Burning Shores shows what the PlayStation 5 is capable of, tells a logical sequel story and adds improved gameplay elements. That was all it took: Horizon Forbidden West was already a fantastic game, so why not want more of (almost) the same?

The love for Advance Wars oozes from this remake. The adjustments are subtle but tasteful and the new designs of the COs and units are among the best in the series. In terms of content, this package is worth the full price.

Minecraft Legends is a good but simple strategy game that is perfect for beginners. The world of Minecraft is well conveyed in all its glory and the balance between building and demolition makes long lasting battles a legendary story to tell.

Dead Island 2 improves on its illustrious predecessors in almost every way, while retaining strong points such as atmosphere, setting and gameplay loop. The fact that the game sees the light in this state after almost ten years of trouble-ridden pregnancy is only inferior in wonder to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.

Tchia has an open world that is full of fun music, creative activities, cultural challenges and a good dose of (dark) humour. As fun as turning into pooping birds, tasty coconuts or explosives is, it just doesn't gloss over the stretched checklist story, poorly fleshed out characters and bugs enough to make it fun more than once.

In addition to improved graphics and smoother controls, a lot has really been added and changed to Resident Evil 4, from subtle extras to major, radical adjustments. The classic from 2005 has been modernized in such a way that it is actually more fun than most Resident Evil games and many, if not all contemporary survival horror games.

Horizon Call of the Mountain isn't quite the game I expected and gameplay-wise it wouldn't be as engaging on a screen, but as a VR game it's a must-have experience and so much more than a simple tech demo. This tastes like more!

Atomic Heart is a love letter to BioShock, but the setting is unique enough and the world crazy enough to stand on its own two feet. Great action, world building and storytelling are unfortunately interspersed with mechanics that take the flow out of the game or are completely unnecessary. Not to mention some nasty, edgy comments and the oversexed robots. Developer Mundfish could have limited the size better, because behind the multitude of disappointing elements lies a fantastic game.

Wild Hearts is most fun when it's fair and unfortunately that often requires multiple players. Monster Hunter players will feel right at home in the world of Azuma, but will still be surprised by the innovative and constantly evolving Karakuri system. However, the high degree of difficulty, technical flaws and the uninteresting story will mainly scare off newcomers to the genre.

Underneath the beautiful presentation lies a great JRPG that unfortunately lingers a little too much in its old glory. Being nostalgic for the past is super fun, but things like the random encounters, the turn-based battles and the story have really gotten better in modern RPGs. I also expect that from Octopath Traveler 2.

Hogwarts Legacy is without a doubt the best Wizarding World game ever, but one that borrows a lot from other RPGs and contains a lot of technical flaws. For Potterheads, that won't spoil the fun, and a surprisingly action-packed game awaits that confirms that you don't need Harry Potter for a nice piece of magic.

Deliver Us Mars needs polish, and despite adding some extra gameplay elements and a little more freedom over its predecessor, it's still not a gamers' game. However, the story and epic setpieces make up for it.

Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake is a colorful, creative and funny platformer that will keep any yellow sponge lover entertained for hours. Despite the one-sided side missions and weapons arsenal, exploring the seven absurd and recognizable dimensions is fun for both young and old.

Dead Space is an unmitigated classic, one of the best survival horror games ever, and this remake is on a par with the Resident Evil 2 remake. Not only the graphics, but also the gameplay mechanics, story and overall presentation are quite improved, in a subtle and sometimes rigorous way. Everything that was already brilliant (and that is a lot) has been left intact.

Forspoken has a great combat system, a cool way to move through the game world, minuscule loading times and is presented in an acceptable way. Unfortunately, the weak dialogues, the much too short story and the soulless open game world full of repetitive activities mean that the mediocre level is only surpassed at a few moments.

I would have preferred the cute anime designs and simple story after Three Houses, but otherwise Fire Emblem Engage is familiarly good. The maps in particular are very strong and offer enough challenge for the very strong Emblem Rings.

Graphically, High on Life is perhaps the least impressive that came out this year and in terms of gameplay, it's about as original and innovative as Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, released in 2005. But this game holds its own because everything is soaked in Roiland's absurd humour, from the tutorial to the weapons and details. It's amazing how many interchangeable, goo-covered enemies you can shoot as long as an annoying space creature circles around your head and whines about its mother in a squeaky voice.

Crisis Core Reunion falls short of the level of FF7 Remake. However, it is a very good remaster of the PSP game that was painfully outdated in some areas. Anyone with a penchant for Final Fantasy 7 should not miss this.

The Callisto Protocol is very happy to make the comparison with Dead Space, but apart from the graphics and acting performances, it does not improve its formula in any way. Callisto is beautiful, but feels lifeless and contains too little world-building. The combat is too scripted and the story starts way too slowly, and more importantly, the game is rarely scary. It is therefore a moderate warm-up for the Dead Space remake.

Midnight Suns is a little Persona, a lot of Dragon Age, maybe just a little less XCOM than you'd hope and a good dose of Marvel love. It's a mix of spectacularly delicious game ingredients under a layer of slightly aged graphics that will keep fans of superheroes, RPGs and turn-based tactics completely enthralled for dozens of hours. The indirectness of the battles and the excess of dialogues is probably not for everyone, but for this Marvel-loving XCOM fanatic, the smack dab in the middle hits a very specific spot.

Somerville is a beautiful game that will keep you glued to your screen from start to finish, thanks mainly to excellent camera use and a finger-licking art style. That makes the game worthwhile despite its short duration and disappointing puzzles.

Pentiment is an unconventional masterpiece. Those who embrace the game - despite its slow start - will be presented with a compelling story with absolute world-class writing and a touch of humor. The game grabs you by the throat and won't let go until the credits roll across the screen.

The Devil in Me does not reach the level of its predecessor House of Ashes, nor that of Little Hope. The plot lacks twists and some time-honored The Dark Pictures problems are still present. However, if you fancy a quick horror snack, you will be served (once again) at your beck and call.

Evil West is a well-executed cross between over-the-top cowboy action and gory vampire battles with an entertaining cast. The lack of exploration and gameplay variety quickly makes this game repetitive and certainly not for everyone, but if you're looking for non-stop action, fun and a linear story without fuss, then you've come to the right place.

Gearbox has no idea what made the first Tales From The Borderlands so good. Even more bizarre: they also seem to have no idea what humor is. New Tales is painfully unfunny and also way too expensive for its length.

The Divine Force is a worthy comeback for the Star Ocean series that fans can be proud of. The game world is more beautiful and wider than ever and the brand new combat system hits the nail on the head. Still, it feels like the JRPG is a few years behind. The clayey characters make every cutscene an eyesore. Without a penchant for anime games, you probably won't get anything out of this.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 isn't as massive a revolution as the previous installment, but it doesn't have to be. The game is varied, pops better than ever before and offers a delicious shot of nostalgia. It just needs some time to really belong to the top of the franchise.

No Man's Sky is just playable on the Switch. The necessary graphical downgrades are not surprising, but the lack of multiplayer is. Fortunately, no further content has been cut. No Man's Sky can therefore fulfill all your space fantasies in a lonely and unstable way.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Bitch is a classic sidescrolling shooter with a lot to blow up. The Warhammer style fits well with the genre, but the gameplay can quickly become monotonous. wow.
