I love quick little games, and Dice Mage falls into that category nicely. The vintage graphics look great, the music is quirky and catchy, controls are simple enough, and the gameplay is fun, despite the heavy reliance on luck. I recommend checking this one out if you love mobile RPGs and like to roll the dice.

While I’m not a huge horror movie fanatic, the game is still incredibly enjoyable. I love the graphics, the music is amazing, the dialogue for kill scenes is hilarious, the Gorepacks are fun to watch, and the puzzles themselves are challenging. The best thing about the game is the fact that there are no in-app purchases, so even though getting all killers and Gorepacks is expensive, it’s great that you can’t just buy your coins to get them before other people. It keeps players coming back for more gory horror movie fun while earning coins to get optional collectible content. And while I prefer to keep the game in R-mode, it’s nice that they included a less bloody PG-mode to keep even the squeamish satisfied.

While I'm not usually a fan of free-to-play RPGs, I think Sdorica is one of the exceptions. Rayark did a fantastic job with this one, from the visual art style and sound to the interesting battle mechanic and tons of content for free, no strings attached. They also give you a ton of goals to complete for free premium currency, so the in-app purchases for more are more like a way to say thanks to the developers for making such a good game.

When I first saw Linelight at GDC, I was intrigued. The moment I picked up the controller and played it, I fell in love. Now that it’s on iOS, I am in love yet again. The game is pretty much perfect with the exquisite design, calming music, and the controls work out nicely. I was a bit worried about how the control scheme would translate to mobile, but it just feels natural. The puzzles are fun, addictive, and more challenging as you advance. There is a ton of content and replay value, so you are getting your money’s worth here.

Alto's Odyssey is an improvement on an already great, classic iOS game. I never thought that you could improve on perfection, but Team Alto has done it. The graphics in Odyssey look even better than the first, and those were already great. The music is soothing and immersive, the new mechanics just add another layer of depth to everything, and there's high replay value. I mean, honestly, what more do you want? Plus, it's a premium game with zero in-app purchases, which is a rarity these days.

Overall, PAKO 2 is an incredible followup to an already great game. PAKO 2 also has even more polished graphics that are hard to not love, great music and sound, and simple yet effective controls. The new areas are packed with detail and are huge, so there's plenty of room, and the amount of cars you can get are crazy. This is definitely one that you'll be replaying over and over until you have them all.

Overall, Campfire Cooking is one of the best puzzle games you can get for your iOS device. The game looks gorgeous, and the sound mimics the camping experience. The controls are easy to learn and optimized for touch screens, so there's no issues there. The puzzles have a nice complexity to them, ranging from easy to tricky, but once you figure out a puzzle you've been stuck on, it's incredibly satisfying. Missile Cards is a fun and interesting hybrid game that I’ve been looking forward to for a while. As a fan of pixelated aesthetics, the graphics bring a sense of nostalgia for me, and the chiptunes are wonderful. Controls are easy, since all you do is tap and drag cards around into their proper slots, and the gameplay mechanic is challenging, fun, and rather addictive once you get the hang of things. The missions that you must complete give you a goal to strive for, as well as high score chasing. If you like mashup games, then Missile Cards is definitely one to have in your collection.

The game is packed with stunning visuals, and everything runs smoothly. The lack of music was a bit strange to me at first, but after reading the reason behind it, I completely understand. The lack of a soundtrack only adds to the experience, oddly enough. Sound effects were spot on and immersive. Controls are easy to learn and feel natural on a touch screen. While I'm still fairly early on in Lichtspeer (it's pretty hard, alright), I'm enjoying it a lot and find it hard to put down once you get the hang of things. I've died plenty of times now, but if you pay attention to the attack patterns of the waves, you'll notice when and who you should strike first. It takes some time and practice, but it gets easier once you recognize the sequences. Plus the graphics are beautiful, the music and sound is quirky and delightful, and the controls feel natural. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a great mobile version of the popular simulation game. I was afraid that Nintendo may ruin Animal Crossing on iOS (Super Mario Run didn't do that great after the initial launch), but Pocket Camp is fantastic for what it is — a mobile version of a fun simulation game. As a big fan of Rauers’ other two card games, I am in love with what Miracle Merchant has to offer. The game shows off the distinctive visual style of the developer, and the sound design is well done. The tutorial explains all of the basics to you in a simple-to-understand manner, but the gameplay itself is challenging and requires some thought. There’s a ton of possible combinations of potions to discover and serve, and the goals keep everything fresh. I’ve just started playing Miracle Merchant since it was released last night, but I’m having a hard time putting it down. It’s just that good. The only thing that could improve this game is more levels in the future, so hopefully the developers have considered that. This is a game that I'm going to keep coming back to time and time again until it's finished.

Even though I was not too familiar with Skullgirls before this week, I think I’m now a fan. The artwork is downright amazing, and I love the voice acting for these lively characters. The music is also catchy and pleasant, and I’m not that big of a jazz fan to begin with. While I still prefer physical buttons for my fighting games, I think Skullgirls did well with the touch screen controls, because they’re not too bad and everything is responsive. The story is interesting and I like that there are multiple game modes so you can always find something entertaining if you need a break from a particular mode. While I don’t think I’ll be using the Fight Assist mode, it’s nice that the option is there for those who usually don’t play fighting games, which make this title truly a “fighting game for everyone.”

The visuals and soundtrack are definitely reminiscent of the old-school RPG days, and I absolutely love the Penny Arcade humor in the character dialogue. The only other complaint I have about it, besides the small joystick issue, is the fact that the text in dialogue boxes can be pretty small, considering how much space there is.

This is an entertaining arcade game that is similar to match-three puzzles, but mixes things up by making the colors constantly move. It also has elements of tap action arcade gaming, so fans of either genre can get into this app.

I am loving the charming and colorful visuals in the game, and the gameplay is simple enough for even the most casual gamer. But the best part of the game are the challenging puzzles that you will have to solve.

The graphics in this title are lovely and full of charm, the sound is done well, the randomized gameplay keeps things fresh and interesting on each run, and the challenging hack-n-slash style game mechanic mixed with match-three means a fresh and fun new take on a tried-and-true genre. There’s more strategy required for this game than some others, but the end results are so satisfying. Tavern Guardians is a title I’ll be coming back to over and over again in the near future, and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a challenging strategy match-three RPG game.

Players who like word games will enjoy the challenge of trying to create the most destructive path out of letters. However, it is not like Scrabble or Words with Friends. This game is less about creating words and more about the adventure of defeating enemies and unlocking treasures.

It did take me a while to figure out how to do anything in the start, but once everything clicked, it all felt super intuitive. My best recommendation is to just tap on anything that looks interesting and see what happens, then look at the bigger picture and put it all together. I don’t think the puzzles are too difficult either, as you can figure out what needs to be done after a few attempts, so this is a great puzzle adventure for all ages. The hand-drawn graphics are beautiful to behold, and when it’s combined with the ambiance of the music and sounds, it’s a surreal dreamscape that’s hard to escape from.

I kind of wish that the game provided some indicator on the screen to tell you where the next bubble is going to be, because I'm having a bit of a hard time finding it before being a snack for the zombies. But I suppose that this is the challenge that should appeal to many.
