Metro 2033 is Stalker done right. Gone are the half-working sandbox elements and infuriatingly underpowered weapons. Instead Metro delivers an expertly paced train ride though the spooky post-apocalyptic underbelly of Moscow. The English voiceovers are horrible, but in the end that doesn't really matter. Nintendo has made its first mobile game. Too bad Captain Toad ended up on Wii U. This game would've been perfect on iPad. A puzzle game that has a very compact structure is a common sight on iDevices, but rare on consoles, that are meant to be used in a livingroom. [Feb 2015]

A refreshingly original adventure. It feels like a comic book and the story centres around courtrooms. There are some mildly annoying repetitive elements, but nothing too distracting. [June 2006]

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is a very pretty adventure, which uses various puzzles where other games would use action or fights. The puzzles should be a bit more in tune with the story and the locations, though. [Nov 2013]

As an expansion, The Ardennes Offensive feels a bit expensive for what it is. The campaign missions are well designed, though, and increasing the importance of the individual soldiers is a great addition to the game mechanics. [Jan 2015]

Sunset Overdrive’s supercharged hyper parkour has a bit steep learning curve, but once you master it, this sandbox shooter shows its true colors. It's totally over the top, always on the move and absolutely hilarious. [Nov 2014]

Crysis looks great on consoles, too. Too bad Crytek decided to use the nerfed nanosuit 2.0 from Crysis 2 and they couldn't fix the original problem of the game, the way everything turns much less fun once the aliens show up. Napoleon: Total War is remake of the Empire: Total War. Both games have same weaknesses and strengths but the Napoleon version is more polished of the two. [Apr 2010]

Controlling your horde of loyal and evil Naši youth feels refreshing compared to the typical action adventure formula. The technical execution is solid and the over the top fantasy cliché humour works decently. The game does not have a whole lot of longevity or challenge but it does have burning hobbits. [Aug 2007]

Firewatch adds a humane flavor to a game, that is a mix of walking simulator and a telltaleish adventure game. And it looks absolutely gorgeous. Campo Santo kicks off the adventure game year of 2016 with a high note. Well played, sirs! [March 2016]

The latest baby in the Everybody's Golf family is a superb golf game. Smooth controls, happy characters and a pleasantly fast pace make this a sure hit with golf fans. [Oct 2005]

Far from a run-of-the-mill WW2 shooter. The game is all about realism, which makes the infantry and tank combat intense and exciting. The lack of a proper single player campaign is a bit of a letdown, but the great multiplayer action compensates for that. [May 2006]

The cuddly kiddy version of Star Wars is still sympathetic, but what already felt dated length and complexity-wise in 1997 requires real retro love in 2011. The remastering is top notch, however. [Oct 2011]

Stylized over the top cartoon violence in black and white.... and blood-red. There's a lot to like in MadWorld. Only for a brief time however since the game doesn't have depth or longevity. The gameplay is rough around the edges and there are some technical niggles. The poor European conversion with 50 Hz screen refresh and black borders is worth a special mention. The shame!
