At first I will admit the game did not appeal to me but as I played the game and pushed back the expectations I held for a game of this type and realized it was made for kids I began to enjoy the game and its quirks. It may not be a game I would recommend to buy for most gamers but if you are an average gamer rent it and if you have kids buy it, this is a great summer distraction.- GameFocus

NASCAR 09 is far better game than last year’s...but it still a long, long way from what we’ve seen in "NASCAR 06," which I still think was and still the best NASCAR game ever.- GameFocus

Given the garbage most fans have had to go through in recent years, including one luke-warm Aliens vs Predator movie, and the lack of any kind of game attention since Concrete Jungle, AvP is a welcome addition to the series. However, if you have the choice between console or PC, we recommend the PC version. It looks better.- GameFocus

Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype is certainly an improvement on the original thanks to the focus on allowing new players the opportunity to still have a fun experience. At the same time, the inclusion of challenges and putting an emphasis on collection in order to experience the complete single player campaign will keep the hardcore occupied for a while.- GameFocus

Even with the imperfect controls and average multiplayer, veterans of the genre will find satisfaction in the game's attention to detail. Seeing RUSE appeal to anyone else is harder to fathom.- GameFocus

White Knight Chronicles is a game that could have been so much more. Unfortunately, it seems Level 5 focused too much on the combat system and not enough on providing a challenge. That said, I would recommend renting before you buy, as the other elements just aren’t tight enough to make this an easy recommendation.- GameFocus

I absolutely enjoyed playing through Cuboid. Once you get started, don’t be surprised if you lose track of time or want to replay certain mazes because you know you can complete it in less moves. The game is challenging but you’ll never feel cheated. So, if you are looking for a fun game that will test you and stimulate your brain, then you cannot go wrong with giving Cuboid a try.- GameFocus

While not perfect, for its price, indie roots and throw back to the movie “Tron”, this is a must buy for action gamers.- GameFocus

It’s hard to understand what happened this year. While the developers have been able to successfully incorporate so many new features into Madden 09 and NHL 09, the same winning recipe can’t be found on NBA Live 09. Nonetheless, fans of the franchise will find fit to their shoe on what we can label as a good NBA Live game but not the best we’ve seen.- GameFocus

Rise of the Argonauts will give you some hours of fun and will even teach a thing or two about Greek mythology but that weird feeling of unfinished business and awkwardness will keep popping up during your quest. If you can bypass these annoyances, you will find some way to appreciate the work and the effort put on this game by the developer to please those “I want innovation but not that innovative” whiny gamers. Why this reminds me of Too Human all of a sudden?- GameFocus

Well if you are a fan of the Final Fantasy games at all and are looking for a good single player RPG then look no further. But if you dislike the older Final Fantasy games and are not willing to buy new content to extend the game you should look elsewhere.- GameFocus

We have come a long way with side scrollers since the days of Super Mario Brothers and Contra. Trine is a visual treat; the puzzles are a challenge and the characters all have fun elements to their play. While it might be a little overpriced on PC, if you own a Playstation 3 it would be a great addition to your downloadable games collection!- GameFocus

Brutal Legend is a solid and entertaining game with an entertaining and interesting story with some of the best audio, soundtrack, sound effects and voice acting, seen this year. Unfortunately the game itself is lacking in variety and innovation. Perhaps the massive marketing blitz provided by EA simply drove expectations to unreachable heights. Regardless, Brutal Legend is at least a must try for any fan of open world action.- GameFocus

If the old school mechanics just doesn't get it done for you, then it'll be tough to drop the 1200 MP ($15) on it. However, fans of the franchise or the genre in general should give Hard Corp: Uprising a shot.- GameFocus

I love(d) the Banjo-Kazooie series for years and they were the best reason to keep your N64 around for many gamers. But while this new Banjo-Kazooie title is one game I liked, I found it to be a bit boring to play at times and it honestly lacks or feels that it lacks a true identity to be either a game for kids or for adult gamers. Highly recommend it as a rental, but make sure this is a game for you before buying.- GameFocus

If you have already had your fill of the fourth and fifth chapters and are still clamoring for more nostalgic level grinding, then this will fill that void. Just don't come in expecting a shining example of what the genre had available at the time.- GameFocus

While we still might be in need of an injection in the J-RPG landscape, it is nice to see one that does stand on its own instead simply being a generic wannabe that is a blatant cut and paste of past glory.- GameFocus

While Afro Samurai won’t be the worst game you will play in 2009, the only thing I can say is that it could be so much better. The incredible presentation level, the nice graphics/animations and the compelling storyline are overshadowed by the poor camera angles, the repetitive and tiresome gameplay and the impossibility to change the X-axis controls.- GameFocus

X-Men Origins: Wolverine delivers exceptionally on a very simple concept: an M Rated slice and dice adventure starring Wolverine that follows the plot of the movie. It never claims to be anything deeper than that, and in a way, that’s why it succeeds.- GameFocus

While Sorry! is one of the most fast-paced and per consequent, one of the most frustrating games of the whole Family Game Night experience, it remains the most amusing game of the whole bunch. Still, if you have purchased one (or all) of previous Family Game Night titles, adding this one should not be an issue an it’s even a must.- GameFocus

The strongest aspects of Divinity II are the excellent story, so long as you are willing to dig it out, and the incredibly open-ended character skills customization. While this game certainly has its flaws, the pros far outweigh the cons, and it is a game that cannot be sipped but must be gulped or possibly even quaffed!- GameFocus

Age of Booty is an addicting RTS that while simple to grasp; it has enough to offer hardcore gamers. The single-player mode is hurt by uncooperative AI teammates but the online multiplayer more than makes up for this. Age of Booty is a winner for anyone who enjoys the RTS genre or always wanted to try it.- GameFocus
