For a free-to-play game, Ultima Forever isn't bad at all, and adventurers with a good online connection won't want to miss out on the chance to play alongside friends. Between technical bugs, the complete lack of an off-line mode, and the need to pay for premium items though, it might just take you forever to really get into the game's many charms.

Worms 3's new squad and card mechanics may not entirely suit the tastes of purists, but if the series is to evolve any further then it surely has to take a few risks somewhere along the line. It's not entirely Worms as you know it, then, but those new twists are entertaining enough to ensure that this new mobile outing for the franchise is more than capable of standing on its own two feet.

All things considered, Amateur Surgeon 3 is a very worthy addition to the series, and will delight fans of the earlier games. If you're new to this maverick surgical action, you may find the humor just a little too dark, and the action a little on the squeamish side, but if you like your gaming to have an off-beat flavor then you owe it to yourself to get stuck into this frantically meaty gameplay.

Despite its number two ranking on the App Store (right behind Despicable Me: Minion Rush), we don't expect Bus Derby to become the next iPhone and iPad phenomenon, but it's a mildly entertaining freemium effort that provides a change of pace from driving Ferraris. With its refreshingly original core platform mechanic, not to mention the wonderful audio and artwork, Sky Tourist is a game that you'll desperately want to enjoy more than you actually will - a real pity. Fun though it is to race across the landscape splattering anything that moves, the progression system really doesn't work as well as it should. Bookworm Heroes is a tremendously fun word game, and it's one that's packed full of fun characters, special abilities and addictive gameplay. But when you produce a game that makes even Zynga looks generous, you really have to wonder if there isn't still a little extra balancing to be done.

The blending of mechanics, particularly in later levels, may cater a little more towards the hardened Cut The Rope veteran, but there's much to be enjoyed by everyone in this new adventure. It represents a bold evolution for the core gameplay, the levels are as tightly designed as you'd expect, and there'll no doubt be many more of them in future updates.

Despite the cartoon styling of both the game's environment and objects, not to mention the target of your sadistic aspirations himself, this certainly won't be a game to everyone's taste - and it's also one that parents will want to think twice about before handing over to their children. For fans of the series though, it's very much more of what they love about the games, and for those players that will probably be more than enough.

The concept doesn't evolve much, outside of unlocking different types of rocks, and tedium quickly sets in once you've seen the handful of locations, Egypt and China to name a couple. Still, it's a cool distraction and a different take on one of cinema's biggest action scenes, but is it worth $2.99? No.

If this generous free taste of the game tickles your fancy, we don't think you'll hesitate to unlock the full game immediately.
