When it comes to adult, nonlinear storytelling, The Witcher 2 is in a class of its own. Accompanied by outstanding visuals, carefully written characters and one of the most iconic heroes in the genre, the game exceeds many of our expectations. Unfortunately the ending is a little unsatisfying, there are some noticeable bugs and both controls and combat system leave quite a lot to be desired. The Witcher 2 is not perfect by any means, but it's a huge accomplishment nonetheless and ranks easily among the best RPGs of this year.- PC Games

Mindbending puzzles, a ton of humor topped with a good story and an outstanding coop mode, Portal 2 is the game you have to play. You will laugh, you will think till your brain hurts and you will cheer considering the love and cleverness that Valve put into this diamond of a game. From sound to innovation to comedy to gameplay the game is simply perfect. Play and enjoy.- PC Games

While lacking the ultimate sense for sober realism and clinical perfection that propelled Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 to the racing-genres pole-positions, Shift 2 Unleashed scores with its fast presentation and brilliant helmet-cam that boast of speed and adrenaline. Despite the sloppy and cumbersome menus and some problems in terms of balancing and over-aggressive AI, Shift 2 Unleashed closes the gap on these two masterpieces due to its intensive and enthralling performance on the track.- PC Games

Bulletstorm certainly isn't a revolution amongst first person shooters, but it actually managed to surprise me in a lot of ways. A great adventure game in the style of the Indiana-Jones-action-movies. The story about nazis searching for the secret kingdom of shambala and it's huge powers is thrilling and directed with lots of great cutscenes and detailed graphics. The game contains lot's of dialogues, some of them are very long though. The Puzzles are mostly fair but to easy to solve for genre veterans. Black Ops is quite a pleasant surprise: On the one hand former second class developer Treyarch reaches the Infinity Ward's standard of gameplay quality and inventiveness for the first time. On the other hand Treyarch manages to set a course of their own through the unusual story and a ton of tributes to other masterpieces of action, be it movie or game. Plus Activision conceded the time and resources to Treyarch to aspire a really great game. And that's something you'll notice immediately. You'll recognize the passion and the effort that went into making this new episode. Black Ops delivers Call of Duty gaming at its best as well as a distinctly individual approach to the whole scenario. Infinity Ward will have to put their shoulders to the wheel to outplay Black Ops with the next CoD.- PC Games

Criterion Games hits the old and trusty NfS-Series with a welcome and refreshing blast from the past. It offers fast and furious oldschool-action, plenty of mileage and an overall good ride. A lack of modes, some rather bland racetypes, the always present rubberband-A.I. and a lack of challenge bothered us. But overall we liked what Hot Pursuit had to offer. A lot!- PC Games

A good sequel with superior controls, some new features, a steady pace and a lot more action compared to the first game. With its short playing time of roughly five hours it fails to create as much atmosphere as The Force Unleashed 1 though and the PC-adaption suffers from a lot of technical issues, e.g. tearing, crashes, bugs and problems during setup. The gameplay itself will satisfy both Star Wars-Fans and those who enjoyed TFU1.- PC Games

While WRC definitely lacks the glamourous presentation and technical splendour of its main rival Dirt 2, it has something else to offer: Real rally gameplay. The classic rally-contests where you are racing alone on an empty route, just against the clock, are something that Dirt 2 cold-shouldered and WRC now picked up. And it even does a pretty good job there. We criticize the lack of variety (there is no rally-cross mode for example) and the antiquated engine, but traditional rally-fans won't find a more convincing simulation of their favourite sport at the moment.- PC Games

In Hawx 2 there are new mission types like delivering suppression fire for allied forces or navigating spy satellites. Furthermore you can now land, start or get refueled in some missions. These new features provide a bit variety though they are not very demanding. On the downside Hawx 2 fails to create any atmosphere due to the boring and confused story. In short, Hawx 2 is an improved Hawx 1, with more variety and less story. Those who enjoyed the first game, especially the dogfights, will also enjoy the second one. Those who hoped for innovation might be disappointed.- PC Games

Runaway: A Twist of Fate is a great adventure and a dignified finale of the Runaway triology. It sure does not have the deep story of The Whispered World or A Book of Unwritten Tales but it sure feels like a monolithic system. There are plenty of good ideas in this shooter. None of them are new. And none of them are implemented as thrilling as they could have been. The Single-player part is inferior to the big combatants in the genre in almost every aspect. Though the pacing is right, the sounds are superb and Medal of Honor presents a solid shooter-core, the missions are repetitive, the AI is non-existent and the scripting is extremely bad. The once great German subgenre of business simulations is brought back to old glory with Patrician 4. This game delivers the same enthralling and challenging experience as its predecessors and tops them with up-to-date graphics and modern-day-improvements such as a drag-and-drop-interface. Boring old WW2-RTS? Think again! Ruse combines the tactical depth of classical Panzer General-fame with the action-packed, hectic gameplay of modern day real time strategy games. The story might not make you wet your pants and the main character is a eccentric old prick, but the missions are cleverly designed, the interface is genius in its minimalism and the ruse system allows for strategic gameplay that one finds rarely in modern RTS. Although far from perfect, this stand-alone add-on delivers at least a thoroughly playable The Guild 2-experience. It adds some new professions and maps to the game that fit perfectly into the system. But most of all, the young developers have managed to eradicate most of the bugs of the main game and the horrible expansion Venice. Plus, the network code now actually works! Disciples 3: Renaissance delivers three big campaigns that entertain for a long time. It looks remarkably good and the gameplay mechanics are adequately implemented. However, the game lacks the depth of titles like Heroes of Might and Magic 5. We really hoped, that Codemasters would have been able to create a worthy sequel to the classic military-simulation OFP: Cold War Crisis. The first impressions have been great, but in the end, Dragon Rising is just a common tactical-shooter like a Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. It is far away from a real simulation. The campaign has its ups and downs, but you’re always just the leader of a little infantry-squad, you don’t fly exciting helicopter-missions, you’re not involved in huge tank battles. Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper is a good adventure with a motivating story, exciting investigations, mostly decent voice action and an atmospheric world. The game suffers from it's wooden animations, its linearity, poor 3D controls and some really annoying minigames and puzzles though.- PC Games

A weird mixture of WW1-shooter, zombies, demons and mechanical monsters. Though the bossfights are exciting, the leveldesign and the endless waves of dumb standard-enemies are boring. Graphics and sound are just average quality.- PC Games

Once a mod now a game on its own, Killing Floor confronts the player with hordes of undead minions threatening his character’s life. While being independent enough of zombie-shooter-king Left 4 Dead with features like sealing doors, character perks and weapon stores, the game itself offers little variety and a flawed AI.- PC Games

A nice genre-mix that combines elements of both strategy and action. Battlestations: Pacific succeeds in providing gameplay and performance almost free of grave mistakes, but unfortunately free of highlights and memorable experiences as well.- PC Games

Velvet Assassin isn’t an easy game. The unfair saving points and logical inconsequences are annoying and even frustrating and the slow pace will bore the pants off of many players. But those who are willing to immerse into Velvette’s cheerless, morbid world will be rewarded with an atmosphere intense beyond believe and probably the most mature WW2-game for years to come.- PC Games

Have you ever felt cold when playing a game? In Cryostasis you’ll be confronted with deadly cold, while you are exploring a long missing icebreaker-ship in the Arctic. This unusual shooter uses an innovative temperature-health-system and the horror-scripts are well done.- PC Games

Outstanding visual design, a unique fantasy setting and intense first person combat are reason enough to pick up this exceptional action game. I only wished there was some kind of exploration and puzzle elements to it. And if the short play time of about 5 hours turns you off, think of the fair price - it is a pretty good deal after all.- PC Games

Thanks to some important patches and updates, the game delivers some exciting multiplayer action with a decent amount of depth, outstanding graphics and addictive role playing elements. Still, there remains much to do for the developers: the game needs more maps, more demigods, more tournament options and more community features, to mention only a few.- PC Games

Dominic’s criminal activities remind me of GTA. The first one in 3D to be exact – the one released for PC seven years ago. But despite its prehistoric visuals I like it in some kind of way. The don mode adds some strategic challenge to the quite simple (and in a couple of missions even quite boring) gameplay. Not a perfect mafia game, but if you have never played GTA4 before, you’ll be well-entertained.- PC Games

A generic turn-bases fantasy strategy game that is far too difficult for beginners. That begin said, experts and players with a taste for anti-heroes will find a pretty streamlined experience in a not-so-politically-correct world.- PC Games

What started as a strategy experiment became the worst case scenario of gaming. Ugly, impossible to handle and extremely demanding for hardware, Stormrise is possibly the worst strategy game of the year! If this is the future of RTS, I’d rather stay in the past!- PC Games

If you like simple nonstop-action, combined with cool boss-fights, you’re in the right place in Dark Sector. Though the story-plot appears like a bad B-movie, your character fights with a special, and very cool boomerang-weapon, the glaive. The gore-level is very high, so the game is recommended only for adults.- PC Games

I’m a big fan of air-combat-classics like Strike Commander, Falcon and IL2-Sturmovik, so I really looked forward to HAWX. Sure, I’ve had my doubts. Can this genre revive itself, though hitting the stores for consoles with quite simple controls at the same time? Ubisoft delivers the answer: no problem! Sure, HAWX is everything else but a simulation, but this game never wanted to be one. HAWX comes with accessible, perfectly staged non-stop-action and a broad selection of air combat situations like bombing runs, dogfights, escorts and more. If the multiplayer-mode can keep up with the solo-experience: fasten seatbelts and stop smoking!- PC Games
