If you wanted to know how the future of the Pokémon series could look, play and feel, you will find the answer in Pokémon Legends Arceus. It is a modern 3D action RPG with open and free deployment areas, immersive real-time catching, active stealth mechanic and seamless gameplay even between exploring and combat. Arceus feels fresh and great in nearly any aspect. And don't be afraid as a fan: Game Freak simultaneously succeeds in brilliantly retaining the core elements of Pokémon games.

Let’s Sing 2022 is a fun karaoke game you should definitely play with microphones if possible. Entertaining games modes and a good song mixture will get the party started.

Dysmantle won’t surprise anyone with flashy gameplay or new and exciting ideas, instead it iterates on a long legacy of crafting and survival games and finds ways to improve almost all core aspects of that popular genre. Despite combat often being in the way of enjoying the exploration and the puzzle-like exploration of the various nooks and crannies, the game can entertain for many hours thanks to its sprawling map and exciting secrets. Especially at its low price and with the option for local multiplayer, this game is one of the first highlights of 2022.

Overall Rainbow Six: Extraction is a good co-op action game and maybe currently one of the best tactical PvE shooters you can play. It's a little bit too hard on higher levels, the progression fairly grindy, especially if you play it on lower difficulty. But that doesn't ruin the fun you'll have with your friends playing together, trouble-free across all platforms, if you want.

After The Fall is definitely a very entertaining VR game: with cracking action, great co-op and a terrific technical implementation. Whether it can motivate in the long term will depend on whether future updates can provide enough variety.

Dairoku is a good otome game, though not necessarily a great one. The love interests are interesting and have fascinating characters, but the main storyline doesn’t quite catch up to them in terms of quality. The character graphics are very beautiful, yet the backgrounds are too simple. The music is fitting, not standout. Knowing this, if you love the Japanese ayakashi setting you should still try this game. The individual storylines of the bachelors make it worthwhile.

A promising entry to the long-lasting legacy of Dungeon Keeper that lacks in both variety and depth long-term. While the theme is fun and offers the occasional genuine chuckle between a lot of chliché-ridden humor a lot of the gameplay goes from fun to tedious in the later stages of the game. This game will have you hooked for a couple hours, but it’ll struggle to have you coming back for more once you’ve seen it all.

Halo Infinite delivers stunning firefights and a great shooter-mechanic. Yet, the single-player experience suffers from the lifeless and uninspired open-world.

Short game fun for the puzzle in between, which is fun in the family, but lacks long-term motivation and new ideas.

Chorus may just be the surprise hit of 2021 for anyone who loves space combat and a surprisingly deep and interesting sci-fi story with cosmic horror elements. Thanks to slick movement and a variety of fun powers, combat never gets old and remains challenging through the surprisingly long and varied campaign. This already great package is rounded off with great visuals and sound design as well as a solid technical performance throughout the game. The fast-paced combat may scare some less experienced players off, but for anyone who enjoys blowing up enemy ships at break-neck speeds, this is a very easy recommendation.

At its core, Farming Simulator 22 remains mostly the same. But, if you want, production chains and seasons expand depth and complexity. But the main reason, why this game is the best part of the series so far, is the technical progression that makes it proverbially from an ugly duckling to pleasant swan.

Players of the DS original might mostly experience the same game. But including some new cool features, its well modernized graphics and raised accessibility, this Pokémon RPG will be a joy to play as well for fans as for gamers of every age, who can get out just a little of the franchise.

Expectations for Battlefield 2042 were high, very high. Unfortunately, the game has not yet been able to fully satisfy them at the start. Problems range from balancing issues in Hazard Zone mode to the lack of standard features such as an in-game voice chat. Any yet: In hardly any other DICE shooter have we experienced such entertaining, exciting and completely crazy multiplayer matches. In order to survive within the contested multiplayer market, DICE now has to optimize the fundamentally strong pillars of Battlefield 2042 step by step.

It wasn’t easy following the extraordinarily ambitious The Sinking City, yet Sherlock Holmes Chapter One takes some of the best ideas of its predecessor and builds on them, combining it with Frogware’s experience with the Sherlock Holmes universe. The result is a game that can feel very rigid and linear at times but excels in the deep and emotional exploration of Sherlock Holmes as a character. The game is full of interesting and memorable cases, even if player decisions and agency barely matter. This game lives in the legacy of old adventure games like the Broken Sword series and if understood as such, this is a wonderful modern adventure game.

Vanguard builds on the three pillars that fans of Call of Duty have come to expect. The problem: While the multiplayer mode plays great, the campaign is visually and acoustically well staged, but overall it's only "very solid" due to the weak AI and a far too predictable and short story. The zombie mode, on the other hand, is more beginner-friendly than ever, but the bottom line is that it disappoints, especially long-time fans, with an abundance of missing features. Provided that upcoming content updates improve the situation, there is still hope that the developers will make zombie hunters happy in the long run.

Forza Horizon 5 still offers great open world racing fun, looks great and establishes a dimension of freedom in progress that is unique for the genre. But at its core, the game delivers the same mechanics, the same kind of events, just a little bit differently. These wear marks don't make Forza Horizon 5 a bad game, but they make it less appealing.

Iron Harvest is one of the few RTS games on console and it seemingly knows that players won’t have many alternatives when it comes to the strategy itch. This game has an intriguing setting in Jakub RóżalskiIron’s 1920+ fictional universe, but its technical aspects are minimal and unrefined. Despite looking like at least two console generations too late, it’s prone to frame-rate drops and at times even crashes. Those willing to look past the rough exterior find campaign that is definitely worth playing and tells a compelling story, as well as a competitive multiplayer that suffers from poor balancing and extreme snowballing. Iron Harvest is not an easy game to love, yet I can understand anyone who does nonetheless.

Age of Empires IV does have it’s rough edges, especially regarding specific control and comfort options. Map editor and mod support are also still missing. But apart from that it’s already a very entertaining package with eight very different factions, nice mission design ideas, thrilling multiplayer and great insights for history enthusiasts.

With its very classic approach including five streamlined game boards from the N64 era and healthy collection of 100 mini-games Mario Party Superstarts is an enjoyment especially for veterans of the series. As always, the best way to play the game is with others on the couch or online. But because of the a little better balanced AI solo players can have some more fun as in the predecessor Super Mario Party.

With its exciting story and characters, the next-gen worthy visuals and especially the great sense of humor we can warmly recommend Eidos Montreal's Guardians of the Galaxy not just for fans of the franchise. Just the fights are a little bit too chaotic for getting a strong feeling of control on the battlefields in sum.

Anyone who loved "Left 4 Dead" and can accept that special zombies in co-op mode are not controlled by other online players will have a lot of fun with "Back 4 Blood". Difficulty spikes, the lack of a split-screen mode and problems with the bot AI do however lower our overall impression.

Metroid Dread is a dignified sequel to a sacred games series. The almost invincible E.M.M.I. can be annoying, but other than that, you get a fully-fleshed metroidvania that combines new mechanics with traditional Metroid gameplay in the best sense.

Far Cry 6 is going to be somewhat divisive. Those that enjoy the series for its sandbox and the ability to wreak havoc with a large assortment of weapons and vehicles may find this to be the best the series has ever been. Those, like me, who enjoyed the antagonists, and the more scripted main missions may be disappointed to see the new villain, played by the brilliant Giancarlo Espacito, almost completely wasted. He barely makes a presence and when he does, the series is too comfortable treading the same ground as past titles. Nonetheless, this is an excellent Open-World shooter that trades any surprises it may have for very solid, streamlined Ubisoft gameplay.

Of course Alan Wake Remastered does not outbid the visuals of the current gen references, but Remedy does a great job bringing the graphics into the year 2021. Everything looks much better, sharper and more detailed, without distorting the special and intense atmosphere of the 360 original. Beside that, Alan Wake remains a great mixture of horror story and action with tactical light use and a huge dose of kaboom. If you don't know Alan Wake yet, you need to play the Remastered right now. If you are a fan of the original, the remastered version is a great opportunity to revisit Bright Falls.
