout. A must-buy.

    This isn’t a game for the faint-hearted. It’s a challenging action adventure which forces you to use physical and mental dexterity in equal measure. It wields nostalgia and innovation with laser precision, creating one of the most fun and inspiring games that you will have the chance to play. If you want an excellent adventure platformer, then it would be a disservice not to own this game.

    It's minimalist, but it is challenging. Qbik is a game that requires a lot of thought. If you dread games where your brainpower is fully engaged, it won't be for you, but otherwise there's no harm in giving this a go.

    Physical Contact: 2048
    Physical Contact: 2048 boasts a number of game modes and customisation options, but lacks those which matter the most. Though the various score-based levels and time-attack challenges are fun, they're soon completed, and when you can get the original mobile game for free, paying £4.49 for this will only ever be a highly-regrettable decision.
