    If you're looking for a nice pick-up 'n' play game for your iPod, this is definitely it. Besides the small gripes with the weapon swiping, this game is one of my favourites.

    On one hand, it's got some really solid production values, increasingly frantic gameplay, and some really interesting RPG-like elements. That said, it's frustrating because it doesn't always feel like strategy is the focus, with button mashing being a more effective technique.

    The controls were very easy to use and pretty responsive. There is even a bit of a tilt element that comes in to play when using some weapons, as you can influence the direction of gunfire by tilting left or right.

    Hills of Glory: WWII extends the castle defense concept of Babel Rising and introduces new game depth through various unlockable hero characters. But it's a shame that you'll have to play a long time or use in-app purchases to access them.

    Hills of Glory is great fun to play, and the special abilities of each soldier type are fun to use. The game's visuals aren't the shiniest you'll see but they get the job done and they bring a bit of character to the game.

    Hills of Glory: WWII is an entertaining tower defence romp, but it's too difficult without IAPs and too easy with them.
