The upgraded alchemy system is the best fun part of Atelier Sophie 2. This game has innovated the classic turn-based combat mode in a unique way, and the improved encounter mode also makes me delighted. However, the story line is unremarkable, some items in the main story line are quite difficult to fabricate, some materials required for devising formulas are difficult to locate, and there are unreasonable aspects in the two-person alchemy system. All these issues will seriously undermine your experience in the game and preclude the game from being outstanding.

The Callisto Protocol is a very delicate Dead Space-like game: excellent horror atmosphere, outstanding graphics, and a fairly good combat experience, but the actual content is difficult to meet the high expectations of players. Forgotton Anne is good at telling a story, and creating a new world filled with magical things. The hand-painted art style and the background music are remarkable, and the puzzle part has some strengths too. However, the handling feel of this game is not satisfactory enough, which kind of reminds me the original version of Prince of Persia.

Minecraft: Dungeons is simple and has a fairly rich gameplay that allows players to experience the fun of collecting, building and fighting. Each Piglin stronghold in the game is well designed, and you need to organise your strategy carefully to win, which can provide a sense of achievement when you conquer them. Unfortunately, there is a lack of depth in the unit and technology design, and attacking fortresses can be frustrating. In addition, despite its open-world design concept, the actual content is somewhat empty, and the defence phase during each nightly Piglin attack can also be quite exhausting.

It's clear that Atelier Umia is trying to modernize the series, but when you start down the wrong path, every step forward only leads you further astray. An overly simplified alchemy system and a formulaic open world strip away the series' most essential charm, leaving behind a beautifully crafted shell that ultimately feels hollow. No matter how polished the presentation, it's hard to truly love a game that has lost its heart.

After its remastered release, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse has undoubtedly given players more reasons to try this classic horror game. Exquisite and beautiful characters, an intriguing plot, and innovative storytelling make this work seem quite excellent in quality. However, as a game released 15 years ago, many of its mechanics have not been optimised and have been faithfully copied to the PC. Nowadays, some of the systems are outdated and significantly affect the player's experience.

Although the current Company of Heroes 3 is not perfect, and the designers at Relic Entertainment have had some bad ideas, the fact that this game has made it to the third title, to be honest, is enough for us old fans of the game to cheer and get excited about.

Although it doesn't stand out compared with other zombie games, Zombie Army 4: Dead War has its unique skill tree, weapon upgrade system, and combo system, which make the game fun enough to play.

Youngblood is a solid shooter just like its prequels but features co-op experience this time. Killing Nazis is as satisfying as usual, but the story is too dull to keep me engaged.

Soul Hacker 2 is a traditional JRPG that you can easily spend hours on, but also mediocre in every aspect. Although the classic training system has enough depth, and the turn-based system also involved some minor changes, the interest of the combat system is still limited. A lot of looting content improves the playability of the game, however the looting experience is monotonous and boring.

South of Midnight offers a unique lens into Southern Gothic culture, with strong atmosphere, engaging folklore, and compelling storytelling that successfully highlights the charm of a niche cultural space. However, as a game, even its excellent music and presentation can't fully compensate for the underwhelming gameplay experience.

If you're simply looking for pure shooting and explosions and don't mind the game's relatively small scale, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando can still be a decent option. Its large scale set pieces are something you rarely see elsewhere, and the satisfying gunplay makes blasting through hordes of zombies genuinely enjoyable. Beyond that, however, Toxic Commando mostly shows its flaws. Both its level design and core gameplay feel monotonous, dated, and lacking in excitement.

Playing Shadow Gambit feels like peeling an onion - as I progress from the outer layers to the core, taking down enemies in the city, and each achievement is small, often mixed with discomfort and bitterness.

Black Future '88 is a challenging platformer that features a huge variety of weapons, characters, and skills. But the gameplay is too repetitive and it gets tedious very quickly.
