The sheer fact that spending money is at all tempting is a testament to Candy Crush Saga, however. It's a fun Match Three puzzler and refreshingly taxing at times.

This throwback title challenges players to dock or be destroyed.

Each of the seven different worlds is as creative as the last, and Boy Loves Girl is the ideal game to drop in on for short doses or extended sessions. It makes a pleasant change to play something so full of charm and originality.

This remix of fast-paced shoot 'em up Hypership Out of Control should satisfy new players, but those expecting a true sequel will be let down.

Rolando: Royal Edition is a faithful and loving remaster of a dearly beloved ten-year-old game, for better or for worse.

Nitpicks about the brevity and script aside, Infinite Universe is a welcome addition to Tin Man Games' portfolio. The change of theme is nice, and the new free-to-play model finally gives everyone a chance to see what all the fuss is about before parting with their finances. If the first chapter is any indication, it's going to be an adventure well worth taking.

It feels like this game could have had some wickedly difficult levels, ones that demanded repetition in order or beat even once. Instead, it's about repeating and mastering the mechanic itself. While the game is certainly a very fair value at $0.99 (the game is free to download, with the first 10 levels to try out), I'd love to see future updates with more levels to play to explore the concept more.

Ninja Warrior Temple is clever, but not nearly as nimble as a ninja should be.

Hatchi is a little piece of gaming history on our iPhones, and for the price of $0.99 it is one well worth looking into.

Since it doesn't actually cost anything, I'd say Shogun is certainly worth a download. Just don't be surprised when everything's been done in (probably) less than an hour or so. Whether or not the $1.99 for the remaining three levels is a justifiable expense will depend on the individual.

Tapping and swiping aerial attacks makes the game so much more than just tilting and dodging, while the persistent accrual of army points and upgrades gives that extra little bit of encouragement to play just one more game.

Scramblies is a good-looking, easy to play, and fun physics puzzler. The gameplay is enjoyable and offers a lot of different level with unique obstacles. The app is definitely worth its $0.99 price tag.

There are plenty of reasons to love this quirky little game, but getting faster times and more points will keep players slingshotting for every last diamond.

Spell Dash doesn't quite usurp SpellTower from its throne but it is a worthy alternative. One that proves fun in its own right. It's enjoyable to see high scores gained from one word, much like in Scrabble which will keep word fans keen to play for a while to come.

Legion of the Damned is one of the better iOS strategy games I've played, but the eight-turn limit is a deal-breaker.

It's just one of "those games" that kind of speaks to everyone. It could use a little refinement (I mean what game couldn't?), but it's definitely a fun little iOS distraction.

Of course Parallel Mafia is still a good way to kill time when it comes to location-based shenanigans. It might not be all that pretty or super-intuitive, but it's a great deal more personal (even a bit "tactile") than lots of other offerings in the genre right now.

Moovin Up is a challenging puzzle game with a humorous theme. But the controls add frustration to what could be a great puzzle experience.

It offers a fun twist on a well loved genre, and it's loaded with content. The game leans towards the strategy and puzzle categories, which might be a turn off for anyone seeking a more visceral experience, but players who don't have the patience or the skill required for aiming will love the easy access offered by Siege Hero.

This adventure game doesn’t do anything surprising or ambitious, but it is perfectly enjoyable nonetheless.

I think this is a very interesting start to a concept that if fleshed out more, could be incredibly engrossing. As of now, it's worth checking out if curious, but I think it's a few steps short of being great.

A solid game that never quite manages to justify its own existence. Anyone who checks it out will probably have a fun experience, there are just so many other games that offer that same experience.

Heartbeats is an intriguing indie visual puzzle game that's sure to keep you interested for its short length.

I did have a few problems with it but Symphony of Eternity is very much the kind of RPG that's far more impressive than it looks. Quirks aside it's nice to play an iOS RPG that does things a little differently. And it's even nicer to play one that manages the different so well.

Though underwhelming on the whole, Lomu Rugby Challenge has a few solid nuggets worth building on in the future.

It's possible to keep grinding and progress, but there is a certain amount of repetition here. The early moments of Total Recoil are the most entertaining with it tough to reach such heights the longer one plays it. There's fun to be had, but eventually, those challenges will begin to grate.

Off The Leash could have been much better. There are just so many questionable design decisions that let down the game's concept.

Catch the Candy has fun elements to it, but the awkwardness of the grappling hook mechanic with movement along flat ground and the lack of content makes it suffer a bit.

A walk down memory lane isn't foolproof for Dragon Quest III, but it has its merits.

This is another casual-focused collectible card game with role-playing elements, but it's a better version of one.

This arcade archery game offers up some casual fun, though some of its design cheapens the experience.

This brawler has a ton of neat stuff going on in it, but the combat leaves something to be desired.

The classic beat-em-up comes to iOS for the first time, but is hampered by control and difficulty issues.

Performing multiple tricks in the air, trying to top the Game Center leaderboards and working hard to make it past a checkpoint on a particularly difficult level are all elements that kept me from putting this game down.

Racing is fun and varied thanks to Touch Racing 2's different take on controlling things.

Those in-app purchases might prove a bit pesky, but Spellfall is a mostly fun Match-3 puzzle game.

Warlord Strike is a neat but flawed twist on MOBAs. Though it finds a lot of ways to solve the problem of controlling multiple heroes at once, it also gets a bit in its own way and creates new problems for itself. That said, it's still a pretty fun game. At the price of free, it's certainly worth checking out.

There are literally thousands of other App Store games that kill time about as well as Rubber Tacos does. On the bright side though, it's fun, it's free, it has personality, and it certainly could have been much worse.

Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition is an amazing new model for mobile ports that should get applied to more (and better) games.

I do recommend it despite having not really been a huge fan of it. If these kinds of brain-teasers, if the thought of unwrapping a tricky puzzle sounds delightful, then go for it! But if not, then I suggest moving on. It's a fine game, but one that never got its hooks in me.

Rocket Warrior is a fun game that is very similar game play to other games, but stands out for the content it includes. The controls take a little while to get used to, but the levels and many obstacles keep it interesting.

Major puzzle fans looking for something faster paced should give this one a try.

If you're a die hard fan of these types of games or in need of a new pick-up-and-play title, Crash Birds Islands may be just up your alley. However, other gamers may want to wait for an update to improve the game play experience.

While it has a neat idea or two in it, most of Little Briar Rose focuses on being simple and beautiful, just like a stained glass window.

All of these elements help make it shine, but I'd wait for an update before shelling out the cash for this two dollar title.

There are four different skaters, each of which is an animal. All of the racers look really weird. They are not drawn badly by any means, but the clothing and look of all the skaters is strange. For instance the rabbit is wearing pink-rimmed star glass and looks like it's sewn down the middle, and the octopus is wearing a boat anchor necklace.

Cute and charming, Kid Aviator is an Endless Flyer that lacks some much needed depth.

Sad that there aren't more old-school dungeon hack and painfully cute anime monster girl mash-ups? Well look no further than iQuibi's Dungeon and Girls.

When credits started rolling on The Little Acre, I felt quite ambivalent. The game is packed full of great ideas and characters, but a lot of them feel like they weren't given the proper room to breathe. In general, I'd prefer a game to be this way than overly long and artificially lengthened, but in the case of The Little Acre, its brevity keeps it from living up to its potential.

Yurei Ninja would be a fun endless runner, but its controls are too awkward.

Playing it safe, End of Aspiration might lack inspiration at times, but it's still a kind of comfort gaming for JRPG fans.

If it weren't for its pretty terrible free-to-play model, Overdox would be (and sometimes is!) one of the most thrilling battle royales out there.

Badly Drawn Movies is a very simple and fun movie guessing game. It has a humorous vibe to it and is dead simple to play. Any movie fanatic will enjoy it and it has enough movies so that most people will be able to guess many of them.

Floating castle defense.

If it weren't for the control issues, I'd think much more of Gravity Project. It's a cool idea and the levels are suitably intense and funky, but a game that requires split-second timing and fast reflexes needs to react much better (and much more consistently) than this.

Very little skill is required to get through Castlevania Puzzle, just a burning desire to level your character up and get more weapons. Honestly, if you took the Match 3 aspect out of the game and just turned the battles into a standard turn based RPG affair, or even just simulated it all with no graphics, I would be much happier.

The Inferno is a hellacious grind for sure, whose fun factor starts to slip as the levels get longer & more repetitive, and as you start to rack up an astronomical number of deaths. It will appeal to your sadistic streak, providing you have one.

I do think DWD has some cool ideas, and it’s definitely pretty, but it’s more than a little awkward to play. And it’s just not that much fun, honestly. It’s hard to care about stopping the Dark Servant’s armies when it feels like such a chore.

It would've been nice to see a Pokémon contender like Nexomon set out to fix some the series's problems (e.g. long grinding sessions, general slow pace, simplistic battles, etc.), but Nexomon instead opts to provide a very straightforward translation of Pokémon to the App Store. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is a little disappointing. All of that said, Nexomon is definitely your best bet for playing something like classic Pokémon on your phone. There may be other titles out there that try to do this same thing, but none pull it off quite as well as Nexomon.

A simple if tricky rogue-like, DUNGEONy is entertaining if a tad shallow.

It's certainly not bad and is worth a look from the curious, but it's also not exactly rocking the foundations of the App Store.
