More a visual novel than an RPG, Heroland's charm is in its plot and characters. The gameplay mechanics, however, feel bland and the feeling is that the player is most of the time just watching the game playing itself. It also becomes a bit repetitive over time.

The series is coming back, but reimagining itself to adopt some mechanics and quality of life details than improve significantly the experience overall. Despite its flaws, a mediocre IA and some limitations, such as no coop online, sounds like a lost opportunity that we hope we will see in a future brand new entry. In the meantime, this is probably the best entry since Explorers; and that is very good news.
