Magnetic Baby is a fun, cute platformer. Admittedly, it lacks originality – borrowing heavily from Super Mario Galaxy, primarily. But despite this truth, it's still an entertaining and challenging platformer. And for 99 cents, it's definitely worth a go.

Occurro is not the most feature-packed dual-stick shooter, but what it does it does well enough. Don't expect the most in-depth experience, but a solid example of the genre.

Their game gets the basics of vertical platforming right and overall is a fun enough distraction as a short and unassuming climber. Hopefully the team's next game will reach even greater heights.

Matchlings just commits the sin of being the same as other games that have come before it.

It's going to sell to fans of the original, but if it comes down to what is the best Rube Goldberg puzzler on the App Store, this comes in a distant second.

Potential controversy aside, Slingshot Justice is a fairly entertaining little game. Again, it's not particularly deep or game-changing, but it's not trying to be.

If you think you're rather handy when it comes to Angry Birds, especially if you're an Aussie, then maybe Mogo the Monkey will offer a brief but welcome change of scenery from ornithological warfare with the potential to earn you some winnings. Otherwise, even at just 99 cents, iPhone gamers could do a lot better.

Setting up traps can get a bit tedious at times, but watching the bunny get flung, squashed, burned, and pummeled in different way is quite entertaining. Cartoon bunny lovers may want to pass on this one, though.

Solid edutainment. It's far more fun than any social studies class I ever took, that's for sure! This one's a good choice for the young, and the young at heart, so they can learn while they defeat evil aliens.

Ultimately, while this game might not do anything revolutionary for the twin-stick shooter genre it's an enjoyable way to spend some time wading through some undead carnage.

With over sixty levels spread across three areas (Deep Caverns, Lava Tunnels and Lunar Foundry), and fifty eight ship parts to collect, it should keep all but the most persistent players busy for a while.

The overall game play doesn't change or progress much from game to game. Mower Ride is fun, but really only makes the cut as a quick diversion.

While Feevo HD treads very familiar ground, it does so with style, offering up an addictive combination of its own. Gaining experience is simply the icing on the cake no doubt keeping players hooked for a long time to come.

Whether it was the very basic visual style or the fact that just playing a level twice can alleviate much of the need for any real skill, something didn't quite gel for me.

Play the originals instead of the versions of these games in Arcade Essentials. Many of them are available on iOS in either their original forms, or in superior independently-made facsimiles. This collection is a neat idea, but these games need to be more than just simple clones to be interesting.

Hills of Glory is great fun to play, and the special abilities of each soldier type are fun to use. The game's visuals aren't the shiniest you'll see but they get the job done and they bring a bit of character to the game.

This is about as simple as gaming gets, and about as addictive, but what Nuts! has in style it lacks in fresh challenges and varied scenery. No matter how high Jake climbs, the tree and danger zones don't vary.

The very thing that makes this an attractive title for gamers of all ages and backgrounds – its simplicity – is the same thing that will likely cause gamers to stop playing: it's a little too easy and mindless.

It's just that with a couple of updates it could probably be "great" instead of "okay." Still, retro-suckers such as myself probably won't regret spending the dollar, even if that update never comes.

The game does just about everything right. Great graphics, universal app support, online play, solid controls; this is Sega's best game so far on the App Store, and is well worth a pickup for fans of kart racers and Sega's characters.

VS. Racing is not an impressively realistic iOS racing game, but it is a fun racer, nonetheless. It's got a unique, functional control scheme – one that actually lends itself to creating a stand-out experience – and it visuals serve as nice eye candy. Not bad.

Powerslide Penguin does just what players would expect of Chillingo. It's simple but addictive and cute. For the asking price of 99c, it's an ideal game for those looking for a new hook during their daily commute.
