    Garage Mechanic Simulator wants to deliver the experience of car reparations on the Nintendo Switch but unfortunately, it fails on its every goal. Due to its very clunky and counter-intuitive controls, a user interface with very little information and virtually no stimulation or encouragement to exploration, Garage Mechanic Simulator is an option that's better left in the garage.

    Garage Mechanic Simulator takes an uneventful premise and wraps it in an aesthetically uninteresting package with an embarrassing user interface. When it comes to fundamentals, console polish, and stand out features, this game is out of gas. It’s so boring, I’m taking my business to another garage.

    The game has god awful controls and no option to review the tutorial (which is much needed). The menus need more text and less iconography. IThe game has god awful controls and no option to review the tutorial (which is much needed). The menus need more text and less iconography. I finally took my switch off the dock and started using the touch screen exclusively and it started making more sense as I went through the motions and yet, was still difficult to navigate. For example: Every. Single. Time. You tap on a huge, round wheel, the tiny tie rod is highlighted. Every time you click on the plastic engine cover, the battery way off to the side is highlighted. The pacing of the game left me with mixed feelings. It starts you out with spark plugs and wheels. As you level, you unlock exhaust and then later, air filters, but you still don’t really get to do many new things until you’ve done so many spark plugs and wheels your head begins to spin. Maybe that’s better for kids or someone that has never done it in real life. It’s a neat game and educational, I suppose... but not very realistic. I can’t figure out if we are changing that many wheels or TIRES. Because there is a definite difference. Also, why can’t you disconnect which exhaust piece you need rather than starting at the muffler and taking the entire pipe apart bit-by-bit? The tire press is anything but realistic. It’s like a filler uhh... minigame, if you could call it that. I got it on sale for 79 cents, so I would say it’s worth that much. LOL.… Expand
