ASH is an RPG that gives a minimal experience into the genre.

ASH tries hard to pay tribute to turn-based RPGs of the 1980s and 1990s...so hard that it doesn't realize that genres evolve for a reason. This game is mostly stuck on a sea of obsolescence and not even its well-written dialogues can add a different flair to a production that does poorly in nearly every other aspect.

Right off the bat, the player needs to begin grinding for both exp and money. The first dungeon is pretty difficult without some grinding before it. At this point, it may seem like this RPG was nothing more than a poorly-handled weekend project. However, as you play, you get more interested with the dialogue, story, and, characters of the game. By the end, the difficulty will have leveled out and the story alone will keep you wanting for more. Unfortunately, poor design, sound quality, and general lack of quality in some areas has lowered my score given. Expand

Worst spend money ever. Ash is a playable RPG of a RPGMaker quality with a growing cast of characters, but the grind is endless, just to get to the next uninteresting map board. Zero story. Zero love. The 2nd ally to Ash is a dude that gains corruption with power moves, but the corruption mechanism isn't fleshed out at all either.

Compare this to a free game like the (fan translated) A.S.H., aka Archaic Sealed Heat, which at least has a cute girl in it, with much better story, some puzzle solving, and everything that ASH lacks.
