With Dirt 4 Codemasters tries to cater fans of both the unforgivingly excellent Dirt Rally and the more accessible Dirt 3. It works a lot better than we initially thought, but it also leads to a somewhat lacking experience that does a lot of things right - but few things perfectly.- M3

A remake that leaves very little to wish for, even though the gameplay starts to feel a bit old by now. Still the best installment in the series.- M3

Although Yakuza Kiwami does fall into the same routine as Yakuza 0, the new new sections with Majima are truly exceptional. Nevertheless, it does not change the fact that Kiwami feels like an expansion rather than a sequel.- M3

Even though Dragon Quest Heroes II might not feel like a full fledged sequel, it fixes our main gripes of the first game and offers an enjoyable adventure filled with charm and flashy but somewhat repetitive battles.- M3

Hexagroove: Tactical DJ is a somewhat odd but still enjoyable music experience. While it isn’t a typical music game where you mimic predetermined tunes, it isn’t a music creation tool either. Instead it’s something in between. At first the gameplay might feel both overwhelming and confusing, especially since the tutorial is pretty terrible. But after some practice everything starts to come together – and you will soon be hypnotized by the excellent symbiosis of sound and visuals.- M3

Ark: Survivor Evolved is not a game for everyone. But if you have patience, and are willing to learn the basics the hard way the payoff is huge. A bit clumsy control on the consoles aside, this is one of the most addictive games this year.- M3

Yoshi's Crafted World is a lovely but somewhat uneven experience. There is much to enjoy, especially the graphics and creativity that each level offers. Our only wish is that the game would be more challenging, and that the gameplay evolved during the adventure. But if you can ignore these short-comings, Yoshi's Crafted World is a great Nintendo style adventure.- M3

We will have to wait and see if Hitman's episodic format will turn out to be a successful approach. Right now the experience seems somewhat abrupt. But what´s really important here is that the gameplay is a step in the right direction with a creativity, freedom and fair difficulty comparable to some of the series' greatest moments.- M3

Yooka-Laylee is in every way a love letter to the platform genre of the 90's. There is tons of stuff to do, funny looking characters everywhere and new surprises behind every corner. On the negative side there are some technical issues along with a struggling camera. But overall, if you are a fan of Banjo-Kazooie, you're probably going to have plenty of fun with this.- M3

Battleborn offers a somewhat unique take on online based shooters by mixing in elements from Moba. The combination makes for some interesting battles where team work is just as important as a good aim. Add a surprisingly robust story mode and you will have plenty of fun ahead of you, even though the game is light on content and could use some polish all around.- M3

A Hat in Time is a game full of fun, charm and variety - just like the best 3D platform games from the late 90's. Even though A Hat in Time is not as polished as, for example, Super Mario's latest adventures, it's still an entertaining adventure that is a great choice for everyone who wants to relive something akin to the platforming games from their childhood.- M3

Insomniac IS doing a lot of things right with Spider-Man. The superhero feeling is perfect, and fans of Spider-Man will find plenty of references to the universe. But the game lacks something that is difficult to pinpoint. Not many of its ridiculous amount of side missions feel unique, and the main story lacks tension. Spider-Man is a beautiful, charming and creative game, but it's also repetitive and too ambitious for its own good.- M3

Everybody's Golf VR takes videogame golf to a whole new level. Although the fact that the gameplay is amazing, makes the lack of content it even more disappointing. Given the relatively low price tag, the number of courses is acceptable, but the lack of online play and even single player tournaments hurts the overall enjoyment.- M3

The multiplayer is as unique as ever, and the addition of a single-player campaign (however brief) helps to pad out the game and give its best ideas more room to breathe. Not everything works—least of all the writing—but if nothing else Respawn proves it’s a studio willing to experiment, to push boundaries in a way Battlefield and Call of Duty largely stopped doing years ago.- M3

In all its weirdness Yakuza 0 is as charming as the series ever has been. It isn't a game for everyone, but for those who fall for this there will be tons of stuff to do, wonderful settings to visit and well-written characters to meet.- M3

Halo Wars 2 might be a bit shallow compared to Starcraft 2, but as a strategy game on console it works really well. The controls are easy to understand, it’s action packed and the world is fantastic. For console players looking for a strategy game, Halo Wars 2 is an easy choice.- M3

Starcraft: Remastered is a great but somewhat superfluous upgrade with the original game still being supported and free to play at that. Still it´s hard to fault anyone for wanting to enjoy this versions upgraded sound and graphics since the price point is so low. Starcraft is still fantastic but the remaster it´s more of a thing for pros and nostalgia than for a new set of players.- M3

Matterfall may be the weakest title Housemarque has released to Playstation 4, but it's still a mostly great mix of platforming and shooting. We really enjoy the intense action and demanding difficulty – but we wish the game was a bit more polished and significantly longer.- M3

It's easy to judge Sword & Shield as a quick cash grab during it's first hours. The rich and complex story from Sun & Moon is all gone in favor for a more classic Pokémon story with no flimsy side tracks. Graphically, it is also not as impressive as other major titles from Nintendo. But what we get instead shows a willingness to take the series forward with new, fresh features with Dynamax and the open world hub that is the Wild Area. And in the end the fight is the most important thing in a Pokémon game. When we're in the middle of a gigantic and crowded stadium, enjoying the most dynamic battles of a Pokémon game, it's hard to think of anything else. Then we realize that Pokémon should be all about becoming "the very best." Everything else is secondary.- M3

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World won't make a huge impact on the gaming year of 2017, but it's a solid, well-crafted 3DS-remake with great accessibility and variety amongst its colorful levels.- M3

Nintendo Ring Fit Adventure is a cozy way for the otherwise sedentary gamer to be entertained while at the same time getting some exercise. It is a surprisingly well-made game that offers new features even after a long time playing. In this way, at least Ring Fit lives up to what it promises. However, we cannot say that we would boast to anyone that this was our exercise routine.- M3

Luigi's latest adventure is an adorable and well-made game that is far more diverse than we first thought. Exploring the hotel sometimes feels as extensive as the usual Super Mario adventure, instead of the brief experiences that preceded it. In addition, Luigi's arsenal has grown and with the help of Gooigi we also get a whole new way to deal with the many puzzles the hotel offers. But above all, it's the variety of ghosts and their surroundings that makes Luigi's Mansion 3 one of the most entertaining adventures this fall, despite some tricky controlling methods.- M3

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an unexpectedly fresh take of the well-used Dragon Ball license. Although it must be said that most parts of the game could have been in better shape, and if you are not a Dragon Fall fan many aspects of the game fall flat. But on the other hand; With great fan service, some fantastic cutscenes and above all entertaining gameplay, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a great choice for all Dragon Ball fans - whether your interest level is 150 or over 9000.- M3

It’s hard not to be impressed by how much of the Doom experience that is preserved on Nintendo's little machine. On the other hand, it's impossible to ignore the big downgrades regarding graphics and controls. Doom on Switch is simply a worse experience than Doom on the other consoles and pc - but it’s still a pretty great experience. Especially in handheld mode.- M3
