Ubisoft has solved the difficult task of squeezing one of the best platformers of the past onto a touch screen, and done so brilliantly.

Xcom for iPad is an ambitious project. Most of the content from the console and PC versions have been crammed onto the tiny screen quite well. Unfortunately that comes at a price. The framerate isn’t amazing on iPad Mini and it’s clear that the game was designed for a bigger screen originally. Touch has been implemented admirably and apart from missing multiplayer (which is promised in an update) and the ability to chose colors for your troops this is definitely one of the deepest turn-based strategy games for iOS.

As a horror game, Outlast is a resounding success, due to an engaging story, a finely tuned sense of graphical detailed and a nuanced soundscape. If anything, it plays its strengths a little too safe.

Although it can't shake the feel of just being FIFA 10.5, this is still the best FIFA game yet. An excellent warm-up for the World Cup this summer.

It’s like Clash of Clans with a sci-fi twist, and you’ll keep coming back to scale the leaderboards and steal resources from your enemies.

An excellent and highly original platformer that mixes elements of Prince of Persia, Metroid and Ikaruga of all things. Quality of this kind is rare among download-only titles.

Lumines is a timeless classic on par with Tetris or Columns and has carved its place in history by adding brilliant electronic music to the mix.

Rivals offers thrilling arcade racing of the kind the kind that you can just pick up and play a few rounds of, and has enough graphical prowess for you to show off your new console for your friends. We could do with a little more innovation next time, though.

Once again, Housemarque shows download-only titles can go toe to toe with gaming heavyweights. Resogun is the kind of game that is worth getting a PS4 for.

When the inevitable next mainline game lands in four-five years, I do hope Insomniac shakes it up a bit, but until then, AAA open-world games don't get much more entertaining than this.

Despite a few flaws, this 2D racing platformer still feels as if it was always intended for the iPad, and has one of the best cost-to-playtime ratios we've seen.

Warp is a brilliant, inventive and well thought out action puzzler that's easy to pick up and hard to put down again. It's a bargain at the price, and a title we'll heartily recommend to all fans of games like Portal.

From Dust is a lovely acquaintance. It's elegant, relaxing and gets your gears grinding. It's a different but excellent twist on the puzzle and strategy genres, and one we'll happily recommend.

AC3 has flaws, but they are not all that important. It's easy to love the game, and you'll surrender yourself to Connor's fight for freedom and independence from the Templar oppressors with great satisfaction.

It's impressive how inviting F1 2012 seems in comparison to last year's entry, but the addition of training races, fun new challenges, better car physics and vastly improved technical aspects make this the best game in the series yet.

Clones of Breakout and Arkanoid may be a dime a dozen, but Shatter is the best one yet. The physics system adds a nice twist to a classic concept, and the music is amazing.

An entertaining and well executed action game with traces of Max Payne and True Crime. The single player campaign is a bit on the short side, but 9mm makes up for it with excellent multiplayer. Gameloft is at the top of their game.

The riveting growth of the handheld market in general means we're not as blown away by the third Infinity Blade game as we'd expected we'd be, but it's still a solid game with the potential to become the best of the series.

This game is made for fans of the original. Killing friends in split-screen is just as much fun as it was years ago, at least for the nostalgic value. Had it used a more modern graphics engine this would have been game of the year on Xbox Live.

Dark Souls II has lost none of its relentless difficulty, and the many improvements make it a great experience for veterans and newcomers. But it may not be for everybody. Still a highly recommended experience if you thirst for a new action role playing game in your collection.

Bastion is like the love child of the visual style and calm of Braid and a refined and trimmed version of Torchlight, and one that manages to exceed well beyond our expectations. There are a couple of missteps, and the story could do with a little more bite, but other than that there's no reason not to throw your money at this game and stay indoors a little longer.

Copying so much from Batman Arkham City that it almost feels like stealing. But when the end result delivers, then I can“t really complain much. Despite a few flat textures the game delivers: nice animations, good voice acting, great writing and a nice way to continue after the trip to the cinema. Word of caution: this adventure continues the movie's plot, so go watch the movie first, then beat the hell out of all the bad guys in this fun sandbox.

A great game with enough to please fans of the series and even welcome new players. A new control scheme might add a bit of frustration, but this is quickly forgotten when you dive into the great multiplayer. Team Kilo Squad and the addition of a new star system which awards special play throughs of levels in single player mode add to an already enjoyable title.

The game Diablo III should have been from the start, and an absolute must for anyone who likes Diablo. With the massive injection of new content and total renovation of several core systems, Reaper of Souls in many ways feels fresher than Diablo III did two years ago.
