The Beatles Rockband is the first rhythm game who'll have the chance to finally take over Karaokes from pubs and living rooms all over the world. No more impossible solos or songs that only Bruce Dickinson or Robert Plant can sing, but only a lot of fun for whomever will feel like grabbing a guitar or a microphone and sing songs almost everybody learned to love over the years. It's only about Beatles and it's a bit short, but if you get in the mood, it will last forever.

Even with all its flaws in terms of pace, exploration and level design, Muramasa remains a brilliant example of 2D action game. It's not just a nostalgic commemoration, but a good piece of classic gameplay brought up to date by a wonderfully crafted product.

The new chapter of the Dirt saga is a great game, the most complete off road experience with a lot car and tracks and a stunning visuals. The brand new replays are useful, maybe too much playing in the lowest level of difficulty. And above the game needs more rally events.

DiRT's debut on Wii will disappoint fans of the series and fans of driving games in general. The cars lack of detail, the tracks are poor and there are many frame rate issues. You can't even play with the Wii-mote, since it's very unresponsive, so you should use Nunchuck's analog stick or connect a Classic Controller.

Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is the ultimate version of this game. It's not a simply porting from PlayStation 2 of Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, but a better and complete edition of this tactical role-playing game. With many improvements to the gameplay and added content such as stages and characters, newcomers are given an excellent place to start the series and Disgaea fans will be happy to play it. Highly recommended.

Not just a simple remake of the classic, Contra Rebirth is a genuine, all-new injection of classic arcade action. More committed to the hardcore and nostalgic audience, it's nonetheless a great and classy production by Konami.

Broken Destiny will not disappoint fans of the franchise but the lack of worthwhile game modes is a decent issue. Plotwise Broken Destiny is forgettable at best and there is no reason for a Soul Calibur IV owner to pick this installment other than playing it when traveling. The game is visually striking and faithful to the home console version, all in all it is recommended to whoever wants a great portable fighting game or never played Soul Calibur before.

Despite the lack of innovation, Guitar Hero 5 delivers plenty of game modes, an almost perfect multiplayer (both local and online) and the same old gameplay we all know and love. The tracklist is huge, and we can play the songs at different levels, with different instruments. Those who have already spent hundreds of hours with the series might find this new episode unattractive, but it's worth a try anyway.

Despite a unique setting and a compelling story, Cursed Mountain fails to deliver some good survival horror action. The combat system is pretty good and there are some nice boss battles, but the game is slow, easy and short, with very poor locations, lots of invisible barriers and dull puzzles.

It would be too easy, if not unfair, to consider this game as just the tie in you don't expect. Batman AA is one of the best action adventure you can play in this generation of hardware, mixing in an almost impeccable way the best elements taken from this genre's masterpieces.

Section 8 is a fairly traditional FPS, featuring a couple of interesting points (the launch phase and device management). The story mode is too short, only eight missions, while the online multiplayer mode seems to be fun, with forty players and eighteen maps. Definitely not the best FPS around.

After one year, Layton is still a great experience: puzzles are challenging as they were supposed to be and the story is very well written, with charming characters and locations. One of the best "more of the same" of the year.

Spectrobes: Origins is an interesting evolution of the franchise, even if still aimed to a teen audience it happens to stand out as a solid and entertaining RPG recommended especially to fans of the genre. The game is visually impressive but plagued by minor faults, it does not last a lot but it offers some optional content and lots of creatures to unlock and collect.

Wheelspin is a big disappointment. We were expecting much more from a game designer like Archer MacLean and a publisher like Bethesda, no doubt about it: though the 60 fps frame rate, the graphics are ugly, with awful colors, and the controls are all but responsive.

In our opinion Madden NFL 10 is possibly the best ever American football game ever to grace a console, thanks to the work the team is making every year to improve on the formula. Improvements are subtle, but constant with each release.
