As magnetizing as when it debuted 12 years ago, the Bayonetta series remains a reference in terms of beat 'em up. Far from the intimate character of the last God of War, the witch of Umbra spits in the mouth of the narration to bet everything on the verb and the skill. Extremely deep combat system, pounding bosses, insane pacing from first to last chapter.

After more than 60 hours spent on the lands of Hokkaido, juggling main missions, side quests, and endless exploration, the answer isn’t simple. Sucker Punch plays on two fronts: technical conservatism and artistic boldness. Of course, the game isn’t perfect: some mechanics feel recycled, climbing remains archaic, stealth can be frustrating, and technically, you can tell the engine has its limits. But Ghost of Yotei more than makes up for these flaws with its world, storytelling, atmosphere, and that rare feeling of truly losing yourself in a dreamed-up, poetic, and simultaneously violent version of feudal Japan. In short, Ghost of Yotei isn’t a revolution, nor a breathtaking technical leap. It’s a respectful sequel, sometimes conservative, yet one that manages to elevate the original experience through its artistic direction, immersion, and narrative. It’s a game to be savored as much as played, one that delights, moves, and, above all, reminds us why we love virtual feudal Japan: for its landscapes, its mood, and those unforgettable moments when you truly feel like a part of the story.

This Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a good deal! Well yes, the most grumpy will talk about the absence of a precise DLC, the disappearance of the multiplayer mode of Mass Effect 3, but all of this doesn't really weigh much in relation to the quantity and quality of what is offered to us.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is a great remaster on all counts with some very nice new features like the possibility to speed up the game by 4 times to shorten the exploration phase. A must-play for J-RPG fans.

The only problem with Homeworld Remastered Collection is that it misses out on Homeworld Cataclysm, a worthy stand-alone. Otherwise, we deal here with a really polished remake where everything has been done in the right way.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a very good solo FPS (which is already a rarity in the current game market) with a good story and a great sense of humor peppered by intense gunfights.

Stop worrying, this new Dante is one hell of a stylish demon killer. Ninja Theory has done a pretty wonderful job on the game's background to give a fresh start to this Capcom saga, thanks to a great work from their artists. But DmC clearly contains the old Devil May Cry DNA in its gameplay: nervous, brutal and brilliant. In spite of some approximations in the platform phases and some limits of the Unreal Engine, DmC is the perfect hybrid of new ideas and respect of the saga legacy.

No matter what historic setting is chosen by Ubisoft for Assassin's Creed, it remains very authentic and immersive and it keeps you involved. But you can't ignore that the series begins to be seriously stuck on its basis and there isn't really any attempt to fix its problems. AI is as lame as usual, we already know all the types of missions we are offered... Hopefully Ubisoft will make something big for the next installment.

Expectations were sky-high for Silent Hill f, a true new entry in a series that’s been dormant far too long. Konami trusted Taiwanese studio Neobards Entertainment, and the result is stunning visually and technically, with bold choices like 1960s Japan and more action. The writing is subtle and sharp, making the game feel unique and ambitious. But the gameplay lets it down. It’s clunky, slow, and frustrating, with too many tedious fights, a poorly designed stamina system, and puzzles that feel overcomplicated. The potential is huge, yet the execution keeps you from fully enjoying it. In the end, it’s a polarizing game: impressive and daring in style, but clumsy to play. One step forward, two steps back. Silent Hill deserves better than a beautiful shell hiding rusty mechanics.

The Games Workshop franchise is particularly well-suited to Total War, which gets rid of its realistic and historical aspect to become crazier. Fantastic spells and demonic creatures are present, and it works well. In addition, Total War Warhammer 3 has the merit of offering us a quality scripted prologue, just to welcome novices as it should.

Let's be honest, we were pretty freaked out by the result obtained with Indiana Jones and the Circle of the Ancients, especially after the latest gameplay videos that were released. The issues identified with the AI and the stiff animations are there, but they manage to be hidden by the rest of the game, which are actually the heart of this adventure. Exploration, puzzles, story, narration, characters, atmosphere and even the fights somewhere, all of this takes over to offer us a gripping, captivating adventure that perfectly transcribes the Indy of the 80s. Even the view in the first video that was much criticized works well and it's a real pleasure to have gone through these 32 hours of play in the leather jacket of our coolest archaeologist on the planet. The game also shines with its technical aspect, with very rich graphics and a total change of scenery! We loved our adventure despite its flaws and we hope that a sequel will come to correct and strengthen a license that can try to do as well as Uncharted and Tomb Raider.

After years of well-founded hopes, we can say without any doubt that Diablo 3 succeeded in arriving on consoles. The HUD has been cleverly modified and you don't have to be connected to Internet or to the fateful Auction House anymore. Talking gameplay, the possibility of playing up to four players on one screen is a really good idea. It's just a shame that such a porting stayed in the dark for more than one year. Anyway, if you don't care about PC's, go for it now.

Even if we recommend going for the PC version of Civilization VI, the Switch version is quite tempting with cleaver controls and a full experience on mobile format. We only regret the very long processing time between turns towards the end-game.

With Max Payne 3, Rockstar Games proves that the studio masters action games in the most brilliant way, despite Max Payne 3 not being an open-world title. If there were no doubts about narration, the gameplay system also remains very atttractive thanks to the perfect introduction of the bullet time and the Shootdodge abilities, two strong aspects players are already familiar with. Rockstar Games offers a great experience, full of details, and depicts an amazing trip through Brazil and its favelas. A masterpiece in which Rockstar Games excels at introducing a tortured character whose adventures will surely give you the chills.

Two years after the first game, Rocksmith 2014 does not convince us that it improved over its ancestor. Of course the menus are simpler and the overhaul of modes was a necessity. The lessons are plentiful and more detailed, the playlist still rocks and the teaching method is good for beginners. But some flaws are still present, whether it be the tuning recognition, or the need to have a specific setup to avoid latency; and new ones appear (unpolished Riff mode, useless impro mode, way overpriced). To sum up, those who bought the first episode of the series won't find anything groundbreaking in this new Rocksmith.

Forza Horizon 2 is a total success, from a technical point of a view and from a content point a view. Playground Games has been aware of the demands of their fans and fixed what needed to be. Purists will enjoy all the parameters which were lacking in 2012. But the main quality of this episode is this open world offering of wonderful landscapes.

For once, FIFA 14 could divide its fan base. Being more and more realistic, the game becomes more and more demanding. Don't misunderstand us: this is the main reason why FIFA 14 is better than FIFA 13. Passing the ball, building your chances: that's what this new FIFA is about. And exceptional players are only a solution if you make them play for the team. With the new features in Career Mode and the release of a 2-players Seasons Mode, it's certainly the best FIFA ever, and the best football game for now.

Bayonetta Wii U is simply the very best version of PlatimunGames's beat'em all thanks to it's concrete-stable 60 FPS frame-rate. A must-have when you know the speed of the game. Top all that with some Nintendo character love, and you got the ultimate.

There are not many new contents and features in Dance Central 3 that make it one of a kind. And yet, with a new Story mode, the developers offer a good opportunity for players that are eager to learn their moves alone without the need of inviting all of his neighbors. If Dance Central 3 appears to be less than Just Dance 4, the title remains interesting with its clever and difficult progression.

If Nintendo refuses to start developing new licenses, it's only because the firm already has enough talent to efficiently renew it's existing ones with a success others have yet to match. Luigi's Mansion 2 is a perfect example of this pattern as Luigi's new adventures in haunted houses hack your mind like drugs once the player understands the finer points of the game. The gameplay has a great finesse which is very enjoyable and the directing along the general atmosphere are almost a masterpiece. Of course the lack of a second controlling stick is not the best feature of the game and we would have liked a multiplayer mode with more rhythm. But the number of qualities provided by Luigi's Mansion 2 makes this game a classic of the 3DS lineup.

With Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom is making an incredible comeback. Not that this sequel revolutionizes the franchise, but it reminds us that it was innovative 12 years ago. Because long before Zelda Breath of the Wold and Elden Ring, Capcom had already initiated itself into systemic gaming, by presenting a less interventionist and above all more innovative open world. With a first attempt in 2012, the Japanese studio once again imposed its ideas, still as contemporary twelve years later. Proof that Capcom was ahead of its time and that it had already understood that the freedom offered to the player had to come through a questioning of the open world game.

There is no pleasure without some pain. There is no pain without a certain pleasure. These words spoken by the monk Henepola Gunaratana (94 years old this year) perfectly match what Returnal stands for. The game is far from free flaws, but it offers a thunderous spectacle, especially during boss battles, with these ballets of particles that light up the screen and make you want to be contemplative.
