A great collection of legitimate classics that are still fantastic fun to play. If you enjoy run and gun games and have never played the Turrican games this is the best way to experience them today.

A bland, soulless horizontal SHMUP that is extremely basic and by the numbers. Interesting boss designs don’t do enough to hold the rest of the game up. In such a crowded genre there are much better options.

HITMAN 3 is a satisfying conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy, but makes a few missteps that make the game feel less impactful. This game is a must-buy for any Agent 47 fanatics and is a promising sign that Hitman is still relevant in the modern games industry.

Colonials Programme is a fun game with a few bumps along the way. If you soldier your way through a rough beginning, you’ll find a game that has been crafted quite well. With that being said, the beginning is a slog that is likely to lose some of the users before being given a fair chance.

Startup Panic is fun for its first few hours, but tails off quickly. It’s cute art and music will keep you interested, but once you stop playing you are unlikely to return to this office.

Glitch’s Trip is a beautiful looking, 2D platforming, twin-stick action game that will challenge and destroy you, but it is so cute and charming you will keep coming back for more. With 100 unique levels and challenges there is tons of replayability here.

Unto the End is a scenic, lonely 2D side-scroller that sets its primary focus on a fixed number of intense battles with its unique combat system that is difficult to learn, but satisfying to master. There is no hand-holding here, though sometimes you might wish there was.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a shockingly excellent, cooperative looter-slasher with an incredible visual style that breathes new life into the game to make it feel like a different, yet complete, experience and it's absolutely free.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is a great rhythm game that is sure to be enjoyed by newcomers and veteran players of the genre. However, if you’re buying it for the story you should probably skip this. This isn’t the Kairi game fans have been pining for since the Re:Mind DLC.

A simplistic puzzle game that doesn't take a long time to learn how to play, but requires you to look and rotate the level to navigate your box to the portal to advance. A great game to play to relax and work your mind.

Wet Dreams Dry Twice is a solid sequel to 2018’s entry. Some unfortunate polish issues and inconsistent puzzle difficulty stop it being great. Larry is the same oblivious, sexist, backwards thinking womaniser he’s always been but this adventure might help him grow… might!

A psychological horror game full of puzzles that make you afraid to do anything in your house, including getting out of bed. The game deals with depression, isolation and how that affects your inner dialogue and feelings.

Hivebusters is a safe but rewarding package that gives you more of what you love about Gears 5. The characters are strong, the campaign is solid, and gameplay is exactly what is expected. If you are a fan of Gears 5, then this expansion is a no brainer and is easily another reason to get Game Pass.

Great mech design and accessibility cannot save Override 2: Super Mech League from it’s weightless, lifeless gameplay. The maps often come across as too small, leading to cluttered fights that really affect the games flow.

An epic open-world Action RPG with a tonne of content and genuinely enjoyable exploration makes for a great new IP. There are a few niggles with controls and loading times, and it’s not always clear what you need to do, but when the game is this much fun, I’m happy to overlook those.

A decent adventure title which, despite its slow pace, just barely manages to earn its keep with combat, puzzle and exploration gameplay. It doesn’t live up to its predecessor, but it doesn’t seem like it’s trying to.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition takes an already amazing JRPG and gives it just enough to make it even better. Noticeable performance drops aside, this is one title everyone should experience.

A satisfying take on the Commandos genre. Partisans 1941 allows players to walk through the brutality of the Second World War, searching for a beacon of hope on the other side.

Worms Rumble is a hectic, and chaotic real-time run-and-gun style game featuring the characters you love from the franchise. If you are looking for a game that feels like it’s strategic ancestors with a lot of humour, this is not the game for you.

Hyper Parasite is a very challenging rogue-like game that features a lot of cool ‘80s inspired characters and a cool mechanic that has you playing as a parasite taking over different host bodies to survive. The game might not look great but is still addictive to play.

Overall, Cyberpunk 2077 is a fun game that is plagued by bugs. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this game in its current state, but with patches this should improve.

An enjoyable overworld dragged down by tedious, imprecise platforming gameplay. It’s not devoid of merit, but Drawn To Life: Two Realms isn’t the jolt of electricity needed to shock the franchise back to life.

RoboPhobik is a unique puzzle game where the enemy only moves if you do that makes you be strategic and think out everything you are doing. If you want to run in and destroy everything this may not be the game for you.

Tanuki Justice is a super fun and difficult game reminiscent of challenging games like Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man. Not much for a story here but has a lot of ninja throwing star action, what more do you really need.

Warhammer: Chaosbane Slayer Edition is an improvement on the base game from last generation, but never truly feels like a next gen title. The added content will make this a worthy upgrade for those who enjoyed the base game, however the game remains too generic in terms of story and far too easy when it comes to gameplay.

An '80s inspired arcade racing game with bright neon visuals and synth music. Fun to play once you unlock more vehicles, but is extremely difficult at the beginning until you can ditch that first shaky car you start with that can make you feel a little queasy if you get motion sick.

An interesting trio of games that are fun to play but the collection as a whole feels a little barebones. For a series as important as Space Invaders it feels a little underwhelming though Space Invaders Extreme is still well worth your time!

Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition may not be the prettiest game in the world on the Switch but the sheer amount of content and the overall enjoyment of it does make up for the visuals and even the performance.

Rogue Company mixes casual and tactical gameplay styles to create a hero shooter that, while not particularly innovative, is incredibly entertaining. You’ve seen this all before folks, but sometimes good things stick around for a reason.

Fitting my thoughts on Amnesia: Rebirth in a single paragraph feels like an impossible task. It’s an effective character-driven narrative with forgettable characters; a tense horror game with a distinct lack of horror. Rebirth is exactly what the developers set out to create, which was not the Dark Descent clone that some people were hoping for.

The Falconeer absolutely excels in story and presentation. Sure, its aerial combat gameplay might lack impact or variety, but with such an interesting and visually stunning world, it’s easy to overlook such shortcomings.

DIRT 5 is an excellent, stunning and simply enjoyable arcade racer that is easy for anyone to pick-up and play regardless of your motor vehicle knowledge with a career mode that is surprisingly entertaining. You may want to pick it up on PlayStation 5 though since it feels awesome to play with the new DualSense features.

A great mix of a platformer, RPG and monster catching game Monster Sanctuary has so much depth and content to keep you busy for a long time. Feels like a great RPG from the 16-bit era, a ton of cool monsters to hatch, to aid you on your quest.

A super cute and fun game with an interesting control scheme and puzzles that will work your brain, but not too hard. Great family game with super fun and chaotic multiplayer that will have everyone laughing. Plus, who can resist the adorable pups RED and BLUE?

The forced perspective game mechanic alone makes Superliminal an essential buy for those looking for a new first-person puzzler. Both mind-bogglingly clever and hilarious use of environmental storytelling, the potential to be a classic is limited by its short play time and unnecessary exposition.

Hyrule Warriors: The Age of Calamity is a great addition to the warriors series of games if you enjoy battling huge mobs of enemies. Featuring great character development for Zelda and doesn’t require playing Breath of the Wild to enjoy. The local co-op is great, but sorely absent in the Divine Beast missions.

A great looking, challenging rogue-like game with a crazy heavy metal soundtrack to pump you up. Some people may be turned off because of the high difficulty, but if you keep with it, you will find your skill level will improve making the game easier.

Extremely well put together remasters that stay true to the original games. Travis’ brash personality is fun to inhabit and the combat is still extremely satisfying. The series is well worth your time, especially if you missed out on them originally.

Bar a few niggly control issues, this is a great port of the game. Quirky humour, a lovely soundtrack and a story that keeps you engaged. It’s a little on the easy side, but with six episodes you do get your money’s worth.

A fun, personality-filled puzzle-platformer that brings more to the table than you’d first expect. Despite technical imperfections on the Switch version, this is one to check out.

Incredibly, the most impressive game at the start of the new generation is a niche Japanese game I had to import from France in 2010. If you have to try one Souls game, I would suggest making it Demon’s Souls.

This game is the perfect mix of an RPG, 2D Platformer and farming simulator that you can find. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin looks and sounds great and has a great story that will make you care about all the characters.

Accessible enough for everybody, Among Us coaxes out everyone’s inner psychopath and Sherlock. With short addictive bursts of gameplay that's long enough to satiate, this sleeper hit has/will become a staple in your games library and gaming nights to come.

This game is absolutely not fun, the only appeal to this game is if you want to go abroad but don’t care about the beaches or the actual holiday part.

Sony’s obligatory ‘tech-demo’ game is a fun-loving trip through PlayStation history. Despite looking like a throwaway title, it easily stands alongside the biggest hits on the launch of the PlayStation 5.

Assassin’s Creed brings beautiful English countryside to the masses whilst fixing a lot of the series’ recent missteps. Some genuinely fun and surprising moments with some great writing make for a fun time.

As a budget title, this is a very pretty pool game and the addition of a snooker mode helps as well. But annoying music, iffy controls and an uneven difficulty curve make it difficult to wholeheartedly recommend.

Trollhunters: Defender of Arcadia is a dull but mostly serviceable throwback to an era of gaming where licensed 2D platformers were rife. Decent writing and acting do help it stand out, but not by much.

I can see myself spending a lot of time with FUSER, as I regale moments of my youth with various software that didn’t have any of the shine present here. A music game without custom peripherals is a breath of fresh air - both in reducing the cost and in showing that it’s about the creativity of mixing tracks, rather than just playing back some buttons in time with the screen.

Another fantastic experience from Insomniac’s serving of Spider-Man. An improvement on an already fantastic original title. In Insomniac’s hands, we don’t just have two great Spider-Man games, but two great Spider-Men.

Adventures of Chris doesn’t break new ground in the 2D platformer genre. Still, it provides genuine humour, personality and variety in bucketloads, all while sending a few loving glances to the 16-bit era of videogames.

Ubisoft have done well with this game but if you get frustrated easily I would maybe wait till this game has had a few more updates first before playing it.

Chicken Police: Paint It Red is a gorgeous looking film noir style game that takes everything you love from the classic buddy-cop movies and mixes it with a huge cast of anthropomorphic characters. The story, voice-overs and adult humour are great making this a must play.

Though there are a lot of issues under the hood, Pacer is a decent anti-grav racer at heart. If R8 Games continue to tinker, tweak, support and add enough post-launch content - the potential is there for this series to become a serious contender.

Time manipulation with an action hero instead of a prince. It’s an interesting puzzle game in the guise of a first-person shooter, and if you ignore the story there’s a lot of fun to be had here.

A blast to play, and brings back much needed separation and personality to the numbered series of DIRT games that that DiRT 4 seemed to lose by blurring the lines too much. Playground mode will absolutely keep me coming back for more to beat not just my own, but friends' times as well, because there’s nothing better than beating a time within mere hundredths and restoring bragging rights.

9 Monkeys of Shaolin is an enjoyable time for any side-scrolling beat ‘em up fan who’s eager for some engaging and varied combat, but don’t expect to be enthralled by Wei Chang’s story.

Bugsnax is special. Young Horses have a unique, interesting and charming concept that’s been executed perfectly. There are a few nitpicks here and there but if you have any interest in Bugsnax you’ll find a game unlike any other and one I can’t stop saying good things about.

I quite enjoyed the time I spent with Crysis Remastered. The game does hold up well to this day however the performance issues and the frustrating AI really hindered my enjoyment.

Unless you’re already in the mood I don’t think I can recommend Nyan Café Macchiato ~ Sexy Times at the Cat Café ~. If it had a scene selection you might have a use for it but in between the sex scenes you have to bear the non-existent characters and overall creepy vibe of the title. There are some pretty funny looking cats and the audio design is pretty good though.

It’s not the most complex of games, but Space Crew serves its purpose as a decent enough sequel to Bomber Crew. It’s a 4X game with a couple of missing Xs if you will. Poor controls and a lack of variety stop it from being a classic however.

An enjoyable stealth, horror puzzle game, that is definitely creepy, but not too scary. The puzzles are enjoyable to solve and will have you coming back again and again to figure them out. It’s too bad the Chaos Servants seemed so dumb and lazy at times, as they weren’t very scary at all.

Torchlight III started life as a free-to-play title, and by all accounts it shows. It won’t bore you, but it’s just not engaging enough to become your next gaming obsession.

A fun dungeon romp with some fun characters that hold it all together. Average exploration and combat that doesn’t try anything unique but all in all a good time can be had here.

A challenging battle game that has you fighting head-to-head against aliens in a reality TV show to gain your freedom. It takes a while to get used to how the controls work and feel, but once you do this is a very addictive game.

Banner of the Maid is rough around the edges but past the pacing and localisation issues, players will find an engaging and unique narrative, along with easy to pick up gameplay that offers plenty of room to tailor the challenge.

Beautiful, challenging and frustrating in equal measure, Relicta is a game you should pick up if you want an exercise for your brain.

A debut game that sets a high standard moving forward for Polygon Treehouse. Truly fitting their mission statement of creating "adventures to feed your soul", Röki is excellent.

With some quite tricky puzzles, Ever Forward is a rather challenging puzzler. The luscious graphics and lovely soundtrack definitely help the experience, but I’d have liked a bit more game. The pacing is a touch on the slow side too, so not one for the impatient.

Worm Jazz is a clever puzzle game that can get challenging as you work your way through the levels, but it’s so forgiving that it mainly just wants you to sit back, relax and listen to some smooth jazz.

An incredibly cute game full of food themed mini-games and adorable characters. This game really shines when played multiplayer locally or online. Prove that you have what it takes to become the tastiest treat in the bakery!

Despite lacklustre multiplayer and a frustrating paywall to unlock characters and items, Genshin Impact is a brilliant experience with hours of fun-filled exploration. It also has Paimon and she is perfect.

A vibrant world full of enjoyable characters and high-quality voice acting take the edge off a game that’s boring at the best of times and broken at the worst.

The three-pronged combination of satisfying moment-to-moment combat, a plethora of long-term permanent upgrades, and an intricately woven story that seamlessly unfolds make Hades a dangerously enjoyable game.

A fun kart racing game that offers four player local and online multiplayer with a huge cast of characters from the Nickelodeon catalogue of shows that you can use to build your dream racing team. It has you racing on tracks inspired by the cartoons and featuring the music you know.

A game that has the potential to be really cool, but a lack of direction and incredibly short game really make this a frustrating play.

Fairy Tail is a rushed spinoff that rarely has an ounce of the energy shown in its source material. It’s more ambitious than many other anime games, but the execution is severely lacking. So much so that, if Fairy Tail was just another cookie-cutter arena fighter instead, it probably would have been a better game.

If the worst thing you can say about a rougelite is that it kills you, then Noita can’t be that bad. I’m a big fan of this game and can’t wait to play some more.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is a great remaster that made me remember a lot about RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and I am looking forward to spending even more time in that great classic game.

An enticing multiplayer experience that does a fantastic job of slowly easing players into its intricate design, Star Wars: Squadrons is making its mark on the gaming world. As long as Motive Studios can keep up with this momentum, I can’t see it crashing anytime soon.

A fun arcade-like party game in the Umihara Kawase series, the fishing rod and lure are back, but crazy knockback animations and underwhelming boss battles make the game drag in parts.

Despite some (mostly successful) attempts to tweak the formula, this is, at its core, Serious Sam exactly how you remember it.

Overall, I loved my time that I spent with Iron Harvest and I can’t wait to convince some friends to get it too so we can have some skirmish battles.

An extremely distinct investigation game with the rare confidence to let you actually be a detective, and a fun groove to boot.

The Darkside Detective is an adventure game that will have you laughing as you solve the mysteries behind the paranormal events plaguing Twin Lakes. With great visuals, music and movie references this is a must play!

An adorable resource management game featuring poncho-wearing creatures that hold balloons. A strategy game of optimisation where every decision matters and where every decision is interesting. A surprise gem!

A bland, average dungeon crawler with some interesting characters that many will find uncomfortable to play through. Unnecessarily pushes boundaries of acceptability with regards to its lewd content.

An experience that pulls from gaming’s best (and worst) bits to create a wholly unforgettable few hours. There is No Game: Wrong Dimension, is not just a game: it’s something very different and a little bit special.

All in all, Tennis World Tour 2 marks a notable improvement over its predecessor. Though, admittedly, that’s not saying too much when you consider just how poor it was. This seems like a franchise on the right track now but there’s a long road ahead before it can match and compete with other top sporting videogames.

Whilst these are great games, this isn’t a great collection. With almost no extras, very little tweaking of the games for the Switch and no Super Mario Galaxy 2 this just isn’t quite what I’d hoped for. I’m still enjoying the games, but for many people this won’t represent particularly great value. If you don’t already have the games then get it. If you do, you might want to give it some thought first.

From its expansive lore to its varied play styles, it is clear that Last Regiment has a lot of heart behind it, but the game breaks too easily, both in terms of game balance and bugs.

An underwhelming game, full of lag, that is janky and has issues with hit detection. There is no online multiplayer, and it’s very boring to play against the dumb AI.

Overall Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is well built, no issues with graphics, glitches or sounds other than the puzzles being so hard that I decided to call it a day, I might go back to it in the future as I do like the game and that's not just because of the Peaky Blinders.

NASCAR aficionados will likely love getting more action where they can, especially with the cancellation of events due to the pandemic at this time, but those that like a more varied racer might want to look elsewhere. If you want to dip your toes in the NASCAR water though, and find out why it’s more than just turning left, HEAT 5 could well be a good shout.

A fun, casual arcade racer that has a decent chunk of a career mode to keep you busy with some fun aspects, let down by wonky AI and being placed into the wrong series of games making it really hard to recommend to either demographic of casual race fans or sim racers.

Beautiful looking, challenging racing game that recreates all the things you love about arcade racers. Great single and multiplayer experiences to be had here.
