It's charming, mind you, but it still boggles my mind how Yasuhiro Wada, the mind behind the brilliant Harvest Moon, managed to make this boring a game.

Don't expect wonders, but, by all means, do expect a great deal of polish and quite a few entertaining evenings of truly thundering shooter action that harkens back to the olden days.

On the track, it shines with its charms and its finely tuned balance between diligence, precision driving and luck.

It might be lacking in structure and its online systems seem ancient. As a golf game, though, Mario Golf World Tour is solid beyond any doubt. Its inner mechanics just are some of the best in the genre.

I can't think of too much reasons to honestly recommend Starlight Inception. That's a shame because Starlight Inception really had some interesting ideas going for it.

Fract OSC works just as well as a strict puzzle game than it does as an audiovisual experience. And if you're not interested in these aspects, you will appreciate the freedom and clever structure.

If you haven't played the original back in the day, this will probably look trashy to you. The story oftentimes borders on nonsense and the puzzles regularly are uninspired. But that's not what this is about. This is about once again seeing the world through Tex Murphy's eyes. And that's as much a privilege today as it was back in the olden times.

Between the ever present shortcomings in the fighting system, the increasingly dull environments and story and the resulting frustration there is something just tolerable in here – that is, as long as you really don't have anything else to play.

It's all terribly tense and perfectly entertaining until you're two thirds through. At that point, unfortunately, a routine kicks in that you hadn't quite expected from this type of procedurally generated sandbox.

More of this quality can't be a bad thing, even though you're not as panicked anymore as you were when the main game came around.

The Extended Edition doesn't quite deliver on its potential. Still, it's a good chance to experience this classic if you didn't get to play it when it originally came out.

It's not quite what Kirby deserved. But Triple Deluxe is still well worth the two or three carelessly entertained afternoons between feathery clouds and cotton candy.

To be fair, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 nails the web-slinging. But everything else just reeks of a hastily cobbled together licensed game, the kind you had hoped the new consoles wouldn't have to put up with for a while.

You're way better off playing Penumbra, Amnesia or Outlast. And when you're through with those, I still could name a slew of other horror games way better than this dull hunt for objects in confusing corridors.

If you pass on this one, you're not missing all that much, least of all new ideas for this series to follow up on in the future. Still, credit where credit is due: this well-written additional episode would have been a clear standout in last year's Batman game.

It's just so charmingly old-fashioned that you cannot really fault it for its slight problems.

I never would have thought I'd say this about a video game, but Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is just absolutely sickening.

The interesting and well-animated short films on the disc don't do enough to repair the damage the poor game has done or make this package as a whole a worthwhile investment.

Even though the project as a whole still feels uneven, the strong puzzles in Broken Swords' final chapter right some of the first part's wrongs.

It might not quite be the new classic some might have hoped for, but it's a very entertaining and intimate proof that Ubisoft isn't all about throwing hundreds of people onto any given problem. They actually know very well how and when to pick just the right guys and gals for a job.

Until the next real FIFA, this is a well-playing stop-gap that will firmly hold your attention in the run-up to - and for the duration of - the World Cup.

The story is cleverly constructed, similarities between protagonist Malachi and Gabriel Knight abound. But herein lies the problem: In comparing itself to the classic, the difference in quality becomes all the more apparent.

Playing this with a friend, you might get a solid evening's enjoyment out of JoJo's ludicrous special moves. But that's about it. As a fighting game, this doesn't present any contest to any of the established competitors.

You'll get everything the fantastic console version had: a feeling of insecurity, respect for the apparently insurmountable, an unparalleled combat system. A nigh on perfect game.

A few more months in development might have made a considerable difference. Still, this will probably make quite a splash when it arrives on consoles. On PC, though, TESO doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the competition.

Age of Wonders 3 knows the ropes, so much is clear. But as soon as you get a grip on the clever AI, you'll notice this game might be looking in Civilization's direction – much too often for me to believe that's not what it wants to be – but it never really reaches those heights.

This is by no means a bad game, quite the contrary. When it comes to movie tie-ins, The LEGO Movie Videogame is one of the better ones. Compared to other recent LEGO games, though, it still feels like a considerable step back.

This has 'future' written all over it, but I don't really feel a substantial change. Sure, more Trials is always reason to celebrate, its base gameplay and level design are too fantastic not to. In the end, this feels like a really good update.

Monument Valley is beautiful game. Stylistically, it might not be all that unique, it's inspirations not all that fresh – Escher's been dead for over 40 years. But that doesn't change the fact that this little gem is a relaxing stimulation of the senses.
