Contra: Operation Galuga finally allows the series to reconnect with its origins to once again become a staple of “run & gun”. Even if its artistic direction spoils part of the experience, we definitely find the original spirit of the franchise. Weapon management has been completely redesigned and the game is now teeming with multiple bonuses and improvements to unlock. The frenzy of Arcade mode playable with 4 players in coop compensates for the lack of readability specific to certain levels as well as the lifespan 100% focused on scoring. And if the feeling of déjà vu is sometimes tenacious, it is it which makes the link with the mythical origins of the saga.- Jeuxvideo.com

The result is an addictive experience thanks to its simple, but effective concept based on increasing power and replayability. If we would have liked a little more variety in the level objectives, the challenge overcome manages to make us forget this pitfall. In short, an ideal reason to relaunch Splatoon 3.- Jeuxvideo.com

In spring 2020, there was hope: that of seeing a crazy dream come true thanks to Final Fantasy VII Remake. This same hope, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth transforms it into a consecration. A gameplay of formidable efficiency here sublimated, a rhythm better managed despite some clumsiness, a staging which awakens in us a whole range of emotions and, above all, an adventure which, even if it overflows with love for the version original, shines for what it is and carries us away as much as in 1997, if not even more. With Rebirth, Final Fantasy has perhaps found the ideal formula to tell us a story, while leaving us free to experience it at our own pace. As in any rebirth, there is a before and an after, and this emerging future already promises to be exhilarating as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth already has all the qualities to be considered the ultimate game in the saga.- Jeuxvideo.com

Pacific Drive must be given the time it deserves to understand its myriad parameters and be able to appreciate them properly. But the atmosphere and the special relationship you create with the car really elevate the experience to a thoroughly enjoyable level. Naturally striking with its attractive concept, Ironwood Studios' game compensates for a redundant gameplay loop with a unique character.- Jeuxvideo.com

After more than 30 hours of play, Helldivers II remains devilishly addictive and extremely enjoyable. Although it still requires playing with several people (with friends or strangers) to fully appreciate its value, the game from Arrowhead Game Studios simply stands out as the best cooperative experience of the moment. If you've always dreamed of playing a mix between Starship Troopers and Terminator and want to be able to fight against hordes of enemies with great blasts from large calibers and orbital cannons, there's a good chance that you'll spend a excellent moment on Helldivers II. And while it may not seem like it at first glance, the game can even require a lot of strategy and restraint on the highest difficulty modes. If I would have liked slightly more solid servers and some additional finishes, I am already looking forward to knowing what the future of Helldivers II will hold. Regardless, I am immediately returning to fight for democracy and freedom. Long live Super-Earth!- Jeuxvideo.com

If not the ultimate pirate game, Skull and Bones is a good naval battle game that has arguments to make you want to get involved. So no, here, no third-person action phases: the adventure takes place almost exclusively on the waves, and once the element of surprise has passed, the qualities of Ubisoft's service game are revealed. The seven seas of the Indian Ocean are the subject of a solid atmosphere and technique, and the battles on the open sea are a real success. So, you may be struggling to get to the endgame, due to a fairly redundant progression, but believe us, the price is worth it. In short, a good surprise, far from the shipwreck that some saw on the horizon.- Jeuxvideo.com

Although that's how it made its notoriety during the May 2023 State of Play, Ultros is worth more than a glance. With their new game, Hadoque and Kepler Interactive innovate in the metroidvania genre with more than atypical mechanics around gardening. However, he is dragged down by a lack of help as well as fights that lack importance. Ultros remains a good title which, like a plant, needs time and investment for it to flower to its best potential.- Jeuxvideo.com

20 years. It is, often, the age symbolizing youth at its full potential. This is also the period between the release of Mario vs Donkey Kong on Game Boy Advance and its remake. It arrives exclusively on Nintendo Switch on February 16 and is the subject of an excellent makeover from "Big N". The reflection side still works just as well; features allow you to modernize the software; new content to extend its lifespan; without forgetting the more than careful graphics update which will make you forget the pixelated features of the original version. Mario vs Donkey Kong has gotten a big facelift thanks to a remake that we would like to see more often. A great game to look forward to the next plumber games. Remake or not.- Jeuxvideo.com

Generous in its narration as in its gameplay, Banishers firstly offers a level of writing which without any harm maintains the good reputation of Don'tnod in the matter, offering multiple narrative arcs with striking choices which consolidate all the coherence of the 'universe. At first a little summary, the clashes benefit from an exhilarating evolution, enabled by a concise skill tree and a natural progression of the characters, very complementary on the ground. We also retain certain lengths, marked by dispensable intrigues, a slow increase in the power of the gameplay and a somewhat frustrating research part.- Jeuxvideo.com

Rocksteady Studios promised to kill off DC's greatest heroes and that's what they did...in every sense of the word. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an effective looter shooter, if not surprising, but above all generic which struggles to renew the gaming experience throughout the adventure. Nevertheless, this open-world Action-RPG defends itself in terms of staging, visuals and especially writing with a tone that is both superheroic and humorous. The central “role playing” dimension of this type of video game proposition is not left out and is seduced by a constant rise in power of Task Force of America. Unfortunately, British studios never manage to rise to the level of the masters of the genre (Borderlands 3, Destiny 2 and even Outriders). Rocksteady's suicide mission is neither a failure nor a real success.- Jeuxvideo.com

On the one hand, it is a classic and effective solo adventure but not without its flaws (like the very behind-the-scenes side of exploration), and, on the other, an experience in multiplayer mode which brings together a bit of the best of worlds of JRPG, at the crossroads of a Tales of and a Monster Hunter, and offers a crazy diversity of approaches thanks to the unique gameplay of its heroes.- Jeuxvideo.com

Persona 3 Reload is a model in terms of a role-playing game remake. The title takes everything that makes the charm of the original game to modernize the experience and correct its flaws by drawing inspiration from Persona 5. Thanks to comfort options, the formula combining daily management and dungeon exploration becomes one of even more addictive. As a result, we are even more captivated by its cast of endearing characters and especially its perfectly oiled combat system. Add to this a fabulous graphic and musical overhaul and the adventure is all the more pleasant to navigate. In a nutshell, Persona 3 Reload is a great way to (re)discover Persona 3 and the perfect game to wait for Persona 6.- Jeuxvideo.com

Tekken 8 is full of excitement and we loved it! Technically, in both substance and form, the Bandai Namco fighting game is a gem of the genre. If it sometimes lacks a little originality in terms of content, but there is still a lot of it, it all makes it one of the best 3D fighting games of recent years. Its new features in terms of gameplay are enough to stand out from previous opuses and hold its own against its competitors, all with vast content that is still substantial enough to play for dozens of hours. And as long as you are addicted to online confrontations, Tekken 8 really has something to satisfy and challenge you for a very, very long time! The whole is also served by an absolutely magnificent production which immediately immerses you in extremely aggressive and intense battles.- Jeuxvideo.com

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell surprised me. With an artistic direction very different from the genre's references, I expected a less controlled experience. Mea culpa since Momodora certainly offers a title far from the norm but without a false note. It offers well-paced exploration, gameplay that is far from revolutionary but effective and all wrapped in an attractive artistic direction. Momodora: Moonlit Farewell shows that you don't have to have excessive ambitions to be a good game.- Jeuxvideo.com

In short, we would like all remasters to be like The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Here, Naughty Dog intelligently expands the content of the PS4 masterpiece, with - already - behind the scenes everything (Lost Levels, audio comments) and above all, a roguelite mode which really wowed us. It's simply the perfect excuse to dive back into the universe and visceral action of Part 2, with a lifespan now extended from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Even the small graphics boost, in 4K Native, has its effect - despite a slightly disappointing 30 FPS (even with VRR). In the end, a remaster that doesn't make fun of us at all.- Jeuxvideo.com

Fluid, well-paced, easy to handle and with multiple settings to adapt to all ways of playing, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown sets the bar high. Relying on the best references of the genre at the risk of not letting its personal touch twirl, the app ticks all the boxes of a very good action adventure platformer. Ubisoft has created a Metroidvania that meets the specifications, clean, without major burrs, but also without a little something that makes it as unique as a legendary gem. If you like the genre, go for it.- Jeuxvideo.com
