Super Treasure Arena is a very simple and minimalistic retro-styled action game with strategy elements. While at its core the game offers some fun, especially if played with friends (though without a dedicated multiplayer), it quickly becomes too repetitive and the lack of goals becomes impossible to ignore, not to mention the slightly unsuitable control scheme.

My Big Sister might not be the most enthralling masterpiece ever made but this production is not without its charm and value, namely its plot with multiple endings and art style. Those looking forward for its puzzles will find them too similar and its lifespan could certainly use an improvement but My Big Sister stands out when it comes to quality of its writing and character interaction.

Tappingo does its role and does it well. This Picross-inspired puzzle game is simple enough to understand quickly and to grab the player's attention for some time. It does feel a bit stripped, though, looking at the lack of contents beyond its main experience, with a complete absence of extras and additional modes.

Comic Workshop 2 is less of a follow-up and more of an update of its predecessor. Most aspects have been improved and there are some new tools which can be quite useful for those eager to create their own comics on the 3DS. The option to share images on Miiverse is also a welcome arrival.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power has headed into a 3D direction and while the audiovisual qualities of the series remain top notch, the new world in which the game is set does not feel entirely right and the experience ends up getting harmed as a consequence. There is no doubt that the series' co-op component is still one of its main assets but bringing Trine 3 into a 3D world raises questions that don't always get the best answers.

SIMULACRA does not play like the greatest work ever made but that doesn't mean there's nothing to draw from this mystery FMV adventure. While the gameplay feels rather shallow, the plot is compelling enough to keep the players entertained and involved with the hints and twists that are found along the way and the feeling of satisfaction when coming across a clue or reaching a different ending do help SIMULACRA to have some merit of its own.

Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix falls into an ungrateful position. While there is nothing particularly bad about this game, it never manages to go so far as to stand out amidst its peers. Despite its good-looking artwork, this is a mostly generic effort when it comes to plot and dialogues and with a gameplay that has too many clichés and which does not add an in-depth dimension to the experience.

A challenging and fun effort with an online-capable level editor, I, Zombie is not the most ambitious game every made and it's rather short and repetitive but that doesn't stand in the way of this being a good proposal for what it aims.

The game is less kind with newcomers and beginners, as it has very little in terms of tutorials and assistance for those less familiar with snooker but despite its somewhat robotic animations and limited career mode, Snooker 19 fills a gap in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Tower defense games require certain control systems in order to be pleasant on the player’s hands. Unfortunately, Cubemen 2 for the Wii U lacks an adequate control scheme and the near-complete absence of online opponents turns this into a repetitive experience.

    • 60 Critic Score
It doesn't fulfill all its promises, however, as the lack of guidance can make the experience more frustrating and there is not enough variety regarding the puzzles to keep the players entertained for a long period of time.

While visually it's certainly a rich and pleasant experience, it's also very repetitive on a short term basis, which will end up wearing itself out unless it's played only in very quick bouts.

It doesn't fully capitalize on these factors, however, as the game's theme gets repetitive too quickly, the feeling of speed is absent and loading times are way too long, which coupled with a rather mediocre soundtrack, means that this All-Star Fruit Racing does not reach the same threshold as the biggest name in kart racing games.

NBA Playgrounds fails to satisfy the aspirations of those looking for a fun arcade-style basketball game. While its local multiplayer is fun, the flaws and shortcomings of the single player mode and the (for the time being) lack of an online mode make the game's full potential extremely limited. There are too many obstacles and unexplainable problems standing in the way of making this an enjoyable effort.

This rhythm game with an emotive plot features a marvelous soundtrack, as it should for a rhythm game, and a gameplay that includes several good ideas, as well as some flaws which along with the game's exaggerated price and its clear origins of a game made for mobile devices and which have not been properly improved make this a game that falls short of its real potential.

State of Mind has a rather peculiar look but its plot stands out as its greatest asset, as well as the availability of multiple characters for the players to control. On the other hand, despite the quality of the plot, it's also rather slow-paced and takes its time to grow, which will most likely put off the less patient players and the events are rather predictable for those who know the sci-fi genre.

It's more accessible to new players, provides a good speed sensation and the career mode is better implemented. However it leaves the impression that it didn't go all the way in its job to improve the experience compared to the original and the result is a game that is inconsistent on its performance and has a visually poor environment.

It might not be too ambitious but its fun and simple gameplay is definitely something that will immediately grab the player's attention and allow for a few hours of fun. Unfortunately it can get too simplistic and as a consequence, it will end up driving players away too soon.

The Lost Child draws heavily from several genres and seeks inspiration on many popular series to create something that is competent at what it proposes but which fails to fully stand on its two feet and make a name for itself. While the capture mechanic and combat system can be interesting, the game doesn't really captivate the player on a broader basis and ends up disappointing those who would expect something closer to the series that The Lost Child follows so adamantly.

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche is an unusual game, based on the formula of a shoot'em-up but with plenty of elements of other genres, and which does several things right - its original ideas, humor-filled dialogue and colourful outlook stand out as its main assets. On the other hand, its very short lifespan, high selling price and rather quick way with which it will feel like a done experience will not attract many players to this new arrival on the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Mosaic for the Nintendo Switch is not based on the most exciting of premises, but is that a sin? Not at all, this is a game that chose to focus on the most mundane, repetitive and mind-numbing aspects of everyday life, with emphasis on the bleak, empty loneliness that permeates existence in urban societies. And it works, to a certain extent. It certainly transmits the harsh void that occupies many human lives, even if the game's performance is far from ideal due to its many glitches, bugs and hiccups, which end up harming what by some measures is an interesting experience.

With a 1990s environment and some attempts at innovating an RPG's fighting system, YIIK has something to go for it, but unfortunately this gets rather lost in a game that is overall too frustrating and confusing. With its inconsistent art style and gameplay and a main character that's impossible to relate to, YIIK could have explored its real potential in a much more enjoyable way but as it is, it's mostly an unfulfilled work.

Save Koch has an interesting game world, features some funny dialogues and is certainly based on some solid ideas. However their execution leaves a lot to be desired: the game pretty much abandons the players to their luck without much guidance, causing a feeling of disorientation where it's almost impossible to know what to do, and its rather arbitrary missions work mostly on a trial and error basis.

Weapon Shop de Omasse may start off in a funny and compelling way, but it quickly gets overrun by an overall feeling of repetitiveness. Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 sticks to the formula of the series and doesn't go beyond that. Its contents and character exchange mechanism are worthy of praise but it quickly becomes repetitive and the different modes don't show that much difference between them.

Ninja Usagimaru: The Mysterious Karakuri Castle sets up high expectations with its rich audiovisual environment and apparent enormous amount of content to explore, but its extremely demanding difficulty curve and poorly executed controls will send many players in a path of frustration that will not leave them longing for the puzzles where the eponymous ninja rescues the villagers.

Carcassonne, the classic board game, lands on the Nintendo Switch, bringing a quality local multiplayer experience and the possibility of playing solo at any time and anywhere. If this sets the bar high, this version doesn't fully satisfy expectations due to its lack of an online component and of an asynchronous multiplayer mode, which puts this Switch version at a disadvantage.
