With Pokémon X and Y, GameFreak finally delivers on the big promise: a Pokémon game in which the pocket monsters actually come to life. That the game is also filled to the brim with content, makes X and Y the ultimate Pokémon generation.

The PC version of Burnout Paradise has the word Ultimate in its title for a reason. When developer Criterion made The Ultimate Box, they put every update and patch that appeared since the release on the console into this game. By doing so, they made Burnout Paradise the perfect game for everyone who wants to race without a hassle. If one of your hobbies is to cruise in your car on a regular basis and if you aren't bothered by an undemanding difficulty level and then you will have no problem liking this game.

This game is without a doubt the best soccer game ever. It doesn't only play like a charm, it also looks phenomenal and the number of options is huge. There is so much to do that it will be hard to try everything out before FIFA 2010. The fact that our crew works overtime just to play the game says more than enough. FIFA 09 is everything that your little soccer heart desires.

Sea of Stars is a visually beautiful jrpg with tactical combat and fun puzzles. While the game never outshines its inspirations, it's a great homage to old classics.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Astral Chain seems to have been developed with that awareness because every element of the game has been thought out with care and worked out just as careful.

Its not easy stepping in the footsteps of Her Story. Telling Lies is great when it comes to quality, but it seems Sam Barlow bit off more than he can chew when it comes to the scale of the game.

DiRT 3 is the result of the decades of experience developer Codemasters has in the racing genre. The game merges different disciplines and forges them into a whole that make for a very powerful foundation. Just a few small misdemeanors that stand between this game, and it growing into the stuff of legend.

Crypt of the NecroDancer is a great roguelike because of its simple, game-changing twist; you do everything you do to the rhythm of the music. The experience is magical, the soundtrack is great and the procedural generated dungeons will challenge you every time.

Fight Night Round 4 is more authentic than previous games. It chooses realism over action packed gameplay, which might scare off some fans of the franchise.

Sins of a Solar Empire gives a twist to the RTS-genre. While the game isn’t very accessible for everyone, RTS-fans will really play the game until the early hours of the morning. The Phase-lines ensure the deep tactical but relax gameplay. Already one of the best RTS-games of the year.

Ikaruga is without doubt the best arcade shooter ever made. Although the Xbox Live Arcade version isn't changed most compared to its predecessors on the Dreamcast and Gamebug, this game is absolutely worth the 800 points. The game is quite a challenge though, which might not appeal everyone. But if you like a challenge, you will be entertained for hours with this game.

Heavy Rain is a unique experience. It’s not a traditional game, but that isn’t a problem, because the strong story, fantastic gameplay and impressive acting make up for it. An emotional adventure in the life of real characters. An interactive drama of which we would like to receive more in the future.

Tactics Ogre: Let u Cling Together's gameplay is timeless and the choices you make bring about radical changes in the story, that make a second playthrough all the more inviting. It doesn't, however, escape certain small irritations.

Pikmin 4 bundles the best of all previous parts and removes the most common criticisms. On paper, that produces the best Pikmin game ever, but due to all the improvements, the game lacks some urgency.

Final Fantasy 16 is a daring and ambitious action-adventure filled with memorable moments, gripping twists and a new, flashy combat system that delivers. It might have been even better if the game had said goodbye to its RPG roots altogether, but the love for Final Fantasy and epic storytelling is palpable every minute.

Gran Turismo 7 isn't as revolutionary as its predecessors or certain competitors, and in some ways even comes across as needlessly narrow-minded. But the game is also incredibly beautiful to look at, wonderfully challenging in terms of car controls and full of love for everything on four wheels. This makes it not a modern classic, but a worthy top model.

The Swapper surprises until the end. Not only thanks to interesting game mechanics and brain breaking puzzles, but also due to a philosophical story that leaves a strong impression and makes you think about the world around you. A game with a message like this shouldn't be missed.

Pokémon SoulSilver and HeartGold are good role playing games. Only the lack of originality will offend some players. In the end, these remakes are pretty much the best and most balanced Pokémon-games out there.

Batman: Arkham Knight is not just the best Batman-game and the best comic book game ever, the game also has one of the most fun open worlds we've ever seen in videogame history. Rocksteady perfected its formula, but did take it a bit too far with the Batmobile.

Even on PC Max Payne 3 is an excellent game. You have the option to crank up the graphics to higher levels and the action is just a little bit more intense with mouse controls. Rockstar delivered with a great port, which misses some refinements with its multiplayer.

Forza Motorsport 6 introduces gamers with heavy rainfalls and night races and offers as much content as we are used to in this franchise. The career mode is slightly boring and nothing is revolutionary in this game, but Forza Motorsport 6 will definitely let you experience cool moments.

It's on like Donkey Kong once more! This game just oozes the vibe of the old platformgames, and in some ways it feels even more fluid than the original series. The co-op doesn't add much though and the rolling and blowing that you can activate by shaking the Wii-controller sometimes feels contrived or downright irritating.
