Although I lost my Settlers virginity at a fairly old age, growing a functional colony is very, very addictive. The game brings back a load of childhood memories, which is definitely one of the game's strongest sides. There are some minor flaws though. The AI is passive and if you need to handle million things at once, sometimes the game gets quite confusing. [May 2010]

An excellent and innovative breath of fresh air. The more I play, the more I like. I hope this is new role model for shooters to come. [Jan 2016]

Blue Dragon is done by the book, even too much so. The game faithfully reproduces all the love-and-hate clichΓ©s of Japanese RPG's. It is like a Hollywood remake of a classic Japanese movie. In short, it lacks character. [Sept 2007]

Wii's first online title and also Wii's best multiplayer game. The action has a very polished feel to it, and there are plenty of different tactics and teams. The graphics and single player modes could have been better. [Aug 2007]

Apotheon's visual style is absolutely gorgeous and the mythological elements are well integrated into both level and boss design. What keeps the game from ascending to Olympus is the somewhat flawed combat. [March 2015]

A hardcore Star Wars fan's dream come true. Decent solo game with playable jedi characters, furious space fights and awesome net play. What else can you ask for? As a PC game Battlefront 2 is a technically lacking hyperactive bunnyhopper. Again. [Dec 2005]

A very good and original (if you haven't seen the previous iterations) turn-based tactical fighting game with RPG-trimmings. [Apr 2009]

Delivers more of the same Doom experience. Doom 3's ubiquitous darkness and monsters that spawn behind your back have not gone to hell where they belong. But would it be the same without them? [May. 05]

Feels, in a good way, more like Master of Orion 3 than the real MOO3 ever did. It is very interesting, unique take to 4X-genre, very nice to play but needs more bloodthirsty AI opponents. War, not only skirmishes, please. [May 2010]

I admit it, I enjoyed the time I spent hacking and slashing my way through the hordes of funny foes Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure threw in my way. I just wish it didn't cost as much as it does to unlock content that's already on the game disc. [Dec 2011]

This year's update focuses mainly on the single-player experience and the franchise mode. Additions like player roles and cut days are good, but the lack of a co-op online franchise is still disappointing. Otherwise, it's a solid if slightly unexciting offering. [Oct 2011]

A short, but entertaining stand-alone halloweenesque action-adventure for the electric superhero Cole. Kill the vampire queen before dawn. It's a bit too easy for inFamous-veterans, though. [Dec 2011]

Lost Odyssey is the definitive jrpg-title that the Xbox 360 has been waiting for. This traditional title delivers a deep tactical combat system, awesome visuals and one of the most compelling stories we've ever seen in this genre. [Mar 2008]

Fun for a while, but two measly levels is just too little, too late. Especially for a game that's practically made for DLC campaigns. Also the difficulty level is ramped up a bit too much on expert. Yes, expert should be hard, but Crash Course just makes things frustrating whereas the balance between dying a lot and having fun was spot on in the original game. [Nov 2010]

Easily the best Yoshi game in years. Woolly World is hardly innovative, but its design is consistently clever and the visual style works amazingly well. [Aug 2015]

Stellaris successfully brings Paradox grand strategies to interstellar level, but feels at this stage too barebones at places. While the early game exploration and expansion is interesting and tense, and the late game crises bring welcome change to a step in 4X games that often becomes boring mopping up, the mid game is too often a boring slog with too few things happening both with your own empire and your passive neighbours. The feeling is further strengthened by the lack of espionage and any real internal or external trading. I have faith that Stellaris will improve greatly with patches and DLC, as Paradox games have done, but for now Stellaris is only an another decent game in its genre. [June/July 2016]

A new light-gun shooter that's actually fun. The intensive and graphic splatterhouse action, the excessive violence and cussing – it's almost all good. Too bad the game becomes all too easy when you get the bigger guns. Still – way to go! [Mar 2009]

Concentrating on the Attitude Era of the WWE was a wise decision from THQ. The campaign of WWE'13 delivers. The controls are still somewhat clunky and at times technical hitches hinder the matches, but WWE'13 is still one of the finest wrestling games around. [Dec 2012]

GTA on steroids. Huge city, very brutal combat, cool super powers and an interesting plot ensures that Prototype is one of this summer's hit games. There's a lot of gore, so this game has 18+ written all over it. [July 2009]
