Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee is a conversion of a game that originally came out nineteen years ago and while the Oddworld series is undoubtedly an outstanding example in platform games, this conversion work falls way behind expectations. With few elements that will appeal to contemporary players, this will almost exclusively look interesting for fans of the original and brings little to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Last Encounter joins the ranks of roguelike games on the Nintendo Switch and as a twin-stick shooter, it does a good job at presenting ideas regarding the ship's upgrading and an approach to combat that forces the player to think carefully. Unfortunately not all goes well, and the weight of the difficulty and limits to upgrades will erect a wall that becomes difficult to overcome. Dedicated roguelike fans will find it more bearable but the wider audience will quickly lose motivation.

While its content is varied and plentiful, players will find it difficult to keep concentrated on its repetitive nature, hindered further by the game's controls that have simply been transferred from the original PC version into a Nintendo Switch game, without regard for the console's format. With few incentives to advance and a repetitive gameplay, it's hard to see how this game will attract a crowd.

Pet Care is a game for young children that does pretty much what its title suggests: taking care of pets, more specifically by giving them food. Simple and accessible, it also runs out of content very quickly and the children who might be captivated by its good use of the Nintendo Switch touch screen won't spend too much time until they turn their attention elsewhere, as Pet Care is too repetitive to provide an immersive experience.

Dezatopia is a sidescrolling shoot'em up that features plenty of action but alas, it's plagued by a dreadful performance and an unintuitive control that takes time to get used to. The visual environment is very sub-par as well, and even though this is less relevant than the gameplay and performance, Dezatopia's soundtrack is far from enough to give any reasons of investing in this production.

Shadows 2: Perfidia tries to create an atmosphere of horror but the result is only a half-success: if the soundscape does a good job, the visual landscape is far from that and it turns out to be uglier than it is scary. It's not a remarkable feast of gameplay either, very simplistic but with a well implemented sanity mechanic. Shadows 2: Perfidia is not something that will raise the hair on everyone's neck but for those who are interested in a decent work of a horror-themed audio environment and a good use of a sanity mechanic, it can be a fun purchase.

Arc of Alchemist does one thing right: it looks like a charm. Beyond the relative interest the game might have for viewers of the TV show, who will enjoy this further look into its world, there's very little else worth pointing out to the general public. AeternoBlade II for the Nintendo Switch has some good ideas and its RPG-like elements do give the game some appeal. Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman for the Nintendo Switch doesn't quite feel like it fits in this format - indeed, this is a game that was originally made for mobile devices and the short, brief nature of its gameplay doesn't hide that nature. This doesn't mean the experience is bad per se, the gameplay is simple and intuitive and those looking for quick game rounds will find something minimally satisfying but there's very little here that goes beyond a very shallow depth and there are much more involving and fun alternatives out there.

Back in 1995 joins the crowd of retro-inspired indie games on the Nintendo Switch catalogue. Unfortunately it gets nothing right. It tries to follow a different path than most retro-based games by taking an audiovisual line based on the 32-bit generation but fails at everything it attempts: a poor audiovisual environment, a clunky and unnerving gameplay and controls, and a plot that barely adds up, not to mention completely dysfunctional enemies. Any players longing for gaming experiences of the early days of the 32-bit generation should look elsewhere.

Football Game on the Nintendo Switch isn't what its name suggests - in the sense that there is no football action at all, whether association football or gridiron. This is rather a simplistic take on 1990s adventure games, with puzzles related to each character. Unfortunately, Football Game does not succeed in delivering what it promises. There is nothing positive to highlight in Vroom in the night sky. Its gameplay mechanics are completely superficial and the game offers no depth of play, its audiovisual environments are outdated by three generations and the HD rumble function does more harm than good. Next to all those negative aspects, the very poor translations are nothing but a funny detail.

When a regular flow is required to keep the player's attention, Plantera will often fail at this, which will leave its players somewhat frustrated and disappointed with what the game offers.

Mini Golf Resort may boast a large amount of content in the form of holes, trophies, outfits, clubs and whatnot but this is not matched by the game's quality, which falls way below expectations. A lack of creativity in level design, camera problems and an overall poor audiovisual experience make this game passable and under performing, despite the amount of content provided.

Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers could have been a more appealing game thanks to the use of popular characters from Cartoon Network shows but unfortunately, none of this is fully explored as the game features a gameplay that pales next to any other game of the kind and the high price demanded for it only harms the game's standing even more, making it impossible to recommend to anyone.

For all its rather interesting puzzles, Soul Axiom does not manage to stand out due to its sub-par level design and overall unappealing gameplay. The game also needs a technical overhaul, as its drops in framerate can often harm the moment and its lack of immersion will keep the players from developing a keener interest.

While Twisted Fusion does feature some interesting ideas at the level of its gameplay concepts, the game ends up falling flat on its face due to an overall poor execution. In some moments, Twisted Fusion is even borderline unplayable, which coupled with its subpar visual environment, an enormous amount of bugs that should not have passed quality control and low precision platforming, lead to a game that needed a serious reworking before being made available.

    Ash
ASH tries hard to pay tribute to turn-based RPGs of the 1980s and 1990s...so hard that it doesn't realize that genres evolve for a reason. This game is mostly stuck on a sea of obsolescence and not even its well-written dialogues can add a different flair to a production that does poorly in nearly every other aspect.

Its gameplay is extremely frustrating and entirely based on trial and error, forcing the players to repeat the sames stages over and over under an extremely tight time limit and making use of very inaccurate and imprecise controls, which will only aggravate the players' overwhelming sense of frustration.

Dragon Skills has a simple and accessible concept which seems appealing to the retro-minded players but it's also plagued by problems which turn it into a difficult experience. If the decision to use the GamePad vertically is hard to understand, merciless difficulty progression and lack of fluidity don't make anything better.

Ambition of the Slimes could have been a more fun, dynamic and overall compelling strategy RPG were it not for its flaws and ill-conceived organization, which will result in very frustrating and repetitive combats and long moments of plain annoyance at how the game puts the player in combat with a very unforgiving system and difficult interaction.

Blasting Agent makes sense in its original format and environment but when converting it to the Wii U, the result is too problematic - not just due to its technical issues and unstable framerate but especially due to incoherent level design and the overall feeling that this conversion adds nothing to what already existed.

Hot Rod Racer has no personality and its gameplay mechanics are simply frustrating and not fun. There are few objectives, its tracks don't motivate the player to go forward and the vehicle's hitbox makes everything more difficult. A clear case of a game designed for the mobile segment which has no place elsewhere, no matter how low its selling price is.

Toon Tanks could have made an effort to provide something simple and fun but it fails on every goal it set for itself. A graphically plain work, whose levels are nearly all alike, offering only one model of vehicle for the whole game and completely devoid of creativity or originality, there is no point in which Toon Tanks stands out within even the most modest of ambitions.

Sweetest Thing is clearly a game designed for the mobile market which unfortunately did not receive a proper conversion treatment when ported to the Wii U. As such, there are several gameplay aspects which, as adequate as they may be for a mobile system, just do not fit in with the Wii U, beyond its short lifespan and repetitive nature.

Pixel Maker is another drawing application for the Wii U which asides from demonstrating that Nintendo's console is a good format for this kind of programs, doesn't achieve anything else. Its options are very limited and will leave most people frustrated if they expected something more ambitious from a drawing application.

Sssnakes tries to bring back the experience of the game that was popularized sixteen years ago in Nokia mobile phones and while the intention is laudable, its execution and implementation end up falling very short of what's expected. Unresponsive controls and an exaggerated difficulty level, along with a sub-par presentation and a lack of content trump over a low price tag and the good ideas introduced in some of the levels.

Reptilian Rebellion may feature a funny concept interesting enough for a title of this dimension but the game has nothing else going for it, as its interface and visual appearance are below the acceptable standards and its gameplay quickly becomes way too dull, even for an eShop title at this price. There are several better alternatives in the Wii U's digital catalogue for this style.

Bringing Langrisser out of Japan after 25 years is worthy of praise but unfortunately it's the only thing worth praising about Langrisser Re: Incarnation Tensei. Its gameplay mechanics force the player to follow a pre-set order to move the characters, rather than allowing for a more dynamic choice, its visual environment needs a near-complete overhaul and its chapters are simply not motivating to move forward.

Epic Dumpster Bear is competent at providing a hilarious, long-lasting and varied platforming experience that doesn't take itself too seriously. Beyond that, it's a rather standard game that doesn't rely on anything else, certainly not on its simple visual and audio atmosphere. While players looking for a funny platformer will be entertained, those who crave a more in depth and technically gratifying experience will look elsewhere.

Jones of Fire could have pushed the bar further if it had been more ambitious but the limitations of converting a mobile game to a home console format quickly become all too obvious. While there's some fun to be had in short, quick sessions, Jones of Fire doesn't take long until it becomes too repetitive and its overall components are clearly sub par compared to what is expected from a platform game.
