Promenade is the typical project that brings together different suggestions from well-known examples but which turns out to be something much more than the simple sum of the parts. A truly precious 2D platformer for its ability to amaze and entertain.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is simply Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: it's hard to find other words to describe this video game because it shies away from any common genre or comparison term in favor of its strange identity, which embodies the very essence of Simogo's production. Hotel Letztes Jahr is a labyrinth outside of space and time that houses, beyond its approximately one hundred and fifty puzzles, an investigative thriller, a search akin to Arthurian legend, and a profound reflection on art, all framed in an offbeat aesthetic style able to transform it into a true obsession.

Modern Warfare 3 is what the fans expected - fast paced multiplayer action with some new twists and game modes that are a definitely a fresh breeze. But there are also a great campaign and the usual challenging Spec Ops.

The King of Fighters-i 2012 is the best fighting game for iOS devices; mainly thanks to the control system, fully optimized, but the contents are shining as well, with great animations and exciting online features.

It's indeed the best way to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution in case you've missed it, even if some of the new Gamepad features feel a little bit forced in and really don't add anything special to the gameplay.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for PC delivers stunning visuals, a huge number of missions to complete, solid gameplay (though it's not challenging at all) and an engaging story. The multiplayer modes are very fun, too. Fans of the previous Assassin's Creed episodes absolutely can't miss this one.

COCOON is a demonstration of how elegance always passes from simplicity, stemming from a clear idea of what you are. COCOON is not an adventure with strong narrative traction; it does not want to put violent dynamics at the center of the gameplay; it does not push the player to lap his brain for hours on seemingly unsolvable puzzles. COCOON is a work that is reduced to bone and, for this reason, wins; it is an elegant dance between worlds, capable of never being cloying; is an experience that focuses on the purely animal ability to analyze the environment and the available resources to find an efficient solution in any given situation.

Horizon Chase could well be a SEGA's game, if SEGA still were in his golden age. A racing game that combines old school gameplay with modern aesthetics in a convincing package.

Extremely different from Super Mario Kart, this is the first episode that truly rivals it in terms of quality. It has a brilliant track design, amazing graphics and a surprising game balance. Mario Kart 8 is the Super Mario Galaxy of the series: a demonstration that Nintendo can still produce magic.

If Super Mario Maker was published between 2006 and 2008, it would have been revolutionary: now, with Little Big Planet and Super Meat Boy out there, it can't be innovative. Anyway, thanks to the gamepad, the editor is amazing... and the controls are as amazing as ever. Even you are only interested in playing (and not in creating) levels, Super Mario Maker is a great game.

The recent resurgence of classic FPS style clearly responds to a need of old school gameplay, immediacy and challenge. We can find a perfect answer to all of these needs in Dusk, surely one of the most successful gems brought by this new wave.

BioShock 2 is the general improvement of the first title. Everything about the gameplay is better, from the action to the level design. The plot is involving and the player has a continuous sense of progression with new weapons, monsters or plasmids. But there are several problems from the technical aspects to the aquatic sections of the game and above all BioShock 2 is a constant deja-vu. It is wonderful, very wonderful but not wonderful as the first game.

Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel have delivered a simply outstanding roguelike, an adventure that unabashedly aims to seize the absolute pinnacle of the genre. Over 200 hours of core content, more than 100 bosses, upwards of 200 enemy types, more than 1,200 abilities, and 1,000 pieces of equipment: these are the cold numbers behind Mewgenics, but a boiling blood runs through its veins. By embracing the turn-based tactical RPG formula and distilling an explosive blend of cats and genetics, the authors have crafted a video game of extraordinary depth—a journey that leaves you slack-jawed almost entirely on the strength of its mechanics and pure game design, further elevated by irreverent writing and a completely unhinged soundtrack. There isn’t much else to add, because it is practically the Holy Grail for any fan of tactical RPGs and roguelikes: approach with caution, as it demands a considerable time investment and shows very little concern about kicking you squarely in the ass.

If you're looking for perfection NieR: Automata isn't for you. This is a flawed experience, but also a deeply engrossing one, that will challenge your preconceptions about videogames, and will blow your mind with a brilliant and crazy campaign structure, perfectly matched with continuous gameplay transformations.
