Silent Hill 2 Remake is a bit like Alan Wake 2 – also a very ambitious horror game with a lot of flaws. However, I give credit to Bloober Team: I think Bloober Team did their job better than Remedy Entertainment.

Probably one of the best survival simulators out there. But please ignore the single-player campaign — it’s too shoddy and even less exciting than those simple challenge missions.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is better than the first installment in terms of gameplay and narrative. But unfortunately, developers have created primarily a linear game. The open world and all related things are rather attached as an extra.

Beholder lacks the elegance and atmosphere of Papers, Please, and you won't be replaying its short campaign too often, but these almost real characters and gut-wrenching decisions you'll make to turn their world into a living hell, are absolutely worth your time.

At times, The World Before failed to impress some of its important plots upon me. The narrative is so rife with small inconsistencies that you can't help but notice them, and character models look so poor against those luscious backgrounds. But the more you get engaged with this seemingly simple story, the more you want to find out how it ends.

Despite the weak diplomacy layer and clumsy UI, Civilization 6 as a whole outshines its shortcomings.

Modern Storyteller did right by rewriting its popular mod for a new world. Aside from some rookie mistakes and an apparent lack of budget, the story is exciting and memorable, and I really did not want to leave this cursed city. I definitely wouldn’t mind a few additional quests.

A good game, but not a masterpiece, The Red Strings Club has a lot of ”Chekhov’s guns” that never fire a shot, and reveals a huge twist 5 minutes before the credits roll. I like the concept of this twist, but it appears without rhyme or reason. Still, you will feel a surge of emotions when the game will ask you to make that final, heard-shredding choice.

Trudograd is not as varied and expansive as I expected, but, all in all, it’s a very decent role-playing game and a notable improvement over the original Atom RPG.

No Time Left is Telltale's best effort to date. It has the longest heart-to-heart talk in the entire game, the most exciting action sequence featuring Lee, a hatchet and a horde of zombies, and a quiet, emotional climax.

Dirt Rally 2.0 will not become a cult hit like Colin McRae Rally 2.0 did. Still, if you’re tired of the original Dirt Rally, don't miss this sequel — decent rally simulators are a very rare breed these days.

Modest visuals, weird camera behaviour (it follows all four characters at once, so you can’t get very far from other players) and connectivity troubles are pretty much the only shortcomings of this otherwise fantastic game. If BetaDwarf quickly fixes the bugs and starts churning out new challenges, this will be a must for all fans of cooperative games.

It feels as if Frozenbyte created this colorful, riveting platformer to prove to us and themselves that this series is far from over. The fate of Trine does seem bright, but the developers should really stop reusing their past ideas.

Just like any other decent 4X game, Age of Wonders 3 truly shines when you play on random maps, rather than scenarios. They are much more fun to explore, and the whole diplomacy mechanic suddenly makes sense.

The amazing art direction and style are on double duty in The Last of Us, because the game’s designers did not think its universe through. Yes, monsters are not the focal point of this story, but only three types is too few for a campaign spanning 12 to 15 hours. There are also human bandits, but a few encounters – and you’ve seen them all.

If you're really craving a new global RTS and you're a big fan of the Victoria series, you can give Europa Universalis V a try right now. But it's better to wait: it won't reach its full potential for at least a few years.

Bungie dropped the ball on loot in Destiny 2, but even despite this and some other jarring drawbacks, the game is solid. It amazes you with excellent shooter mechanics and smart enemies, blinds you with colorful explosions and splashes of super abilities, enthralls you with breath-taking vistas and intricately designed weapons. Even the dumb story has a flipside — you will laugh yourself to tears playing the campaign with your fire team mates.

Art of Rally is an opposite of a hardcore rally sim; it requires very little effort and revels in its meditative approach. Drive, listen to pleasant electronic tunes, enjoy the scenery. But I wish there was something more besides career mode, because when it’s over 20 hours later, you’re done.

Like Jason Statham’s character in Crank, Doom Eternal needs adrenaline every waking second. So long as you drown hordes of demons in their own blood, it feels like a perfect GOTY contender, but during quiet moments, Doom Eternal withers and forces you to ponder unpleasant questions. id Software needs to course-correct, otherwise we’ll be playing Super Doom Slayer’s Bros in a few years.
