When you're the proud owner of a next-gen console, the last thing on your mind is to play 2D shooting games. At least, that's what you think. Make an exception for Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Because of the simple fact that this will be the most frantic and over the top action you will ever see in a 2D game. Give it a go!- Gamer.nl

How can you not be overwhelmed by Civilization V? It's a perfect example of a series that's getting close to perfection, step by step. The new improvements are great and feel like they've been there all along. A must-buy for the fans and a great way for newcomers to finally get familiar with the series.- Gamer.nl

Mario has some restrictions in Super Mario 3D Land, which is why the game comes closer to the original platformers that are all about challenge and focused platform levels. It all works out, thanks to the surprise at the end of the game and the wealth of challenges available here.- Gamer.nl

Monster Hunter World is much more accessible than the other Monster Hunter Games. Systems are significantly easier to understand and unnecessary parts have been removed, without making the game feel simple. What is left is a constant thrill.- Gamer.nl

Dota 2 remains fully loyal to its predecessor, which fundamentally started the moba genre, and that’s the best choice. Thanks to the long development process of the first Dota, the second part is now the most well balanced and complete game of all the multiplayer online battle arenas out there. This is mostly noticeable due to the enormous tactical freedom that makes every game different and the subtle elements that make the game so rich and expansive. No competitor even comes close to this amount of depth.- Gamer.nl

Guild Wars 2 does what MMOs have been promising for years: it provides players with a dynamic virtual world filled with discovery, adventure and cooperation. The game combines the unpredictability of hardcore sandbox games like EVE and Asheron's Call with the accessibility and fun of World of Warcraft. After years of EverQuest clones the genre finally makes a great leap forward.- Gamer.nl

Human Revolution might not be as revolutionary as the original was back when it came out, but the main elements of this series is still as exciting and downright unique as it was ten years ago. This is how a game that wants to tell a story should be: interactive and focussed. On top of that, Human Revolution takes place in one of the best virtual worlds ever. Some technical hiccups don't get in the way of this impressive experience.- Gamer.nl

FIFA 13 is the impressive result of years of improvements and tests. The impact-engine really comes into its own and can be felt more properly throughout the rest of the game. Additions like first-touch, dynamic commentary and the skill games provide a fresh take on the already refined and expansive base of FIFA.- Gamer.nl

The new Tekken does not want to reinvent the wheel, but relies entirely on the rock-solid gameplay for which the series is known. That works out well in this case. The new Heat system makes battles even more explosive and intense, and the Special Style control option ensures that even inexperienced players can pull out all the stops. With these sharp additions and the impressive visual splendor, Tekken 8 can win the hearts of veterans and new fans alike.- Gamer.nl

We can talk hours and hours about it, but it won't change the fact that Grand Theft Auto IV is a very good game. The brand new video editor will offer tons and tons of extra gameplay and makes up for a lot of the waiting time the PC-gamers had to endure. Gamers that still aren't satisfied can wait for the hundreds or so mods that will appear after the release. And with that enough gaming material to last at least until Grand Theft Auto V shows up.- Gamer.nl

Shogun 2 is an homage to Shogun: total War. We'll never look back though, knowing that Shogun 2 is simply a better game, thanks to the strongly improved gameplay and a turn-based section that knows even more depth this time around.- Gamer.nl

Are you still here? Go get Empire: Total War if you have just the slightest interest in an RTS game. This game offers everything a RTS fan wants. We know that the game has its share of flaws, but there is so much this game does right, that you can easily look past the frustration. This is what a strategy game should look like.- Gamer.nl

If you have a difficult time saying goodbye to Geralt, Hearts of Stone is the perfect add-on. The story is pretty exciting and the extra items and surroundings blend in well. The monsters offer an extra challenge, but the bosses are often a bit too difficult.- Gamer.nl

Alan Wake 2 keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. If not with survival horror action, then with an abundance of unexpected plot points and gameplay sequences. This sequel is really completely unique in that respect. Not all risks taken pay off, but Alan Wake 2 is an adventure in atmosphere, story and surprise that you really cannot miss.- Gamer.nl

Studio Liverpool delivers a great bang for you buck. When all new circuits, modes en versions of existing ships are taken in account you can do the math: the original games' content has doubled. Minor flaws can cause some annoyance, but are compensated by all the other things Fury delivers. Wipeout HD just got even better.- Gamer.nl

'Shoot me in the face! Shoot me in the face! Come on, shoot me IN THE FACE!', a maniacal guy shouts at us passionately. A neck shot and dead body later, the message appears on screen: congratulations, mission accomplished. It's moments like these that show that Borderlands 2 has found its voice. One filled with uncontrolled anger, sudden mania, crude humor and lots of depth. The planet Pandora will keep anyone in its grip for at least thirty hours with intense shoot-outs, bizarre side-quests and crazy characters.- Gamer.nl

There are really too few game elements in The Walking Dead to justify calling it a game. Its amazing world, great voice actors and the tough decisions it throws at you constantly will have you completely forget about this though. It's a compelling story that grabs you from the opening of the game and doesn't let go until its controversial ending in the last chapter. The intelligent choice-system gives you the feeling that you're creating your own story, which is why you'll lose yourself in the characters in no-time. It never gets really challenging, but for those who enjoy a good story, it's a great enrichment of the Walking Dead-universe.- Gamer.nl

It feels unfair to call Iceborne just downloadable content for Monster Hunter World. This expansion package adds enough new things to potentially keep you busy for hundreds of hours. The new monsters, attacks and the addition of the Clutch Claw ensure that the game still feels fresh.- Gamer.nl

As fans know, you can’t judge Rez just upon its gameplay premises. That would be the same as reducing the Nightwatch by Rembrandt to the type of paint and the material of the canvas. Instead, the game formula is onlya means to convey something that is more than a typical game experience.- Gamer.nl

Despite some new features Fable 2 remains 'just' a sequel, with a lot of the same flaws from the first installment. As a player you'll have to look for a perfect balance between the storyline and exploring the game enviroment. Otherwise the game will probably end with you only seeing the half of it. But, in all, Fable 2 offers a great adventure, on which you can float away over the lush grounds of Albion.- Gamer.nl

The Beatles: Rock Band has become the ultimate Beatles experience. You can feel the passion Harmonix has put into this game by looking at it. It provides a feeling of Beatlemania for everyone who weren’t around when The Fabulous Four were so popular. Despite the more casual approach compared to previous Rock Band titles and the lack of some favourite songs, The Beatles: Rock Band is an example of how music games centered around specific bands should be.- Gamer.nl
