If you're not a fan of the genre, the straight-up approach to shooting aliens may struggle to maintain your interest over time. However, casual and hardcore fans will discover a challenging and insanely fun shooter.

At around a fiver, Another Lost Phone is certainly worth the experience, particularly if you've not tried an investigative game of this kind before. It's a one-time experience though - once you've played through it once, there's nothing new to find out.

198X is a nostalgic but incomplete-feeling tribute to Eighties games and their influence. Each of the five genres included is unique and equally stunning, as are the cut-scenes. The problem is that it ends quickly and without exploring each style to the fullest.

Once you get past the dated graphics, slow RPG gameplay, and wonky (but improved) PC-to-console controls, you will find one of the better stories available to you in gaming in each of these titles. A worthy place for fans of the original releases to return, as well as for those paper-and-pencil gaming aficionados.

Bob Help Them is an easy to pick up and put down little strategy game that marries the relaxation of a farming-sim with the frantic pace of a countdown timer. 35 levels, 6 NPCs, and 105 stars, this game is perfect for bus rides.

Super Destronaut DX-2 is about as colourful and manic a 2D arcade shooter as they come. What it lacks in content and competitiveness it more than makes up for with great style and tactile feedback.

Packed with fan service and with a huge amount to do, it’s difficult to dismiss Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. It can get repetitive, and the story does drag a little, but comic book and Marvel aficionados will enjoy it nonetheless.

The Sinking City does atmosphere and immersion really well, and we like that a lot. It doesn’t do its combat and handling as well, though, or it would be getting a higher score.

As a Warriors game, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe Edition comes a somewhat repetitive hack n’ slash combat that doesn’t do much more than empowering the player. However, if you’re a fan of the anime, you’ll be able to relieve the best moments of Luffy’s adventures as a beautiful game with tons of content to keep you hooked for a very long time.

This Strange Realm Of Mine bridges the gap between art and video game with mixed success. It suffers from having a bit too much going on, but for those with an open mind, you’ll find an experience here worth having.

Golf Peaks doesn’t exactly turn the puzzle genre on its head, but it does offer a plenty relaxed gameplay experience. A perfectly passable puzzler that’s good to pick up in short bursts.

Arena of Valor is one of the best of the few MOBA games on the Switch. If you’re looking for something fun but want something that isn’t a complete time-sink, then this game is for you.

Star Renegades takes inspirations from different sources to create an extremely engaging turn-based RPG, encapsulated with a beautiful pixel-art style. Unfortunately, constant performance issues take away some of its shine.

Say No! More is a brief title that makes up for underutilising its core mechanic with some hysterical moments and a lot of heart. If you could do with a game to cheer you up after a hard day, don’t say no to this one.

It plays a cracking game of tennis, both with simple mechanics or the enhanced ones and you'll certainly have fun with friends. For the solo player, you'll breeze through the tournaments with ease, though, and that Adventure mode is one of THE most infuriating gaming experiences I've ever encountered, which is a shame.

Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea DX culminates this trilogy into an experience I can finally recommend. If you’re looking for a good Atelier title, then look no further, but JRPG veterans will still probably find it too simple.

Die For Valhalla! is a nice evolution of what 2D side-scrollers can be. Mixing in frantic action, charming visuals, and some surprisingly flexible approaches to action that always looks great and feels satisfying.

Best Friend Forever is a short and simple visual novel/simulation game, but that doesn’t make it any less fun. The interactions with your furry friend don’t get boring fast, and the interactions you have with the characters are just as engaging.

It's all become a bit paint by numbers with LEGO styled games, but what's on offer in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is enjoyable. There's plenty of content and Marvel fans young and old will no doubt enjoy it.

Help Will Come Tomorrow is a challenging game that brings some fresh ideas to the survival genre. If only it had a little more variety to its gameplay as it begins to feel like ‘Groundhog Day’ the longer you play.

Gear.Club Unlimited is never going to cut it if you’re in the market for a portable Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo, but if treated like an arcade racer which you can pick up and put down liberally, you’ll absolutely find some lasting enjoyment with Eden’s racer. With lots of variety on tracks, championships, cars and upgrades, the value of the overall package becomes more desirable every time you boot it up.

Good Job! is another left-field Nintendo idea which offers fun and charming puzzling action. It’s not flawless, with some irritating controls and things having a tendency to find themselves stuck. But it’s certainly worth having.

Vectronom is an adrenalin-pumping, mind-bending experience which provides a fun challenge for the duration of its relatively brief length. Thanks to that brevity and the slap-you-in-the-face presentation, Vectronom is a fantastic palate cleanser to enjoy between meatier offerings.

Bullets Per Minute is an addictive game that will keep you coming back for more punishment even once you’ve completed it a few times. There’s fun to be had regardless of how much time you’ve got to spare.

The Raven Remastered is a classic whodunit story, with a genuinely intriguing plot and some great voice acting, particularly from the lovable lead Zellner .The load times may be intrusive at times, and I don’t really know what’s remastered about it (Other than some lighting effects maybe?), but its accessible gameplay make it one to recommend to any friend or family member that may be into their crime fiction.

If you can ignore heavily downgraded graphics for the sake of playing a game on the go, Last Stop can present you with an anthology of three different narratives that are fun, dramatic, and weird in very unique ways.

Overall, Sam and Max: Beyond Time and Space on Switch is the best way to play this hilarious point & click adventure. The updates are just enough to make it feel like a newer release and whether or not you have played the game before, you won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful, serene, and joyous, Planet Alpha is a 2D puzzle-platformer that's optimistic outlook on space travel won't fail to keep pushing you forward.

FoxyLand 2 is clearly an improvement over the original, albeit with much more difficulty. With forty levels of short length, it’s quite feasible to tackle the whole thing in two or three sittings, but the platforming is good, and feels more fair than it did the first time.

While a little bit more challenge in the coffee-making itself would have been beneficial, Coffee Talk presents a relaxing, stylish interactive story experience, serving up a slice of life in a fascinating world that’s similar to our own, yet wildly different.

The Spectrum Retreat could very well pass for one of Aperture Science's many testing chambers, and that's a big compliment for a sole independent developer's debut. With a creepy, intriguing narrative with multiple endings, the game doesn't do anything we haven't seen before, but still comes highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Blanc is a unique, engaging experience with a few flaws in its approach to puzzles and controls. Still, the overall presentation and storybook feel should reward players looking for a relaxing co-op with a like-minded partner.

Pioneers of Olive Town is its own worst enemy, tightening and unravelling in equal measure. What’s left is a farming simulation game that hasn’t yielded the best harvest just yet. More sunlight and a drop of water could do it, though.

An imposed grind, disappointing Towers and Krypt mode, and a severe drop in visual quality bring down what could have been the best Mortal Kombat experience to date. That said, the story, as well as the actual fighting, is the best it has ever been.

Jumping Joe! & Friends is an entertaining endless runner-cum-platformer that promises hours of fun. Whether alone or with a friend, you can always find new challenges. Just be aware that the gameplay - as should be expected - can feel repetitive after a while, and the brightly-coloured graphics can be a strain on the eyes after a prolonged playing session.

Battle Hunters takes the classic real-time strategy formula of classic RPGs, blending it with a generous roster of quirky heroes. Finding and levelling them all up takes time, but is the perfect basis for multiple sessions of short burst play.

99Vidas - Definitive Edition takes inside jokes and gaming references and transforms them into a classic beat 'em up experience. Despite becoming a bit monotonous with time, it has plenty of content that can be enjoyed with friends.

The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters is a memorable, atmospheric adventure, even if it is often a little too dark for my liking. Expect to feel a sense of dread as Dark Song chases you down, and the sound of her footsteps will never fail to send a chill down your spine.

Cake Bash nails its aesthetic, but while the quality is there, there isn’t a great quantity of content, so the experience gets stale quickly. Still, with local and online multiplayer, it remains a perfect quick pick-me-up – especially for families.

Much like Kairosoft's previous titles, Dungeon Village is an accessible management title that oozes charm. It lacks depth, however, and the music can become extremely grating.

Color Zen is a truly relaxing puzzle game, offering light entertainment and relief from stress and anxiety when you need it most. With bright, colourful graphics, enjoyable music and quirky animations, it is definitely worth a try – especially as the game is free to download.

51 Worldwide Classics is the poster child for the quote ‘less is more.’ By omitting some of the less engaging titles, the opportunity to develop some of the others in more detail would have presented itself. As it is, the ‘classic’ collection leaves something to be desired whilst still retaining all that we enjoy about Nintendo. That being said, a solid online experience will provide ample good fun for the masses, and a score will be given upon the release of Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics once the online elements have been tested fully.

Liberated is a game with a story more relevant now than ever, and an intriguing comic-book style aesthetic, it’s just a shame that this version comes with way too many bugs and frame-rate issues.

SNK Gals’ Fighters repays whatever effort you’re willing to put in. It’s a full-featured package with lots of well-polished fighting action and surprising depth to its diminutive setting. It’s just a crying shame about the lack of online.

Rooms: The Adventure of Anne & George will be great fun for fans of the first game, and is an easy entry point for those who never played it. It's good for pick up and play, but a bit heavy to take down all in one sitting.

If you think ragdoll physics are more amusing than annoying, then Human: Fall Flat will be one of the funniest playgrounds you can ever find on Switch. By allowing you to play with objects, mechanisms and all the physics that comes with that then you'll enjoy Human: Fall Flat's fun, if wonky experience.

Persona 3 Portable is an entertaining JRPG that is quirky and a little bit dark. The friendship and romance simulation gameplay is interspersed nicely with the battle elements and will keep many-a-gamer entertained for a multitude of hours.

With a mysterious narrative about an unsettling old manor and its inhabitants, Goetia feels like a classic point and click adventure, but it has many quality of life improvements, which makes it worthwhile for any fan of the genre.

RICO won’t blow your mind with a gripping story, complicated characters and a questionable love triangle. What does do is provide a grab ‘n’ go title that’s fun to blast through with a friend on and offline with enough to keep you going for a decent amount of time.

Flood of Light is a challenging but clever puzzler. Some of its tougher puzzles require some head-hurting thinking, but at least a plot twist at the end is strong reward.

Hexologic is a simplistic, relaxing puzzler that combines its calm music with some pleasing aesthetics and rewarding design. Whilst this does mean that it can be relatively easy to complete, it's cheap and makes a nice companion to watching TV or listening to a podcast after a long day. At such a low price point, it's hard to say no to another mobile game enhanced on the Switch.

My Memory of Us will perhaps be better remembered for its visuals than its gameplay, owing to some frustrating controls. It’s good enough to warrant a place in your Switch collection, though.

With a rewarding gameplay loop and charming aesthetics, The Colonists is a simulation lover’s dream. There are perhaps too many systems and not enough guidance, but once it clicks you’ll have a blast watching your robot explorers build your own settlements for hours.

Whilst the muddled story that immediately assumes you know the lore found in previous titles limits the draw of the campaign, Fate/EXTELLA LINK easily provides a surprisingly deep, content-rich adventure that is certain to become a time-sink should you let yourself go unchecked.

Banana Mania takes the best Super Monkey Ball games and combines them into one solid package. Frustrations from those original games remain, and the lack of online play is a disappointment, but new options allow for a less stressful time.

There’s a lot to do in Sniper Elite V2 Remastered and it’s very well presented, and addictive. It might get old quickly – essentially executing the same play repeatedly – but you’ll definitely have fun whilst you are doing it.

Come for the combat, stay for the narrative. Omensight: Definitive Edition presents a competent but monotonous hack n’ slash combat style. This title stands out thanks to its mysterious narrative, which always helps in giving a game personality.
