Nintendo Switch Sports is not a series revolution, although there is a special, partly Rocket-League-like new football mode. But the game does not need to be a revolution. It is just an entertaining sports and party game, with a lovely presentation that's a pleasure to play, even alone, but especially together with friends.

eFootball 2022 does show some signs of a great soccer-game after update 1.0.0. However the game remains very rough around the edges – not only on the pitch, but also when it comes to presentation.

Even with new tutorials MotoGP 22 does not really manage to reduce the hurdle for newcomers. But if you are content to keep trying, the gaming fun will constantly increase. The amount of content and game moves is great, but not just because of that, MotoGP remains the best two-wheeler racing simulation you can get.

Road 96’s narrative may not reach the heights of the best the modern adventure genre has to offer, but it cleverly distracts with a cast of intriguing characters and the promise of procedurally generated road-trips. The novel concept doesn’t always work, but when it does, it offers a very personal and gripping journey through a country on the verge of dictatorship.

In virtual reality, the diorama concept works amazingly well - and one wonders why this perspective isn't used in many more VR games.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is nothing less than one of the best Lego games so far. The game remains all the series' strengths concerning style, lovingly presentation and family-friendly slapstick humor and makes well use of the prestigious license with a great mixture somewhere between tribute and parody.

Two Point Hospital Speedy Recovery is the seventh expansion to the crazy hospital simulator. Its fast, funny but also a bit stressful. The animation of the cars and new diseases are fun to watch, and for fans its a nice extension of the game.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a creative and diverse 3D platformer with an adorable hero and a beautiful audiovisual presentation that suits any age group. But Kirby's new adventure does not only maintain the typical strengths of the series and transforms them successfully into the third dimension. It also retains the low degree of difficulty, what makes it more accessible, but demands too little from advanced players.

Despite the fantasy setting including a stylish table-top overworld, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a typical Borderlands game at its core. That's not a bad thing, if you like the mostly similar look and feel, the typical series' humor or the sweeping loot shooter mechanics, where you get much more scrap than cool stuff. In other words: If you like Borderlands, you'll have fun in Wonderlands. If not, this game has little chance to change your attitude.

Shredders may not be the most graphically impressive game, but the small developer studio FoamPunch manages to do what they set out to accomplish. Shredders is a worthy successor to titles like Amped and brings the accessible but deep controls of Skate to the snowboarding genre while focusing on what’s most important to the sport. The freedom and joy of finding your own path down a mountain through deep snow.

Ghostwire: Tokyo turns out to be a huge disappointment. Despite its fascinating setting and its interesting plot, the open-world-gameplay turns out to be boring and monotone. The overall game lacks variety and depth.

What a comeback! WWE22 makes its big return and delivers a fun, good-looking and playable wrestling-experience. While the game is far from perfect, its mechanics and overall options are well designed to keep fans motivated. WWE2K22 is definitely worth a buy.

Not at all what you would expect from a "Final Fantasy", but with action packed gameplay, buttery smooth battle choreography, RPG elements that are as sophisticated as they are challenging, and high replay value. However, those who want to be rewarded will have to live with a certain learning curve and unconvincing characters.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is a cute story-side-scroller with great music, a fantastic storyline and lovely art-style. Voicelines are only available in Japanese, but you will have English subtitles to enjoy the storyline. Its a great game for kids, but also for adults and a real feel-good-comfort-zone to escape this cruel world for a bit.

Chocobo GP is a charming racing game, but with a huge problem called Mario Kart 8. The Square Enix clone is far away from being a bad game and with its relation to the Final Fantasy universe probably more appealing for some gamers than Nintendo's genre top dog. But there is no other aspect, Chocobo GP is better or even close to its paragon. So the truth is, you need to be heavily bored of Mario Kart, being able to consider Chocobo GP as a strongly useful alternative.

Triangle Strategy delivers a great tactical combat system that's as complex in a pleasant way as it is fun. The twisty, decision based storyline is interesting and makes the game feel more immersive. But on the other hand, it could have been more summarized, because the amount of time you'll spend on story sequences (if you don't skip it) is just too high related to the the time you'll spent on the battlefields.

Gran Turismo 7 is a great driving-simulator that offers much more variety and content than previous outings of the series. With its gorgeous looking graphics, tons of options and enhanced online-options, it offers tons of replayability. It, however, isn’t perfect: In-game-transactions, overall presentation and bad AI mar the overall experience.

The combat system is weak and some parts of the graphics seem heavily outdated. But Elex II is much more than the sum of its parts. It is a highly atmospheric and intense role-playing game with marvelous quest design, a worthwhile open world with an ultimate vision of freedom for story-driven games whose overall experience will make you forget most of its weak points.

GRID Legends tries to speed ahead of the pack by including a story mode around a failing racing team portrayed by live-action actors. Despite superficial novelty, the game fails to really connect the events of the story to actual gameplay and leaves the player character out almost completely. Thanks to excellent and nuanced driving mechanics and an impressive amount of courses and vehicles, this can still be worth checking out for die-hard racing fans, even if it cannot quite live up to the best the genre has to offer.

Atelier Sophie 2 picks up lovers of the genre and combines classic gameplay with a dynamic combat system that is very good for the game series. German subtitles should slowly become a must for the series in order to be really popular in German-speaking countries.

Elden Ring is more than a mixture of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Its huge game world invites you to explore, and there is much more optional than mandatory content. There are some minor balance issues, but they blench out considering all the strengths. In total, Elden Ring does not quite reach its predecessors on the eye level, but the game is still a need to play for any action rpg fan.

Build on the rocky foundation of Dynasty Warriors 9, Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires is inherently flawed, both when it comes to its technical aspects as well as its gameplay variety. With only siege battles throughout the entire campaign, you’d think that the streamlined combat and barebones graphics would be enough to break the game’s back but they didn’t. Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires manages to cleverly link battles, relationships with other officers and empire-management together into an addictive gameplay loop that works despite all its glaring flaws. The game can be a lot of fun, even if pleasure is as guilty as it's always been with the series.

Unfortunately, KoF XV is not the big revolution it could have been. The title feels more like a slightly polished version of its predecessor, albeit with somewhat less content and scope. A no-brainer for fans of the series (especially because of the rollback netcode). But those who are not enthusiasts of the franchise will probably be happier with another current representative of the genre.

It guarantees a strategy adventure with dozens of hours of exciting gameplay that brings some interesting new additions to the table: The hunt for the four demon souls. Horizon Forbidden West simply surpasses its predecessor in every aspect. The well-directed story is as motivating as the complex systems for skills, weapons, and other equipment. The thrilling (boss) fights provide a great mixture of action and tactics. And if you take a deeper look at the graphics you'll feel the slobber running down your chin – even on PS4.

SIFU is very realistic beat-’em-up-game from Sloclap, the dev’s from the action RPG Absolver, which already included different martial-art fights. They worked together with Kong Fu Master Benjamin Colussi to make the fights in SIFU as realistic as possible. The skill level required to beat this game is very high and you need to be patient and consistent to progress. Epic finisher moves, great story, nice music, but not a game for casual gamers.

A whole 7 years after the predecessor “OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood” this minimalist skateboard series rises from the grave prettier than ever. With a new comic-style look and a smoother learning curve this sequel aims to conquer the heart of fans and newcomers alike. Thanks to brilliant level design, a single stage can go from a light breeze to punishingly difficult, simply depending which of the goals you choose to pursue. “Olli Olli World” will always push you do be just a little better, be it with a new rival on the leaderboard or the challenge to bop three treefrogs off their giant bees. One of the few downsides being that the otherwise addictive game flow is too often held up with skipping through lore and story dialogue before each mission.

Dying Light 2 might not be the ultimate high-rider that early impressions promised. But more important than that, Techland delivers a sequel that's far better in mostly any aspect. It's technically strong on next-gen, provides a great fluid free running system, a powerful combat system, and combines it with a highly varied and vast open world. Even the story with all its world-changing decisions outperforms the predecessor clearly.

Better graphics, great 3D sound, nice Dual Sense optimizations and noticeably improved loading times - the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is currently the technically best way to again enjoy "Uncharted 4" and "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy". It’s just a shame that the multiplayer complex wasn’t remastered too, that the developers did not add any new content extras and that the upgrade concept does not work out for everyone.
