For those intimidated by the complexity of RTS games, 8-Bit Armies is a great place to start.

Far Harbor bears so many of the same problems of Fallout 4 base game that more often than not, I was having a bad time.

I mostly enjoyed my time with Overwatch as it is very easy to pick up and play. The characters are diverse and just as colourful as the levels where battles take place. As a free-to-play title, I’d have no problems with the grinding and micro-transactions, but these mechanics in a feature-lite, full priced title, mar the overall experience for me. Maybe you’re okay with that, but I’m not. No matter how many games do it, I’ll never be okay with it.

Stellaris captures the craziness and fun of sci-fi in an engaging, infinitely replayable strategy game.

Most often you'll feel, at best, looming dread or smug satisfaction and only rarely shock or triumph.

StarBreak is a free-to-play videogame that anyone’s machine can run, but a lack of substance and mundane gameplay make it feel like a waste of time.

Fans of Total War and Warhammer can now rejoice and form a pact as this is a game that blends the two franchises together beautifully.

Beneath Battle Worlds: Kronos' archaic veneer is a strangely satisfying strategy game. Just make sure you’re the right candidate for the job before buying in.

A novel aesthetic and solid core gameplay go to waste in Capsule Force, thanks to a woeful lack of content and no online functionality.

Welkin Road is puzzling, yet thrilling, blend of precision platforming and puzzle-solving that overcomes a few mechanical hiccups to be an overall rewarding title.

Doom reminded me that games used to just be fun. It’s an polished and incredibly enjoyable game that blends old-school sensibilities with new-school quality. I appreciate a steak, but every now and again, all I want is a delicious, greasy burger. Doom is that burger.

Currently the best multiplayer experience on the Oculus Rift, if only the servers were more populated due to the bungled launch of the Rift. Easily recommendable once more people have headsets if you've got a hankering for space dogfighting.

Langrisser Re:Incarnation –Tensei- clearly wants to ape Fire Emblem’s newfound success, and while it sometimes falls flat on its face, it’s still a deep, engaging strategy game with enough there for genre fans to dig into.

A lack of a total visual overall barely detracts from the fact that Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is a total bargain, and the definitive version of the best in strategy.

I thoroughly enjoyed Space Food Truck, and not exactly for the reasons I thought I would. It’s a challenging and engaging card game, set in a fascinating and fun universe. It’s a real gem that only a better tutorial, and elements that make the cooking part of this game easier, could improve. Now if someone could make a space food truckin’ game like No Man’s Sky, I would give them all my money.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be regarded in the same light as Ocarina of Time and Grand Theft Auto III as a game that pushed the industry to new heights we’ve never seen before.

Glaring and recurring technical flaws aside, the game goes back to its roots in both story and gameplay, and will certainly help fans wash the bad taste of Dark Souls II out of their mouths. I can’t wait to see what From has in store for Dark Souls 4.

Armada is tactical, unforgiving and at times difficult, but incredibly fun and gives a great feeling of victory when things go your way. It's a side of 40K that I don't see explored that often, and it does so in an incredibly astonishing way.
