With Ghostrunner 2, the One More Level studio is making an action-adventure shift that is not without its challenges. By focusing on larger and not always very precise areas, we lose a little of what made the first part charming... Here, “die and retry” is more often synonymous with frustration, which results in a less addictive experience! The adventure is thus punctuated by attempts (more or less successful) to flesh out the experience - with a few passages that stand out, particularly in the second part. We therefore end up with a pleasant experience, driven by gameplay that is always effective, but which gets lost a little too often.- Jeuxvideo.com

It's difficult to write a complete review when the great strengths of the game in question revolve around surprise. But with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo delivers an almost perfect performance. Almost fifteen after New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this new episode reconnects the series of 2D platform games with the exceptional. While remaining faithful to it and keeping its gameplay devilishly simple and effective, it brings new ideas that hit the mark. The entire production is reminiscent of a musical comedy which never ceases to dazzle the player both in form and content. Mario is off to Wonderland, and so are we.- Jeuxvideo.com

With its mix of several genres (rogue-lite, twin-stick shooter, tower-defense), Endless Dungeon had everything to break your head. However, the French from Amplitude Studios have proven to us once again that they are capable of playing in the big leagues. Thanks to its originality, its very well-balanced rhythm and its impressive artistic direction, Endless Dungeon can be enjoyed alone or in cooperation with up to three players. And even if the runs are long and the narration lacks a bit of direction, you always want to get lost in the space station to finally reach the reactor. An excellent game which allows a very good end to a year 2023 already rich in content for rogue-lite fans.- Jeuxvideo.com

Spider-Man 2 is a very successful mainstream blockbuster, which will easily please fans of the license. The adventure is more explosive than ever, with technique that is sometimes truly impressive, a New York twice as big as in the past and even more in-depth side missions. That being said, Insomniac relies a little too much on the strengths (and weaknesses) of previous games, missing the opportunity to take the gameplay and writing a little further. In the end, it lacks a bit of momentum, of material to give life to a second episode that meets our expectations, but we still had an excellent time.- Jeuxvideo.com

That's it, CI Games and HexWorks finally have the Souls-like they wanted to add to their portfolio. Making a clean slate of the past is never easy, but Lords of the Fallen has definitely risen to this second chance. Yet anchored in a very classic formula which could have been detrimental to it, Lords of the Fallen does not rest on the laurels of others and delivers some interesting ideas which set it apart from the competition. Despite everything, the title still has too many small flaws and frustrations to climb to the top of the rankings. That being said, we are convinced of the potential of the license, even if it will need more effort to assert itself and flourish. This is not quite the case yet, but the second (a sequel?) will perhaps be the good one, as the destiny of the franchise dictates.- Jeuxvideo.com

Permanently taken by the hand, the player who sets out to discover Detective Pikachu Returns must be young enough to appreciate the formula... but not too young if they don't want to be put off by the idea of spending 12 hours reading texts. As for older fans of the Pokémon saga, they will try it just to discover the end of this incredible story which features a Pikachu with a gravelly voice dressed as Sherlock Holmes and a great coffee lover.- Jeuxvideo.com

Assassin’s Creed Mirage didn’t lie to us. The new opus offers us a return to basics in due form, with an old-fashioned credo and modern mechanics à la Unity. A true melting pot - both in terms of approaches, NPCs and mechanics taken from previous ACs - Mirage is a call to almost limitless freedom. On the other hand, its old-fashioned gameplay, its small technical shortcomings and its very classic side risk leaving some behind. But fans of the license have with Mirage a gripping story, a pleasant breath of nostalgia and a new grandiose dive into great History. Yes, Basim's adventure does not reinvent the wheel, but it is an excellent way to wait for the next big game in the license, Assassin's Creed Codename Red.- Jeuxvideo.com

With this Forza Motorsport 2023 edition, Turn 10 resets the counters and delivers a car racing game with a titanium chassis capable of carrying the license for several years. Beautiful, fluid, offering very good "simcade" driving sensations, it offers the right modes with the necessary parameters to satisfy almost everyone. Both ultra permissive (in its challenge) and restrictive (in the improvements to be unlocked), this reboot is a bit of a search. Aiming at a very wide audience thanks to its numerous options, it is nonetheless dedicated to fans of pretty cars, those who are able to go beyond its definitively austere appearance (and the absence of urban circuits) to let themselves be captivated by the joys of motorized competition, both solo and online. Nice job.- Jeuxvideo.com

Counter Strike 2 did not pass the weapon to the left. This is evidenced by the many players still on the title but also the modifications made more in form than in substance. Thanks to the new Source 2 engine, maps that players have known for more than 20 years are getting a makeover without changing one bit the range of possible tactics or the gameplay sensations. Basically, this update called Counter Strike 2 seems to be more about getting up to speed with the competition than attracting a new audience. What's the point of revolutionizing a team that's already winning?- Jeuxvideo.com

FIFA 23 was undoubtedly the most complete title in the saga under the old name, and EA Sports FC 24 goes a little further despite the name change. If the title does not really move the furniture in the Career modes (whether manager or player), it drastically increases the variety of the Ultimate Team mode by adding women's football maps or the principle of evolving maps. We will especially appreciate the well-revised gameplay compared to last season, with deep races and advantageous fast players, but a fairly clever construction and pressing system. Also note, the change in visual identity of the menus, some additions of stadiums like that of Lille to properly launch the EA Sports FC lineage.- Jeuxvideo.com

How can we continue to keep a legendary video game series that has just celebrated its 30th anniversary alive? NetherRealm has decided. The apprentice sorcerers led by Ed Boon reanimate the beast and opt for a nice reboot taking care of its accessibility strategy, adding a big touch of RPG (Invasions) and deepening its gameplay with a feature previously unpublished in the series (Kaméos). Despite its aggressive Live service side, fairly classic solo/multi modes and the disappearance of elements loved by fans, the title published by WB Games hits hard if not delivering an uppercut.- Jeuxvideo.com

If it doesn't reinvent the wheel, Payday 3 modernizes its four-player heist formula with accuracy and intelligence, and that's all we ask of it. The eight missions available to date are well done - and make excellent use of the few new mechanics. All in all, the life of a “controller in hand” thug is still just as demanding. Even if we can criticize a slight lack of content, especially for the arsenal, this third part already sticks to the skin with a system of skills, difficulty modes which always make you want to start again and achieve the ideal run. A superb foundation for the future.- Jeuxvideo.com

We thought F-Zero was dead and buried since 2004. But with F-Zero 99, Nintendo made a nice surprise by bringing the Golden Fox and the Blue Falcon out of the garage. The gameplay sensations of the time are intact and both beginners and beginners can enjoy this modernized iteration thanks to its unique and energized parts. However, and quite logically, it will not replace an entire episode (remaster or new game) that many fans were waiting for. The fault is very little content at the moment and the absence of a multiplayer mode. F-Zero 99 will bring a smile back, even if only for a few hours, to all fans of the license who have been patient for 19 years. And that's already not bad.- Jeuxvideo.com

Beautiful, rich in content, varied in what it offers, The Crew Motorfest is a very good 100% arcade open world racing game. Riding on the heels of Forza Horizon, it is currently one of the most successful clones of the genre leader, even if this means that the French studio preferred to take the lead from its British competitor rather than plow its own furrow. The Ivory Tower software is more effective than surprising, but its qualities are numerous enough that we do not look at its predecessors, in retro, with regrets.- Jeuxvideo.com

Phantom Liberty is everything we expected from a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, if not more. This techno-thriller immerses players in a gripping story that will have an unprecedented impact on the game universe. The ruined neighborhood of Dogtown is not to be outdone with its post-war atmosphere where the law of the strongest reigns supreme. master. Rich in content for around twenty hours of play, this DLC masterfully concludes V's dystopian epic in Night City.- Jeuxvideo.com
