Kholat fails to keep us involved due to a too predictable plot, while a badly designed map system makes the overall experience more frustrating than thrilling. Too bad: an intriguing mystery as the Dyatlov Pass incident deserved a better treatment.

MXGP3 benefits from the switch to Unreal Engine showing better graphics and a more realistic physics simulation, confirming itself as the reference game for off-road bike games.

Perception's got some interesting ideas and touching and adult stories to tell, but all this gets lost in an overly easy and boring game, hindered by several bugs too. It's a pity.

DiRT 4 offers us a very good driving model, suited both to hardcore rally lovers and more casual gamers, and a satisfying variety in modes and tracks. We would have liked a greater range of locations and more stunning graphics, but what's left is however a very solid and entertaining racer.

A quite ordinary local multiplayer party game, with too low variety in gameplay and modes to really shine. It can be funny for the first matches, but it will quickly wear out.

More than a proper horror game, The Town of Light is a scary didactic experience teaching us about the horrors that went on in Italian asylums until the '80s. It's not a too enjoyable game though, due to overly slow and clunky movements, long loading times and an unstable frame rate.

A visually stunning space sim, with an arcade gameplay coupled to roguelike mechanics. Its controls can feel quite uncomfortable in the beginning and it could have used some more variety in enemy encounters and tactics, but it's ultimately fun and recommended to lovers of space fighting/exploration.

A more balanced and newbie-friendly episode in Bandai Namco's series, with great gameplay and combat systems and a great Story Mode. Despite these, it lacks in single player content, but really, that isn't the core experience in a fighting game and you'll have plenty of fun playing it with friends at home or online.

Tokyo 42 sports a gorgeous visual style, with an incredibly detailed and alive isometric pixel art world; on this backdrop comes alive a solid, if not too original or brilliant, twin-stick shooter with stealth mechanics partly ruined by some heavy frame rate drops and perspective problems. It remains however a very fascinating and unique game, definitely worth a try.

RiME revealed to be an incredibly fascinating, imaginative and touching adventure, with gorgeous environments and organic and well designed puzzles. Definitely one of the best games this gen.

NBA Playgrounds tries to bring back the classic NBA Jam charm, but fails in doing so due to a boring single player and a very unstable online multiplayer. It's still good fun when playing in local multiplayer, but that's not enough, not at this price.

Injustice 2 surprises us with brilliant plot and storytelling, something unexpected from a fighting game and setting new standards for games in general, coupled with a very satisfying combat system and lots of contents. A must buy for everyone, not just fighting games lovers.

Unit 4 merges an original character switching mechanic with a captivating 8-bit sci-fi design and great challenge levels, resulting in an absorbing and satisfying 2D side-scroller.

An interesting gameplay mechanic differentiates Embers of Mirrim from the usual side-scrolling platformer crop, asking us to control two spirits with one thumbstick each. Sometimes it may become overly confusing, but it's a fascinating mechanic to try.

A successful mix of twin-stick shooter, bullet hell and roguelike, funny and challenging, but lacking enough uniqueness to not feel like something any lover of these genres already played thousands of times.

Deck13 reinterprets the Souls-like genre with a deep and original combat system and more gamer-friendly structure and story. This doesn't save The Surge from its dose of frustrating and repetitive action, though, but it's definitely a ride worth the effort.

An inexcusable sequel to Kate Walker's saga, where the always brilliant Sokal art gets spoiled by a pitiful technical production and infuriating controls. Did anyone in Microids quality-check this game before putting it out?

A nice idea, spoiled by too-little content and an overly high price. Several weeks after its launch it's almost impossible to find anyone to play with, and for an online-only game this is a huge problem.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is another example of how an old-school game remake/remaster should be done. Gorgeous graphics and animations go side by side with an hardcore classical gameplay, improved in several aspects and highly challenging (maybe too much so, sometimes). Definitely an advised buy both for fans of the originals and lovers of platforming action.

A nice Zelda-like, recalling elements of A Link Between Worlds in a colorful adventure. Its weaknesses reside in the excessive backtracking and too repetitive and unimaginative puzzles, but it's still a good buy for lovers of the genre.

A surprisingly deep game recalling classics like Half-Life and System Shock, with a very compelling story and complex and challenging gameplay that gives great freedom to the player. Some control problems, slightly too long loading times and far from shining graphics keep it from reaching its full potential, but we're definitely facing a new unmissable Arkane Studios gem.

A solid open world tactical shooter, with good mission variety and depth. It disappoints in the technical and story departments, though; it partially feels like a missed opportunity, but definitely a step in the right direction for the series.

A frantic and ultraviolent ode to classic '90s FPSes, but with a 2D metroidvania structure. Challenging and gory, its only fault resides in an overly lo-fi graphic approach, with sometimes too indistinct elements.

A hilarious physics-based puzzle game, especially if played in co-op with a friend. Creative puzzles, rich environments and odd situations distinguish this game.

The Sexy Brutale introduces a very interesting and original concept having us re-live over and over the same day like in a video gaming version of Groundhog Day. The gameplay, though, isn't deep enough and doesn't offer any replay value even if still worthy of being played.

An incredibly tense horror game, with adult themes and great graphics. Sometimes it can be a bit too frustrating, but you'll be rewarded by a memorable ending. One of the best horror experiences ever.
