In spite of all the strong framerate dips, and poor textures, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is simply the best game of the IP. A true masterpiece that transforms the series we all know into something else, a true adventure for grown ups, a game you must play.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolute masterpiece, a true unique gaming experience. With its realistic and lifelike open world, Rockstar Games redefines what's possible in terms of interactive environment. Better yet, RDR2 is almost perfect on the technical standpoint with mesmerizing graphics, incredibly rich gameplay and one of the best stories ever written. An instant cult classic. A masterpiece among the best of them, GTA 5 is out on next gen consoles in an improved version, and it is hardly believable. Vastly improved graphics, a good use of the Dualshock 4's features and the FPS viewpoint make this version a contender for the hall of fame.

We were expecting a tremendous Mario, but in the end, Super Mario Odyssey is not as glorious as it appears. If it has undeniable qualities with well-oiled gameplay mechanics, it also displays technical issues and inequalities in the worlds we visited. Plus, the costumes that we earn are only cosmetic bonuses and the adventure ends a little quickly. But don't panic, Super Mario Odyssey is still a good episode and we've had fun with it.

GTA 5 PC is the best version of Rockstar North's game by a huge margin. Period.

Translating 13 years of legacy into a gigantic open world was quite a big challenge, and FromSoftware did it brilliantly with Zelda Breath of the Wild as a guide. But, to be honest, we don't share the opinion of most of our colleagues: Elden Ring is an excellent title, but it still lacks something to have the stuff of a GOTY 2022.

Some will say that this Zelda Tears of the Kingdom looks more like DLC++ than the real sequel to Breath of the Wild, and they won't be completely wrong; at least in the first 10/12 hours of play. But by opening its world to the sky, the game changes perspective, opens up new horizons and the open world becomes even more exhilarating to explore. Yes, Tears of the Kingdom will not revolutionize video games like Breath of the Wild did 6 years ago, but it reinforces its gaming possibilities in the most solid way, and above all offers a new way to rediscover its open world. Tears of the Kingdom is to Breath of the Wild what Majora's Mask was to Ocarina of Time, a complementary but above all essential adventure.

With The Last of Us, Naughty Dog provides us with a hell of a masterpiece, which will continue to occupy the thoughts of gamers in the coming years, simply because it redefines the standards of survival Horror games. Instead of using and abusing horrific scenes as is the case with the competitors, the game provides a chronic stress that chews on your brains bit by bit punctuated by great epic scenes. The infected people are relentless and unforgiving, though a bit like the Clickers who will rip your head at the slightest sound. The listening system does not impact the challenge and finds itself an invaluable asset when things get really dirty. As one needs to seduce casual gamers, The Last of Us also has its own action scenes, hence the criticism from the purists of this kind of game. But can we really be skeptical when facing the nicest game of this generation of consoles ? No, we cant...

Do you need to get The Last of Us Remastered? Yes, if you didn't get the opportunity to play this PS3 masterpiece. The game enjoys the power of the PS4 without any trouble in very high resolution. The 60fps argument hits its target too, just like the price tag. But if you've already been there, no need to open your wallet, as this Remastered version doesn't bring anything new enough to put 50 euros on it.

Since our hands-on preview, we already knew that Team Asobi was going to have a great adventure in store for us with Astro Bot, but we didn't imagine that the Japanese studio was going to perform so well. More than a real aesthetic for its game, with a captivating, shimmering and warm universe, Astro Bot also surprises with the precision of its gameplay. The fluidity with which the actions follow one another, the surgical playability, this incredible tempo that gives the feeling that everything is possible makes the game absolutely phenomenal in its gameplay. Add to that a new idea at each new level, gadgets that never stop varying the pleasures, environments all different from each other, massive bosses that are a real pleasure to face and we undoubtedly get one of the best 3D platformers of the last ten years. Nintendo had the monopoly on the genre with the quality of its productions until now, but now, we will have to count on Nicolas Doucet and Team Asobi. Now, as we detailed in our paper, Sony must realize that platformers must come back in force in its ecosystem, like in the good old days of PS2 / PS3 with licenses (Ape Escape, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, LocoRocco, Sly Raccoon), which had nevertheless left their mark. Because a talent like that must not disappear...

God of War has amazed us from the narrative standpoint as well as with its incredible graphics. The new adventures of Kratos redefines the beat’em all genre, and makes the game the best exclusive on the PS4 since its inception.

FromSoftware has indeed injected Sekiro into its Elden Ring, and it is no longer the same twist at all. Of course, with perseverance, you will succeed, but it will be through pain, rarely through pleasure. Some like it when the wounds are open, others much less. Fortunately, the title has other arguments that militate in its favor, such as these new territories to explore, its hundred weapons to test, its new adversaries with whom to cross fire, and others that we have already seen a ten times in the Japanese studio's previous productions. Let's agree, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree remains a very good game and a high quality DLC, but for its overall imbalance, it is necessarily less interesting than the original game.

Like it's ancestor, Bioshock Infinite should be in the hall of fame of videogames. Not for technical reasons, as the game is not quite top notch on that front, but it is magnificent for artistic reasons. Columbia is absolutely spectacular, as the universe does not limit itself to scripted areas, and the storyline has a real point beyond entertainment. In sharp contrast to the mass of videogames that are forgotten ten minutes after the gamers are done playing with them, Bioshock Infinite will forever impact the memories of those who have the chance to experience it. FPS fans will like the different elements of the game such as fails, airtrains and Elizabeth that allow an increase in the fight's rhythm, a vast improvement over the first Bioshock. Whether you're an intellectual or a trigger happy maniac, you will definitely find a reason to enjoy this fabulous game. Long live Bioshock Infinite.

Once the first 5 hours of God of War Ragnarök have passed, which look like a giant tutorial, the adventure finally really begins and becomes an epic odyssey, much more ambitious than the first episode. The gameplay gains in depth with relevant or ingenious additions, the fights slam hard, especially the bosses (finally colossal monsters!) and exploration will take you to sometimes immense and visually very varied kingdoms. But we especially retain from this God of War Ragnarök a breathtaking staging which multiplies the spectacular and emotive sequences. A truly must-have.

As unbelievable as it can be, The Last of Us Part II improves on pretty much every aspect of the first game to make this sequel a true masterpiece.

Divinity: Original Sin II is most likely the game of the year with an enormous amount of very good content, awesome graphics and class leading combats. One of the best RPG games ever.

Super Mario 3D World is using mechanics from another century, but is Nintendo to blame if old recipes still work? The risk-taking stays minimal, and the core gamers will mostly enjoy the two last worlds in spite of a difficulty level that has improved significantly. Impossible to forget the level design and the precision of the gameplay, which defines the game. Even the multiplayer mode is good in spite of some camera problems. Nintendo set everything to perfection and most players should enjoy this Super Mario 3D World.

Far from having suffered the ravages of time, this PC port of GOD OF WAR is more beautiful than ever. Some options allow graphics to be pushed to the limit, while others are intended to relieve less powerful machines. But what struck us the most in January 2022 was finally to see how far the adventure was ahead of its time. Four years after its release on PlayStation consoles, the game is still as sublime, addicting and impactful.

Persona 5 is clearly one of the best J-RPGs of its generation with a reworked combat system that adds a lot of rhythm, and the whole side of the student life at the academy. The only drawback is the dated visuals.

A punch in the face, a huge gaming experience, a title with a nearly perfect gameplay and an adapted story-telling, eye candy and above all a wonderful Metal Gear: this fifth installment is a little bit of all that.

Known for changing the world of the Third Person Shooter almost 20 years ago, Resident Evil 4 returns in a remake that proves once again that Capcom have become the experts when it comes to restoring a masterpiece. The graphics are gorgeous, the gameplay has smoothed out, and the game remains an action gaming landmark even in 2023.

Uncharted 4 : A Thief's End is arguably the game of the year 2016, and probably the best game the PS4 will spawn. With amazing graphics and a strong narrative, which sees a more grown up and mature Nathan Drake, Naughty Dog has crafted another masterpiece.

In spite of a good solo mode, rich content and a decent technical side, Super Smash Bros seems more like a Deluxe version than a Swicth-specific production. Unless you're a fan of the IP, this game is far from a must-have.

After LIMBO, INSIDE is another masterpiece from Playdead. Maybe not that innovative with its gameplay, this new game is above all a great performance when it comes to setting an atmosphere and telling a story without saying a word. And, yes, it's beautiful.

It's hard not to be impressed by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, if only for the sheer ambition it displays. From its very first minutes, the game sets a strong, atypical aesthetic framework, almost disturbing in its tormented beauty. The universe, somewhere between surrealistic nightmare and waking dream, is unlike anything currently on the J-RPG scene. But Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is more than just a visual daring, for beneath its visual and symbolic layers lies a surprisingly dense, rich and, above all, dynamic combat system. Combining turn-based and real-time reflexes, the game redefines the genre's expectations by forcing it out of its comfort zone. But ambitious as it is, Expedition 33 is not without its faults. The game's overly linear structure hinders exploration. The environments, as beautiful as they are, sometimes suffer from a lack of interaction and a rather flat level design. The title isn't perfect, but it's terribly sincere, and above all it's a work that dares and often succeeds.

Forza Horizon 4 seals the IP as the best arcade racer on the market, and even further, as a very good software to help players to improve their skill and get into true sim racing. With loads of content and a very rich environment the game only lets us down by its quite dull setting of Great Britain. We would have loved something bigger and more exotic.

Ignoring the strong nostalgia for 1997, is this second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake really up to par? Objectively, the game blows hot and cold. As a pure remake, the work done by the Kitase teams is impressive, that's undeniable, but compared to what's being done today, the title lags a bit technically speaking. Graphically, the game is not up to the standards of a PS5 exclusive game and could run perfectly on PS4. The engine is showing its age and even the recent Final Fantasy XVI outclasses this Rebirth in its technique. And what about its archaic open world, which proves that the engine used is clearly not adapted to large spaces where interactions and a semblance of life must be created? On this side, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has both feet in the carpet, with a "parkour" system which is often difficult to see, failing to generate fits of laughter. And then, there are also all these moments which seem artificially extended so that we can display the 40/50 hours of gameplay of the main plot. Conversely, FF VII Rebirth takes the time to develop its characters, to give them bonds of camaraderie, to be a little more human than the silent polygons we knew 30 years ago. The combat system has gained in depth, thanks in particular to this synergy system which allows you to create combined attacks, often offering epic moments. Obviously, for the almost blinded fanboy, this FF VII Rebirth sounds like a gift falling from the sky, but for the average person who looks at it from afar, and with better perspective, they will see it as a great experience, but clearly not the GOTY 2024.

New art direction, more attractive graphics, a multitude of new animations, facial expressions for Mario, his friends and even enemies, and humor everywhere, this Super Mario Wonder has done things in a big way for his return as a 2D platform game. The setting is magnificent, but the gameplay is also breathtaking. It must be said that Nintendo had fun and the imagination of the developers was overflowing. A game design idea at each new level is a bit of the promise of this game, which manages to give new life into a saga that will soon be 40 years old. We come away from this experience with a smile on our faces.

While being very short, Journey on PS4 still amazes us with its reworked visuals and an even better gameplay experience. One of the classics on Playstation.

With Bloodborne, From Software creates a masterpiece that will make it into the PS4's hall of fame. This new RPG is simply one of the best games we've ever came across thanks to a great gameplay, a vicious difficulty and a great artistic sense.

After five episodes, Playground Games clearly mastered the Forza Horizon formula to the perfection. In both substance and form, the success is total. The game even deploys enough assets to convince beyond car lovers, because the adventure mode offers features that remind us the structure of an action-RPG than of a classic racing game.

The Witcher 3 is a captivating game and a gorgeous title. Thanks to a very inspired artistic department, offering an even more accurate view on the gloomy world Geralt lives in, this third part proves itself as one of the most beautiful games ever made. But there is more: if CD Projekt took its game open-world, it's not simply for the sake of doing so. They handcrafted a very lively, very concrete universe in which you can enjoy your freedom to be the witcher you always wanted to be.

This time there will be no debate. With Street Fighter 6, Capcom has managed to bring together the two audiences under one banner: experts in the discipline as well as laymen. There is something for everyone, the game being deep enough for VS Fighting specialists and intelligently accessible for newbies who are just starting out. Less zoning, more aggressiveness, this new iteration has also boosted its gameplay to adapt to all player profiles.

Demon's Souls may be a remake form a game released in 2009, but it's clearly the only game currently available that offers visuals that truly feel next gen. Moreover it's a very good remake of an already awesome game, a must buy if you have a PS5.

Fire Emblem Awakening is, by many ways, a classic Japanese Tactical-RPG. However, Intelligent Systems has done a fantastic work to put the characters at the center of the game. By making them unique and lively, developers force the player to be more accurate and to pay attention to his tactical choices.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U is a quality game indeed. Brilliant, full of life, meticulously animated, this brand-new episode will rejoice those who were delighted by the 3DS opus.

Bayonetta 1 & 2 is a very good remaster that brings the witch into the modern age with 720p 60fps display, and above all portability. The only drawback is that the first game shows its age, especially when in portable mode, but the gameplay makes all those complaints irrelevant.

With richer content, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a very good version of the game that will seduce the gamers into buying it for their Switch. We especially liked the new battle mode, and playing it on the go is just bliss.

If you can buy one game in 2012, it should be Dishonored. From production to its ingenious gameplay, Arkhane Studios' title is outstanding, with its multiple references to many games such as Deus Ex, Thief, Bioshock or Half Life 2. It's simple, Dishonored is a 2-in-1 game you can finish either with violence and lots of action sequences, or with discretion, applying stealth strategies to kill your enemies without being seen.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is simply the best flight sim money can buy at the moment, and is the rightful heir to Flight Simulator X, while making us forget about the very poor Microsoft Flight from 2012.

If you can forget about its dubious commercial policy (high price, a myriad of microtransactions), then Overwatch becomes a very strong game, with many characters which are very distinct from one another. All of this with the Blizzard touch that makes each of their games accessible and polished.

Even though the game is technically perfectible, the fact that Bayonetta 2 is the best beat'em up game currently on sale shouldn't give you any doubts on weather to buy it or not. True question is this: is it worth buying a Wii U just for this game? Oh yeah it is.

Forza Horizon 3 is one of the best iterations of the series, with awesome visuals and lots of content. It would have been perfect with a worthy cockpit view and few more new things.

In 2005, Shadow of the Colossus was already known for being an incredible masterpiece, making Fumito Ueda one of the most talented game designers of his generation. 13 years later, the game returns to PS4 more majestic than ever, while Bluepoint has just redefined the term "remake". More than a masterpiece, it's a major and necessary work.

Split Fiction is simply the It Takes Two formula but with the knobs pushed to the maximum. In addition to this absolute, complementary cooperation that never pretends, Josef Farès and his teams have added a frenetic pace that we owe to this approach that is much more action than in the past. With this tempo that has gained momentum and a lot of dynamism, we chain together situations and levels without ever getting bored for a single moment, especially since the game is constantly reinventing itself.

Disco Elysium goes straight to the hall of fame of RPGs where it will sit right besides Planetscape Torment. A true masterpiece.

After a deceiving The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which left us with bad memories, Nintendo thought it was time to get back to basics with A Link Between Worlds, inspired by the majestic A Link to the Past. Twenty years later, the core fans will find themselves in known territory with the same map, the three collars to lift the legendary sword and the seven sages to rescue; giving the game the looks of a remake which it isn't. If the basics are there, the dev team took some freedom like the ability to complete dungeons in any order you want, without any impact on the story. Transform into a painting to walk on walls brings a fresh touch to an already very good gameplay, even if we can sense a lack of inspiration. Truly, the worst flaw of A Link Between Worlds is the casual turn taken by the series, which ruins the challenge. The enigmas are too easy, we have access to all the objects right at start, and the Fatustus are plentiful. Happily, the rich game content should seduce newcomers and franchise fans alike.

Like Sony with Shadow of the Colossus, Capcom gives us a wonderful remake with Resident Evil 2. A game that knows how to keep the original DNA of the franchise while modernizing other aspects. Surely a very good survival horror game and a must-buy for 2019.

With Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo brings back its iconic gorilla in a bold, fresh take on the 3D platformer. On paper, it has all the right ingredients for a hit: a core mechanic built around full-on destruction, fully destructible environments that encourage exploration, a fun set of transformations, a dash of RPG systems, and a colorful, modern visual style. At first, it works. The game makes a strong first impression, smashing everything in sight is instantly satisfying, and there’s real freedom in how you approach levels. But after a few hours, the cracks start to show. The level design, which is so important in a 3D platformer, runs out of steam pretty fast. The early zones feel fresh, but later areas tend to blur together, with lots of rocky, cave-like environments that feel repetitive. Honestly, it feels like you spend 80% of the game underground.Pacing is also a bit off. The game throws a ton of stuff at you (objectives, collectibles, side systems), but rarely takes the time to give them real meaning. You start to feel overwhelmed, and after a while, the gameplay loop gets a bit too repetitive. There's so much going on that it ends up feeling cluttered, and the experience loses some of its clarity. Still, don’t get us wrong, we had a good time. But after our preview, we were kind of expecting a masterpiece, maybe even a game-changer for 3D platformers. So yeah,we came back down to earth a bit.

Dark Souls 2 won't change anything: if you liked the experience FromSoftware offered in the former episodes, then you will like it again. But if not, you won't start liking now. The great atmosphere, the feeling of loneliness, the intriguing soundtrack and the difficulty still make the quality of this game. But Dark Souls 2 begins to fall behind from the technical point of view, and it's far too demanding for such old-school gameplay.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is a good entry in the series with it's new features like terraforming and crafting, but overall it's not a revolution, and it surely won't convince gamers who dislike the IP.

One year ago, Blizzard succeeded in adapting Diablo 3 on consoles, thanks to an all new way to play with a gamepad. Diablo III : Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Edition aims even higher : 1080p, 60fps, the huge content of the main episode and the expansion, some new things here and there; no doubt it is the Ultimate version of the game. If until now you were hesitating, there's no reason any longer.

Trials HD was already a funny and addictive game on Xbox LIVE Arcade, but with Trials Evolution, RedLynx proves to us that we can make wonderful games with great ideas and little money. And the new features such as the multiplayer mode, the large number of stages and the map editor bring Trials Evolution to the next level. A must have!

If the first hours of play lead us to believe that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is just a simple PS5 update of previous episodes, we quickly realize that the game goes much further! More beautiful and more detailed, the game stands out above all for its ultra spectacular staging. The gameplay is also more intense thanks to mechanics that improve the combat system. The treatment of Venom is fabulous, and he is the perfect epitome of what we expect from this iconic character. It has never been so well transcribed on screen, and for that, Insomniac Games must receive the highest praise. The other characters are not left out, whether Kraven, but also Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The studio has understood this universe so much that it must serve as a model for the MCU and Sony Pictures films, which have often failed in cinema.

With rayman Legends, the PS4 and Xbox One welcome one of the best platform games of the past year, at a very attractive price of 40€. Indeed, this versions is still not as good as the Wii U version that uses the gamepad at it's full potential, and we can still moan about the fact that this feature hasn't been used in the PS Vita version. But we have to mention the improved graphics and the enhanced fluidity in those 2014 versions of the game, moreover a few added content is the cherry on top of the cake. If you haven't already played it, now is the right time to do so.

Ori and the Blind Forest was already a masterpiece, but Ori and the Will of the Wisps manages to be even better thanks to new gameplay ideas and new characters. Simply a must-play.

Should you buy this remastered version of The Last of Us 2 on PS5? Yes, of course ! Beyond remaking one of the best games in history with Red Dead Redemption 2 in better conditions, we can especially enjoy the "No Return" mode, which is the essential asset of the title, bringing hours and hours of play in addition, and above all a major challenge to measure this incredible gameplay. And then I remind you that if you already have the game on PS4, the update will only cost you €10, while the full game is offered at €50. And then, need I remind you how The Last of Us Part 2 is a remarkable game in many ways? Through the finesse of their writing, Neil Druckmann and Harley Gross have managed to make their work a ton of emotions where contrary feelings mix, blurring the line between what is supposed to be Good and what represents Evil. This is why The Last of Us 2 is an exceptional sequel: by assuming his choices, even if it means not pleasing everyone. That being said, even if you do not subscribe to Naughty Dog's vision in the story, it will however be difficult to deny the intrinsic qualities of the pure video game product as such.

With its new face, Okami HD has never been so close to perfection, deserving its legendary status thanks to its beautiful visuals and its amazing soundtrack. Coming back from the dead, Cover Studio's title remains thrilling, offering a good opportunity to discover Amaterasu's adventures on PS3, especially for players that never had the chance to buy it the first time.

With Monster Hunter World, the franchise from Capcom reaches a new level. The fights are more dynamic than ever but the difficulty of hunting a monster is still present. The environments are amazing and contain plenty of little details that will maintain the interest of the players. A few improvements would turn Monster Hunter World into the perfect game, but Capcom gets its first major hit of 2018 with this one.

It's simple: everything in Guild Wars 2 as a MMORPG title is attractive, starting with its free-to-play status. But Guild Wars 2 also proposes something new in the MMORPG world with its dynamic quests system, and its really ambitious fighting sequences that will surely please many players looking for a big and dangerous fantasy universe, holding many secrets to uncover.

As powerful as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Sekiro demonstrates once again all OF FromSoftware's talent. With an unparalleled artistic direction and an ingenious fighting system, it is clearly one of the best games of the moment.

With Tekken 8, Bandai Namco has found the right formula to bring together VS Fighting noobs and experts under the same gameplay. Easier to access than Street Fighter, King of Fighters and even Mortal Kombat, Tekken 8 is also there to make the show visual for spectators. We had fun, even if the Story mode is very kitsch, the Tekken Ball mode is useless and we would have liked something other than Mii avatars.

As the years go on, NBA 2K remains the best basket-ball game in the video game industry. With its partnership with Jay-Z as an executive producer, NBA 2K13 is able to offer a lot of new gameplay features and new intuitive game controls that make us think we are facing a different game, compared to previous episodes.

Astro Bot is really the PlayStation VR's killer app, and defines what VR can do, a bit like what Mario 64 did for the 3D. We would only have like this jewel to last a bit more as the playthrough is quite short overall.

There's no better way to keep you busy till the release of Zelda Wii U at the end of the year than The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D. It's perfect from a technical point of view and time seems to have had no impact on this masterpiece.

Once you are fully immersed into the world of Rez Infinite, you immediately realize the power of VR. Unfortunately, this thrilling experience is too short and the tall price of the game - which is a remaster - could represent an obstacle for some players.

By mixing a card game and rogue-like mechanics, Meg Crit Games made Slay The Spires a very addictive game in which only the graphics are a let-down.

Titanfall 2 improves the breed mainly by adding a true solo campaign mode which was really lacking in the first game. The multiplayer doesn't evolve much, but overall the game offers strong content for gamers.

Pokémon Pokopia is a bold spin-off that flips the usual Pokémon formula on its head. No battles, no duels, just a world to rebuild, habitats to create, and Pokémon to hang out with. The game really shines in its creative freedom: you can terraform, build, decorate, and even use Pokémon abilities to shape the world however you like. It’s cozy, easy-going, and instantly fun, especially if you’re creative or younger, and the first few hours are a real blast. The downside? It gets repetitive pretty quickly. The same mechanics repeat from island to island, quests and habitats feel predictable, and there’s not much challenge to keep things exciting. On paper, it’s a refreshing change of pace, but the slow rhythm and repeated tasks can bore players who like a bit more action or progression. For us, the first 10-12 hours were fun, but after that, the next 15 hours started to feel a bit samey.

Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 would have been better if it had been released on a console other than the Switch. Yes, it should have certainly offered a little less game mechanics in order to become more accessible. Yes, a less overloaded interface would have allowed it to gain in readability. Despite this, it remains the best J-RPG of this summer and a game that should not be missed.

By adapting Super Mario 3D World on Nintendo Switch and adding an unprecedented adventure to it, Nintendo is playing finely and scores points. Indeed, fans who have already played the original game on Wii U and those who missed it at the time have a good reason to get Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. This iteration perfectly complements Super Mario 3D World, don't miss it.

Don't be fooled. Unveiled as a retro game, FEZ is a breath of fresh air. Inspired by a lot of 80s games, FEZ is both a platform and puzzle-game that will enchant the players, thanks to its beautiful design, its ingenious riddles, and the perfect use of 2D and 3D graphics. Despite some frame-rate issues, surely FEZ is a game that you need to add to your digital game library.

The restoration work for this Dead Space Remake is undeniable and high quality. The EA Motive teams have done a very good job in terms of visual rendering, with a complete overhaul of the 3D models and richer and more detailed environments. But if the visual of this Dead Space 2023 is up-to-date, it kept its vestiges of 2008 with a system too focused on escape and remote shooting, the fundamentals of survival-horrors of that time. We obviously won't hold it against it, because it's a remake, but we'll point it out anyway.

Funnier and brilliant, Borderlands 2 is twice as good as the first episode was, something which isn't always the case for sequels. But Gearbox Software manages to improve their IP in many ways, offering one of these titles you could not possibly forget to buy in 2012, and proposing new features that will allow players to blow off some steam for hours.

The fans of Fire Emblem can be reassured, Three Houses lives up to its name, and is undoubtedly one of the most well-rounded épisodes of the IP. The only let down are the ugly graphics due to the Switch's technical limitations.

You could say Death Stranding 2 is to the first game what Metal Gear Solid 4 was to MGS3: a louder, flashier sequel that tries to impress, but ends up being less moving, less inspired, and less on point. It feels like Hideo Kojima gave in to the urge for self-references, fan service, and over-the-top moments—at the cost of narrative coherence and depth.And that’s really the biggest letdown: it’s not just that the game has flaws, it’s that it gives up on being unique. In the end, Death Stranding 2 isn’t a bad game by any means (it’s actually super solid on a technical and artistic level) but it still feels kind of flat, occasionally lazy, and almost pointless. It loses part of what made the original so special: that weird, uncompromising experience that didn’t look or feel like anything else out there.Where the first one was bold enough to throw you off balance, this one plays it safe. What used to feel like a total gaming oddity now feels like a hybrid product, stuck between big creative ideas and the need to please a wider audience. Kojima probably wanted to take us on another journey, but by refusing to really go somewhere new, it mostly just feels like we’re going in circles.

With Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom isn’t trying to tear everything down and start from scratch. This isn’t a radical reinvention, but rather a highly self-aware synthesis of everything the series has experimented with over the past thirty years. It’s an anniversary entry that clearly looks back, embraces its fan service, yet still tries to move forward. In short, it feels like a best-of, but a thoughtful one, not a lazy collage. For years, the series has swung between two extremes: pure, suffocating horror and explosive, over-the-top action. Here, instead of awkwardly blending both into a single gameplay style, the game makes a much smarter choice: it separates these two energies into two complementary characters. On one side, Grace Ashcroft embodies vulnerability, fear, and constant tension. On the other, Leon S. Kennedy represents control, power, and that charismatic, unstoppable force pushing forward without hesitation. On paper, this could have created imbalance,even a rupture in the game’s rhythm. But in practice? It works surprisingly well.

At a time where FPS, RPG and action games appear on the market everyday, the return of XCOM is welcomed with a great satisfaction. If purists will be sad to find some of the original features gone, the newcomers will be pleased with XCOM : Enemy Unknown and its strategic and pleasant gaming experience that teaches a lesson to traditional and boring war games.

With Dreams, Media Molecule proves again that it's a special studio that can make small revolutions with each of its games. Mixing gaming with games development, Dreams opens a new field in gaming.

Dragon Age Inquisition is a solid RPG that should conquer any gamer's heart with its well-rounded gameplay. Definitely a big improvement over the last game in the IP.

Distressing, frightening, sometimes disturbing, Alan Wake 2 makes a resounding return thirteen years after the first episode that we have not forgotten. Remedy is not content with making a simple and basic sequel, but is readjusting its game by renewing the gameplay. By introducing a second character, the developers introduce a successful "investigation" aspect which reinforces the narrative of these satanic murders. The fights have become fiercer and more intense too and the story even more captivating. Cherry on the cake : the game offers sumptuous graphics, with ultra-realistic facial expressions. One of the best games of 2023.

Known for the Killzone IP, Guerrilla Games has created a masterpiece in Horizon: Zero Dawn with its unique universe, its massive and rich open-world and its gorgeous graphics.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition isn't groundbreaking, but it's a nice touch for the fans as vergil's new gameplay is quite enjoyable. We would have liked a bit more TLC on 9th gen consoles tho, but at least the loading times are gone and we got ray tracing, even if that takes a hard toll on framerate.

Remake or remaster? Since its announcement last June, the name for the redesign of The Last of Part 1 has been debated among players and even internally between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog. At Jeuxactu, we defend the fact that it is indeed a remake, certainly not as complete as some titles can be that are reworked 20/30 years later, but there are enough visual changes to use the correct term. Too bad that Sony Interactive Entertainment (finally Jim Ryan especially) makes players pay a high price. Because hey, 80€, it's just abused.

Seven years after the global phenomenon that was Monster Hunter World in 2018, Capcom finally delivers its sequel, not in its numbering that's for sure, but the spirit, it's definitely there! It's simple, Monster Hunter Wilds takes all the ingredients of the winning formula of its illustrious predecessor, while making it evolve in the right direction. The story and narration now take a more important part, with just the right amount of endearing characters, intrigue and outcome to let us be transported into this campaign that ends in about twenty hours of play. Then, Capcom gives players free rein to do what they want through an even more consistent and interesting endgame, since it knows how to renew the experience and extend the lifespan almost infinitely, especially with the DLC and other expansions to come. Between the appearance of other monsters, the climate changes that are taking place, the end of the decline and the arrival of abundance, the game then offers itself a second youth.

Tetris Effect is back again, and it brings all the multiplayer modes along, which is a great add to the content. Sure it lacks coms between players, and you sometimes end up playing versus a bot, but overall, it's a great game, specially if you missed the original release two years ago.

We don't know yet if Mario Kart 8 will help Nintendo to sell millions of Wii U's, but it's the game you must absolutely have on this console. Everything's in it: good rhythm, more than precise gameplay, crazy items, some well thought new tracks and a very solid online mode. If Mario Kart 8 is not really the best installment in the series, it's only because there is a lack of gamble in its gameplay.

By giving us the keys to its game design office, Nintendo has achieved yet another great game with Super Mario Maker. Being able to create your own stages is great, while beating the ones made by other people can prove quite frustrating. Still a game to own of you like Nintendo and have an interest in level design.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a very good remaster of the original games, and brings a bit of new content, better graphics, and the awesome gameplay that's been loved for years. Pepper the lot with online multiplayer, and you've got one of the best arcade games of the year.

NieR Automata is not only an excellent Beat'em all, it also has a great story with a huge background that will keep the player hooked. Add an exemplary level design and a huge area to explore to the mix and you'll get one of the best games of this year.

This PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is the exact replica of what came out a year ago on Xbox One. The title still looks and feels good, with as a bonus all the DLC available since launch. A must-play for every Lara Croft Fan.

It Takes Two is a true couple therapy in which the two players (mandatory coop) will have to work together to overcome a large variety of challenges and activities. The overall feel of the game is very refreshing, but some minor flaws are still there (like poorly balanced minigames).

Despite a disappointing ending, Left behind is a much needed DLC, be it only to know how Ellie was able to protect herself from the outside, after being a naïve girl. This behavior evolution is magnified by winter episodes that remind the player that The Last of Us's gameplay has not aged a bit. The multifaction combat is not revolutionary, but it does bring a fresh look at the combat system, and allows to save your ammo. Top end direction, excellent OST what are we upset about Left Behind? Reading the American Dreams comic offers a very different flavor, and the crappy ending really ruins the lot.

Taking the best elements that made the two previous titles so successful, correcting some of their mistakes too, Far Cry 3 is clearly the blockbuster we were waiting for. Visually and artistically, the open-world is simply amazing. The different missions the main campaign consists of are all interesting as well, and the co-op aspects that are well-introduced. The multiplayer mode will entertain players for hours thanks to ingenious gameplay ideas.

As we expected, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is a true next-gen experience, harnessing the many capabilities of the PlayStation 5 with flying colors. Supported by a wonderful artistic direction, we have here a really impressive technical showcase, proving once again that the DualSense has potential that can change a lot of things.

Visual Concepts has done it again with an awesome NBA 2K17. If the graphics don't evolve at all, the gameplay get richer alongside a vastly improved IA. The basketball game to go for without a doubt.

XCOM 2 is a worthy heir to the franchise with a few improvements to renew the gameplay, and a refreshing script which makes us join the resistance against alien invaders. A worthy investment indeed.

If Dishonored 2 doesn't offer the same surprise as the first opus, it is without a doubt one of the best action/stealth games money can buy, with huge replayability thanks to the multiple heroes and endings.
