The question that every Final Fantasy fanatic poses is probably if it is still worth tackling all the extra obstacles, just to experience another epic adventure. As an online role-playing game, it requires a usual monthly subscription and every single expansion also has its price. If you look past that detail, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is yet another excellent game in the series, albeit a little too adapted for online gambling to attract exactly all "regular" Final Fantasy fans.

Even tough the story is a bit unevenly told; we cannot stop playing Sea of Solitude until Kay has reached the end of her journey. Partly because the story always manages to motivate us to go further, partly because the adventure is not long enough for the shortcomings to become too intrusive. When it is all said and done, Sea of Solitude is a gripping but uneven journey that is worth taking.

Call of Duty WW2 is in the middle of an identity crisis, but by going back to its roots it has created slower and more tactical gameplay that is much more fun to play than the wall running and double jumping from the last few installments.

Ghost Giant is a touching adventure filled with simple puzzles, cozy environments and a story of joy and sorrow. If you are looking for a challenging experience this is not for you though. Instead it is more of an interactive story with simple but enjoyable gameplay. And most importantly; a great and memorable little tale.

Grid is an easy-to-play racing game that entertains on the track but disappoints everywhere else. The career mode is hardly worth the name, and the online mode only offers the most basic functions. Although, if you can't stand the realism you’ll find in most of today’s racing games and just want something fun to play – Grid might be the game for you.

Far Cry 6 starts off strong with a haunting and pretty realistic sequence. During the adventure, we get plenty of similar scenes, but also the exact opposite - and everything in between. It creates an incredibly disjointed experience, but it's actually not as bad as it sounds since the actual gameplay is varied and enjoyable. Instead, it is the high number of bugs and, to say the least, strange behavior from some of the computer controlled characters that lowers the enjoyment a notch.

Definitely a greater game than the first Nioh, although still difficult to recommend to all action aficionados out there. After all, it's still a "soulsborne" type game and will take a lot of your time. Those with patience will experience the greatest fulfillment after defeating the various difficult bosses. But if you're not ready to devote your free time to memorize the fighting system: Turn around! There are limits to how much we can die before our console goes out the window.

Octopath Traveler is a beautiful adventure that feels like the retro trip it desperately trying to be. But the design does very little to surprise us, the result being that the game starts to be very repetitive after ten hours or so.

Although the weapons and the exo-suit elevate the core action of Dead Rising 4, the lack of timer takes away the challenge and the replayability. The current build also has a lot of bugs, unfortunately.

Apparently, Yu Suzuki's own vision for the open world genre did not match what the latter came to be. But we do give him credit for choosing to stay on the route that fans expect. In the end, this is still a Kickstarter-funded product would not exist without the fans. What the rest of us think of outdated controls, confined environments that pretend to be open-world-like and mediocre voiceover efforts is secondary. For anyone who has waited to continue the story of Ryo's journey in pursuit of his father's killer, it's the most important event of years to come. For everyone else, it was Friday.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is basically the same game as Rise of theTomb Raider, but in a new environment. This time Lara finds her self in the Peruvian jungle – and it looks absolutely stunning. Unfortunately the graphics are about the only thing new in this game and we wish the gameplay would have been improved as well. But despite it's shortcomings, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a great entertainment. value.

While Dreams is a brilliant tool for home creations, after a few days we have seen all the Super Mario clones that we can take. Nearly all the titles feel have an "under construction" beta feeling. The question thus becomes, is it really worth spending money to beta test games for other creators? Of course, for those with a preference for homemade games, the answer is a resounding "yes". But for those who have never been aspiring game designers, it would have been more optimal with a cheaper lite version of Dreams, without the creation mode.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a fresh update of Sega's crazy gangster simulator. The new combat system is varied and really entertaining. The balance between the seriousness of the story and the humorous elements is excellent, and the new protagonist Ichiban is convincing. But unfortunately, the real "next-gen" elements are absent. Static environments and non-animated mouths should not occur at all in the year 2020.

Marvel's Avengers portrays the superhero theme from a whole new perspective, and it's really refreshing. During the cinematic missions the game really is everything we wanted from an Avengers game, with flashy attacks and rock-hard action like the movies it was inspired by. However, the multiplayer focus means that some annoyances penetrate into our offline sessions.

Although the game system is well done and the environments are beautiful, the rest is still bland and unimaginative. However, the battles are a strong bright spot - and if you like Japanese role-playing games in the old style, there is a lot to like here. Do not expect any groundbreaking new features or an outstanding story though.

It's been more than a decade since Left 4 Dead 2 and Turtle Rock is now back to reclaim the throne. Back 4 Blood is not a revolution, though. Instead, it's an evolution of the developer's already excellent gameplay from before. Although we would have liked less of the small flaws we find, it does not stop the game from being a really entertaining and addictive shooter. With human teammates, that is.

Control is a really atmospheric game with everything we want in a third person action game and a little more, but unfortunately it falls on the execution. With more well-made character models and fewer bugs, this would have been a really good game for anyone looking for an immersive and intense experience. Unfortunately, it’s sometimes barely playable. And we get devastated every time we have to restart the entire mission, often because of bugs, as Control otherwise has the potential to become a true full score game.

Little Hope, the second part of the horror series Dark Pictures, is a more refined and scarier experience than its predecessor. Walking around the misty town reminds us of Silent Hill, even though the game soon takes a more familiar horror route. The journey could be better in a lot of ways, but just like horror movies, some weird acting and other oddities are a part of the package. Little Hope is far from perfect, but it is still a fun little horror gem that will entertain horror fans.

With NHL 22, EA's classic hockey game finally gets a new game engine, which gives us better physics, graphics, and animations. As usual, we also get a ton of different games modes that will make most hockey fans happy. What we do not get, however, is enough notable gameplay improvements. Even though the improved physics helps a fair amount, plenty of old shortcomings remains. That said, NHL 22 is a great hockey game, but there is still room for plenty of improvements.

Age of Empires 4 is a safe new entry in the classic series. It is both nicer and bigger than before, but at the same time characterized by an extremely familiar feeling. The various playable civilizations are the triumph of the game, but the inherited problems from the rts genre as a whole do create some irritation.

After almost ten years Twilight Princess still is a pretty decent adventure, though not close to being the best in the franchise. The world isn’t that interesting, and the dark story feels a bit outdated compared to more modern titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And sadly the HD edition leaves us a bit unsatisfied, mostly because the lack of content and the fact that the visuals should be better.

Sega has really tried to do something new with Team Sonic Racing. Despite the great entertainment value, we are quickly bored due to the limited selection of tracks and frustrated by our teammates. Combined with unclear difficulty, we suspect that few players will have the patience and desire to play Team Sonic Racing as many hours as we have done.

The Lego concept is starting to go on auto pilot, and Lego Avengers does very little to change that. It’s charming and fun, but the puzzle design and the combat system both could been way better. For Lego fans it’s probably better to check out Lego Movie Videogame or Lego The Hobbit, even if this is still a good game.

Recore is one of those games that sounds better than it is. It’s an interesting fusion of genres, the story is well written and the world is beautiful. But the gameplay gets a bit monotonous after a couple of hours and the level design feels uninspired. Still, with the price tag in mind, its might be worth a closer look if you looking for a solid action adventure game.
