The best way to enjoy Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is to treat it like an interactive movie. Just don’t expect any scares in this otherwise impressive drama.

Metal Gear Solid V is amazing at times, and I enjoyed playing it, but there are so many embarrassing blunders and contradictions. Rich tactical gameplay vs an almost dead world. Fun HQ management and interesting characters vs an unfinished narrative and boring side quests. In some regards, this is a huge step back from previous Metal Gear games.

Masters of the World is a must for anyone who likes fantasy turn-based strategy games. Get it, but don’t play it just yet – wait a few weeks before the developers iron out the kinks. Judging by the speed at which they churn out new patches, you won’t have to wait too long.

A fun, addictive TD strategy game. The story campaign could have been a tad more challenging, but, thankfully, there is a plethora of additional gameplay modes.

A nice short fairytale. There is nothing particularly clever or inventive about it, but you can’t help but enjoy playing it.

Zombie Vikings is the first beat-‘em-up game where the story and jokes are so good that they make you slog through its tedious combat.

The sequel is mostly an expanded and improved Nioh, with more complex combat mechanics and new challenges for the veterans, yet it's surprisingly accessible to casual players. Yet it fails to correct past mistakes, and you would be hard pressed to see any transformative changes in the game’s formula.

It’s a genuine handheld blockbuster, complete with cool scripted sequences, loud explosions, and surprisingly nice graphics for Vita’s not-so-top-notch hardware.

The official description of Road 96 promises “thousands of roads across the authoritarian nation of Petria.” One might think that this is a truly non-linear game with a highly replayable campaign, but in reality you’ll get one full playthrough, with maybe a smidge more. Still, this playthrough, despite some flaws in logic and overall simplicity of the game, will bring you joy and a dozen awesome songs for your playlist.

A bit more polish on the story, better attention to technical details and improved camera/editing would have turned it into a masterpiece. Still, this solid interactive thriller is absolutely worth one full playthrough.

Too much hand-holding, some glaring omissions in the narrative and its somewhat weak AI do let Deathloop down, but still, it’s a rare and exciting game made for both fans of Corvo Attano and those who never set foot in the Empire of the Isles before.

Inscryption does a lot of things right. At the same time, the abundance of superfluous elements upsets the internal harmony of this game.

Kirby Star Allies rarely dazzles with innovations and is short enough to finish it in one bite. Still, it’s, most definitely, a victory dance for Kirby.

Annoying glitches, barebones backstory and simplistic painting mechanics do no credit to Eastshade, but still, this is a rare truly charming "walking simulator" as well as a perfect opportunity to visit a faraway land if your vacation is months away.

No matter how much content is recycled here, New Super Mario Bros. U is a gem in Wii U’s launch line-up. Problem is, there is nothing that sets it apart from a long line of its predecessors.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is a good game and it’s better than its predecessors in some aspects, but I can’t help but feel that this is as good as it gets. And the design of the campaign feels a little bit tired.

Infinite Warfare has a lengthy list of things that should be fixed, but that being said, for the first time in many years I enjoyed playing a Call of Duty game.

Carrion has a handful of annoying shortcomings, but it perfectly depicts everyday life of a scary alien creature from a horror movie, and that’s a monumental achievement by itself.

A fun, sad, scary and charming adventure that opens so many doors. It borrows a little too much from Sunless Sea, though, and the train management system is a boring chore.

Ace Combat 7 is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea — even though its impressive single-player campaign is packed with exciting action, the multiplayer part feels like an afterthought, and the quirky story has way too many cliches.

MechWarrior 5: Clans feels more arcade than MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. For example, the AI of opponents is primitive. But more or less serious games about giant walking robots are rare these days, so I played MW 5: Clans in one breath.

Even though Shadows of Valentia lacks some of the cool ideas from the previous installments in the Fire Emblem series, this tactics game is very addictive. It’s head and shoulders above the dull Fire Emblem: Fates.

Tales of Berseria is too archaic in its game design and visuals to be a mass-appeal JPRG. Still, if you're looking to play a modern representative of this genre, keep in mind that you can easily find a better-looking game, but you won't have as much fun playing it as this one.

In many aspects, Elex is a blast from the distant past — antiquated, clumsy, and half-baked. But even with all that, I would often find myself pulling all-nighters in its weird world.

Non-linearity is the key feature of Sir, You Are Being Hunted, but your range of clever tricks is limited, even though old buildings are crammed with things. Here, freedom is of a different kind, the one that is rarely seen in other video games – you pay for each of your mistakes.

The Bridge is a great treat for fans of M.C. Escher-style labyrinths. It is not dry and repetitive as Echochrome, but at the same time, unlike the unpredictable Antichamber, follows a set of internal rules. Smart, stylish, exciting.
