Wolfenstein: The New Order doesn’t reinvent the franchise or give us anything particularly innovative. Yet what it does do is excel at giving us a deep shooter experience unlike we have seen on the Xbox One to date. This visually remarkable game features memorable characters, a terrific soundtrack and frantically entertaining gameplay. Wolfenstein: The New Order is hard to put down and for good reason – it simply kicks ass.

The intriguing setting and well-crafted story completely drew me into the game, and I enjoyed facing off against the secret weapons brought to life by the diabolical minds of Nazi scientists like robotic dogs, towering walkers, and cyborg mechs.

Ultimately you have to scrape to find a substantive problem with Wolfenstein: The New Order. If you mandate profound innovation in the games you play, it’s possible that New Order may be too traditional for your tastes. Regardless, it’s a well-made, extremely create, and fun ass game. If you want to sit down and just have fun, you can’t ask for more than that.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a positive step forward for the series after the last dud. Machine Games presents a competent shooter with more polish and a better array of characters, but ultimately the game feels more comfortable recompiling established conventions than it does striving for innovation.

It tries to create stakes that go beyond the basic scope of "kill those bad guys because they're bad," and even when it fails to completely take advantage of those stakes, there's still enough excitement, enough intrigue, enough humanity in its story to keep you interested. Even if its ideas only scratch the surface of something deeper, Wolfenstein: The New Order still delivers an experience well worth your time.

A solid FPS which manages to combine its classic roots with some modern elements, offering us good action variety and some outstanding characters. It could have done better with a deeper plot and some climatic exploration sections, but it won't disappoint once you put the first, boring, couple of hours behind you.

It's built on an impressive world but it doesn't do enough with it, and as a result it's curious, but hardly compelling.

This game was good. Was it next gen? No. Was it fun? Yes!!! It capitalized on game play and if your a fan of first person shooters at all.... You will enjoy this game. Even on normal setting this game was Challenging. It did tend to have its "slow moments" but those were easily overshadowed by its intense shooting/dodging periods. Story was OK not great. Action was amazing. Boss battles were Huge and EPIC ... The kind of situations it presented made you think... Lots of deaths... ... Negative side it was not that visually impressive and sound was poor at times. . This is probably the best Xbox one game out right now. That's not saying much but take it for what it's worthOverall I would really rate this 8.0. Worth the rent that's for sure. Expand

Pure unadulterated fun without the forced multiplayer which no on will play anyways. The graphics is not 2014 gen since it uses the gool ol Rage engine but it still holds up in this era.

The maps are expansive and not claustrophobic like the on-rail shooters (BF,COD) muricans love so much. The violence and gore is spot, the action and gunplay is intense and Boss battles are long, challenging and sometimes with Dark Souls level of difficulty. This game is a gift for gamers who grew up playing Wolf 3D,and not for 12 yr old COD fan-boys..

If someone asks for a good example of FPS in current generation, Wolfenstein TNO will be the first thing that comes to mind. I would give it a 8/10 but seeing how shallow FPS games have been in the past 3-4 years(excluding Halo and Resistance series), i'll give it a 10/10

One of the biggest license of gaming (and the oldest, I think it's interesting to say it) is back and it will definitely convince you that solo games are still fun to play nowdays.

It is based on id Tech 5 Engine (the same one as RAGE), and it is doing great. Textures are neat, lightning is good, and it is incredibly smooth. It has a metallic environment and a dark atmosphere, and both really create a true tension. Model and level design are very interesting, since they really give life to the fiction.

The soundtrack is fine too, very appropriate. They give a true sense of power to the weapons; and musics are accompanying the action well, but somewhat discrete. Voice acting is brilliant.

Now for the gameplay, it is marvellous. You have a full control over your character, thanks to lying down and leaning options. And the possibility to dual-wield every weapon brings a whole lot of fun. And the best part is that you can go all guns blazing like a walking tank; or you can chose the shadow way, and going stealth all the way. The commanders can call for reinforcements in case of alert, and this really deserves the gameplay, strategizing it a lot, and I must not forget to mention the huge diversity of enemies. However, even on its hardest difficulty level, the AI somewhat fails sometimes (but very little). The choice you are given to make in the very first chapter, is minor, but it is interesting to see how the designers created every level, giving you different progress opportunities depending on that choice. Its replay value is huge.

But where my heart found its pleasure, is in the fan service. True Wolfenstein fans will find a lot of easter eggs, in reference to the past episodes. And the different cliches are really enjoyable and very well implemented.

This game is one of the best you can find, if you are looking for a strong solo experience. And the history this licence carries, with its one of a kind feel in atmosphere and gameplay will keep you entertained for long long hours.

As a shooter, it's straight to the point and allows for different combat tactics, be it ambush, stealth or plain demolition. It's not stupid: often you need to plan your actions, so the game might frustrate you if you're in to vent your emotions after a long day. Sometimes the combat process also seems kinda repetitive but various plot settings come to rescue. The controls often get in the way but it might well be my problem as a long-time PC gamer.

The vibe of the alternative history year 1960 is quite realistic. You'll find yourself reading the wall posters and watching the details. You'll even have some creepy fun seeing a full-blown fake German record label with familiar tunes in the year 1960 gone awry (for instance, Die Käfer with their album Das Blaue U-Boot which is a reference to The Beatles' Yellow Submarine). The game is sarcastic and self-aware: there's a built-in original 2D Wolfenstein you can access some time into the game.

The plot is rather fascinating, although sometimes seems like a stretch. You're tasked to do whatever is necessary while other characters usually give you orders.

Also, the Xbox One version is remarkably stable. I only had a couple of occastions when an NPC would jump in one place or someone's rifle would get stuck in a wall. This is a rare sight nowadays.

TheI have been playing first person shooters ever since I bought my first video game console and I have never had a worse gaming experience. The story feels bland, the gameplay is generic and repetitive, and the player movement feels clunky and awkward. I gave this game a 0 because the ratings are way too high for this game and do not reflect how this game really is in any way, shape or form. I would not buy this game even though at this time its 20 bucks. Not worth the money, buy something else, anything. Expand
