Metro 2033 is a classic FPS with some new features that distinguish it from its competitors, as the ammunition to be used as a currency and the importance given to the gas mask. Gameplay is generally funny, despite sometimes a little bit too scripted. Thumbs up for the AI of the enemies, quite realistic. Graphics on PC are simply astounding, while on Xbox 360 the final result is not as good as we would have expected.

Funny, tough and surprisingly good: Rimlight Studios’ debut game Zheros is the first unmissable indie game of the year and one of the best beat ‘em up we’ve played in the recent years. A must-have if you grew up playing Double Dragon, Street of Rage and Final Fight.

Though very different from its predecessors, MotorStorm RC proves as fun as any other arcade game out there... and maybe even more. Too bad for the lack of online multiplayer.

Pick up an arcade racing game and mix it with little bits of RPG and MMO. Blend them together and you'll have a juicy cocktail called Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Jedi: Fallen Order is the epitome of the traditional action-adventure video game, and a proper visual tribute to the Star Wars universe. It had everything that was needed to make Star Wars videogames great again, but shallow narrative and small technical flaws ultimately held it back.

Battlefield V is a solid experience crafted from BF1 for BF1’s fans. It’s a great start for a game that in the next months (hopefully) is going to show its true potential.

Rune Factory 4 keep the series fun and fresh while finally porting it to Nintendo 3DS. The gameplay is varied and surprisingly exiting. A must have, if you like the genre, if you don’t, try it anyway.

Tales of Arise is able to please both longtime fans of the saga and newbies: accessible, aesthetically satisfying and always with a smooth pace, it has managed to refresh the combat system with an excellent compromise between action and strategy , without however setting aside the parametric component: an adventure that absolutely deserves to be lived.

Crusader Kings II: Horse Lords is another well-conceived DLC for the incredibly fun and deep medieval strategic simulator that is Crusader Kings. If you are into it, Horse Lords keeps his promises of more hours of fun and interesting decision.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a good remake of the Microprose's original game. Old fans may find it too simplified, but the new XCOM is, however, a modern and spectacular turn-based strategy game. It is not perfect but it's a game that many people will love.

The Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III is still great, but the lack of cool features for the new GamePad has to be noticed. A number of frame rate issues and some bugs are enough to judge this version of ACIII the less impressive out there.

Age of Empires IV marks the Year 0 of a new era for the saga. Relic and World's Edge used the second chapter as a founding stone to build a new iteration which is half nostalgic and half innovative, shuffling the cards but never too much, creating a game that is appealing for both hardcore fans and complete newcomers. It might have some flaws, but it's really hard to imagine a better fourth episode.

Codemasters has succeeded in the difficult task to bring back to life a famous IP, looking forward to a multiplatform future, which has just started. If you are among those people from the 'old school', feel free to add half point to the final mark. If you aren't, and are looking for an easy game, just do the opposite and look for another game.

Middle Earth Shadow of War is an impressive action game, with solid graphics and smooth gameplay. Nemesys System works very well, but it’s not capable randomizing the fortress and the world. Missions too are too similar, but Monolith has built a solid and fun experience.

The karma system adds replayability value with many hours of new content. inFAMOUS: Second Son is a solid game with awesome graphics, poor AI and a good gameplay. If you have a PS4 you should buy it with no regrets.

First Strike is a nice map pack with a lot of variety. Treyarch did a great job with the level design, offering different settings with this valuable downloadable content. Anyway, 1200 MP are too much for a single map pack.

The violent and oppressive far future of Warhammer 40k has been beautifully recreated in Chaos Gate Demonhunters. The XCOMesque style of game play, both for the missions gameplay and for the base management, fits perfectly with the theme and the lore of this franchise.
