The key to enjoying Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is to think of it not as an open-ended sandbox, there for you to discover all kinds of secrets, but as an intricate diorama, just waiting for you to set things into motion. You may not get the same kind of satisfaction of figuring out inventive ways to solve problems, but you will get to look at a game that’s simply beautiful – and all things considered, it’s a fair trade.

If the inexplicably maze-like levels weren't irksome enough, the fact that you will spend quite a bit of time negotiating them looking for save points will really strain your tolerance. Turok 2 is Quake with gorgeous graphics, poorly-planned (but attractive!) levels, and gimmicks out the wazoo.

Worms Revolution may not be a single player game, it may not be the best looking downloadable game on Xbox 360 or PS3, But the downright fun that can be had playing multiplayer more than makes up for any short comings in those departments. Obviously, if you’re okay with WarioWare-style minigames, then that may be a bonus for you. And if I could ignore my dislike of them, then there’s plenty about Card Shark to make it worth recommending – and even with those minigames, I’d still say it’s better than average. But unless you’re really fond of wiggling your thumbsticks around every few minutes, you may find the whole experience to not be as good as it could have been.

Combat has seen some minor improvements, but the missions you're required to play and the side-quest stuff in the city are still pretty bland encounters for the most part, and it's those areas that really need to see the most improvement for the next Spider-Man installment down the line.

The problem with that, of course, is that Amnesia: Memories isn't aiming to be a CYOA mystery, it's trying to be a dating simulator. And call me an old-fashioned romantic, but I'd expect one of those to include people who might be worth dating, not just guys who can't stop calling you stupid. Without those, the whole concept never quite clicks — though if you play your cards right, you may at least get to do some fun gumshoeing before it all ends.

If you’re like me and just enjoy having games on the Switch over a different platform, then this is the best version of Resident Evil Revelations part 1 and 2 to have. Revelations 1 is broken up into chapters like a good portable game, and Revelations 2 is similar with its episodic structure that games from 2015 loved to release. Both are a great fit for this device. What I’m really looking forward to is more support from Capcom on the Switch, and hopefully this is a sign of future ports and original games to come.

To be sure, you could critique Biomotor Unitron for not straying too far from its inspiration – and even if it borrows from Pokémon, it never comes close to matching it. But just as the ‘90s had room for second-tier competitors like Digimon, there’s no reason why Biomotor Unitron can’t exist as a fun curio today. It won’t make anyone forget Pokémon or wonder why Biomotor Unitron didn’t find more of a fanbase, but it’s fun enough that you’ll be able to enjoy it anyway.

It is also nice to have a legal way to own Cyberbots and marvel at the eccentricity that is Red Earth. While I have issues with the title curation, this is nonetheless a solid lineup. One can only hope that the licensing gods will grant us a Capcom Licensed Fighting Game Collection which will include their Marvel catalog, their JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders fighting game, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and dare I say…Rival Schools. Shakedown: Hawaii is a more robust title when compared to Retro City Rampage. However for all the features that it packs in, it doesn’t really do much with them. Things like blowing up deliver trucks, delivering coffee, and burglaries are introduced during the story mode, but once introduced these activities can be ignored with no detriment to your playthrough. The game does have a cover mechanic, but just like those extracurricular activities mentioned, ignoring it will not hinder your progress. Whether intentionally or not, Wizards of Brandel isn’t afraid to show it has a sense of humour, and it makes the rest of the game seem a lot more palatable, even enjoyable. Admittedly, if you don’t find that hilarious, then you’ll just find Wizards of Brandel to be yet another in a long line of unremarkable, indistinguishable JRPGs. And, what’s more, if you hate microtransactions, then you may even find this game intolerable. I wouldn’t say I love the new games as much as I did the originals, and I definitely would’ve enjoyed this game more if it felt a little more focused on action and less on dialogue and characters, but God of War Ragnarök is, at the end of the day, a pretty good continuation of Kratos’ saga (and one that runs very well on PC).

More likely, though, Mini Motorways is simply an attempt to apply the Mini Metro formula to roads instead of subways. While it hits some of the same notes – and it would undoubtedly be much easier to embrace if it didn’t have such an insanely great predecessor to live up to – it’s simply not quite as good. Hidden Through Time is pretty cute. It’s got an art style that comes off as a cross between Scribblenauts and The Oatmeal, and as someone who likes both of those things, that appeals to me. Every time I finished a level, some part of me half-expected to hear that little Scribblenauts tune that played whenever you found a shard, which should give you an idea of just how close the resemblance is. But intuitive controls and fun design don’t make for a great game — that would require the game itself to be fun, and honestly, Hidden Through Time just didn’t do it for me. If you’re a diehard hidden object fan who really wants a challenge, it might be worth your time, but if you’re looking for something you can play with your kids, I have a hard time imagining it would pass muster.

Wingspan on the Switch is probably great if you’ve played it before — or, at least, if you can use any of the many handy guides you can find online as a how-to guide — but if you’re a newcomer looking for a fun board game to pick up and play, this one may not be it.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Road 96 when it was released last year on Switch and PC, then I think the PlayStation and Xbox releases are certainly worth a look. It’s not a time consuming or challenging experience, but it’s an entertaining adventure game with a neat gameplay hook that will likely keep you interested until the end.

Despite the intense, all-too-realistic blood, guts and gore, I had a blast playing it. I just hope that doesn't make me a sociopath.

EndWar may not be the best RTS on the market, but it certainly breathes new life into the genre on consoles.

Does this make for a faithful representation of John Wick? As I said, I have no idea. I’d feel much more confident in saying it’s not the best Mike Bithell game possible, but I imagine that’s a much less meaningful statement for most people, judging by box office totals compared to the broader cultural impact of Thomas Was Alone. As such, I’ll split the difference, and say that John Wick Hex is a solid strategic action game that’s great if you’re in the mood for skulking around in stylish shadows and killing lots and lots of bad guys.

Are cool ragdolling and easy-to-use controls enough to set Pumped BMX + apart from all those other clones? Not really, no. But the whole thing is still well-made enough that even if it's no substitute for the real thing, it can at least do in a pinch if you need a little more Trials in your life, and don't feel like waiting any longer for the next one.

If you're not a fan of hidden object games, then I can't imagine that plot-driven hidden object puzzles are going to be what suddenly wins you over. If, however, the words "plot-driven hidden object puzzles" sends a shiver of anticipation up and down your spine, then yes, you'll want to download this yesterday.

While I doubt that anyone will be classifying Mass Effect Andromeda as their favorite entry in the series, I’ve still enjoyed what I’ve played for the most part. Ideally, patches can iron out some of the rough spots, but if you’re planning on getting this day one, well, you’re bound to encounter an issue or two based on my week or so with the game. But if you’re willing to overcome some technical problems, and get past the somewhat boring opening hours of the game, I think you’ll get some enjoyment out of this return to the Mass Effect universe.

If you’re a fan of either the anime or manga then you owe it to yourself to pick this up. And even if you’re not a Naruto super fan, I think you’ll be surprised by how much fun this game has to offer.

It’s pleasant to see the game get more colourful as you go along, and the skins are undeniably cute. Don’t go into Monochrome World expecting something to reinvent the wheel — or, I guess, the marble — and you should enjoy it just fine.
