    It seems Katy tries the same thing for years, even when everybody saw it won't fit. This album is actually better than Witness, but also sucks.

    The best album of the year! Highlight Cry about it later and champagne problems. Super intimate and touching lyrics, no doubt Katy is one of the best songwriters of her generation.
    The journey she spent battling depression brought a lot of baggage to a beautiful album. The fact that she is the executive producer alone still gives the music more power. I just loved it!

    SMILE is the perfect medium for Katy to be a messenger of love and light. The overall theme of the record is uplifting, resilience, gratitude, overcoming trials and tribulations. Katy sounds more mature than ever and the songs perfectly encapsulate the journey she has been theough these past three years.

    The teenage dream It was and is a work of art, prism is all that is good, witness is a deep breath that not everyone knew how to hear but smile, smile in my opinion is the best Katy Perry album, you can't skip songs and it makes you listen to it over and over again.     Smile and Daisies make sense inside the record, bad choices of singles. Once you get to champagne problems you know is your second favorite record from this queen    Just perfect.

    All songs have great potential to make pop hits. Of the songs we didn't know yet, I would like to highlight the guitar solo in cry about it later makes you want to go to a show and listen to this wonder live, champgne problems of the desire to go out dancing while having a refreshing drink and only love conveys an incredible peace

The production of the album is great, cry about it later is a collapse, the best of the album I would say, next to never really over, of course.     Katy Perry in her Renaissance Era. Foundations of the album are from strength to strength. Healing even in a spiritual sense. Perry is the definition of Pop Music. The length of the project is perfectly crafted. She found the light after the storm. Guess all she got is Champagne Problems now.

These lyrics may come from Perry's personal battles with the underperformance of her last album Witness (Which in my opinion is a great and misunderstood album). not only that but Perry also managed to deliver party anthems to celebrate those battles, with Smile, the title track, Champagne Problems and Tucked which all have 80s disco influence that might be perfect in the rise of those sound and genre. After all of the fun, here comes the love story. She started with the romantic Harleys In Hawaii that depicts her love story with beau Orlando Bloom followed with Only Love, a great song with a great message, telling people to leave all the hate and focus with taking the love only. She later finished the album strong with What Makes A Woman, a strong ballad for women and motherhood that beautifies the struggle of what does make to understand a woman. overall this album is a solid one and probably one of her greatest. I don't know why my fellow critics are giving it low score when this album has depth and cohesion.… Expand

    A Katy Perry dividiu seu novo álbum em 4 atos bem distintos e bem definidos pra mim. Terapia, Recuperação, Felicidade, Amor (Verdadeiro). é um álbum delicioso de se ouvir. Mas pesado em letras se vc se identificar demais com esses temas. É mesmo um álbum que mostra alguém que precisou sorrir por fora ao estar sofrendo por dentro. Quando se vê o álbum    Smile - A Jornada Para a Cura (?)

    A Katy Perry dividiu seu novo álbum em 4 atos bem distintos e bem definidos pra mim. Terapia, Recuperação, Felicidade, Amor (Verdadeiro).

    é um álbum delicioso de se ouvir. Mas pesado em letras se vc se identificar demais com esses temas. É mesmo um álbum que mostra alguém que precisou sorrir por fora ao estar sofrendo por dentro. Quando se vê o álbum nesses quatro atos, ele é consistente. Mas, ainda acho que faltou transições entre faixas. Só isso. Uma adição de transição entre os atos pra se tornar mais orgânico

    a mudança de temas das letras e de sonoridade. A voz e as camadas está lindas e por mais irônico que pareça, esse é finalmente o álbum "Dark" da peruca queimada que tanto pediram dela a carreira toda pra mim. Tá nas entrelinhas. Como se fosse uma conversa com violão na mão diante do espelho.

    Witness definitivamente tá tentando ser deixado pra trás eu acho (o registro pop mais injustiçado e subestimado em anos se pá pra mim). Smile me soa como um registro de um periodo de cura, de alguém com algum tipo de depressão/melancolia e seu reencontro de identidade artística. Ele soa como um experimento de sonoridade e imagem tbm. Pra ela testar o que o público mais se conecta (ponto de vista comercial) e ao mesmo tempo parece ser um registro despretensioso total apenas pq quer expor esse período vivido. Cada bloco é BEM diferente entre si. Tenho a teoria de que aquilo que vender melhor, será a aposta de seguimento pra um próximo álbum.

    Não há NADA em Smile que pareça querer brilhar. E não falo em tom pejorativo. Pelo contrário. É um álbum de uma artista que resolveu descansar do combate de números e holofotes e tá mais preocupada em cuidar da voz, testar facetas de si mesma e celebrar uma felicidade familiar. É perceptível que a Califórnia Girls cansou de se sustentar nas nuvens de algodão rosa, e decidiu por os pés no chão, sem holofotes fortes demais. Ela diz em uma das letras, que ela por hora, quer apenas aproveitar o caminho, e não mais competir correndo. Ou seja: que se ela precisar tocar sua música em botecos de madrugada, não há problemas mais agora. Ela não se importa, desde que o que estejam ouvindo, seja bom pra ela. Se brilhar, que bom. Se não, ela tá brilhando sozinho com ela e seus amores verdadeiros.

    Sorrindo e chorando ao mesmo tempo. É bem doido isso. Pq dá pra imaginar real em algumas músicas, ela com a mão na barriga sorrindo e chorando ao mesmo tempo em que canta. Isso é bonito.

    Amei.

    Minhas prediletas = todas. Real haha só a Target que não me desceu. Mas, se for pra hackear:

    This album contains everything that everyone loves in Katy Perry’s world. - Pop hits - Rock influences (electric guitar)
    - Trap similar to Dark Horse (« Not the end of the World »)
    - two ballads with judiciously picked lyrics All of this in a perfect, light ratio; fresher and more promising than her previous record « Witness » (which in my opinion had too many slow songs).

    It has nostalgic songs you will instantly want to sing along to («Never Really Over», «Resilient»), and several fresh anthems («Tucked», «Champagne problems »). Even the ballads are catchy, especially « Only love » which reminds me of one of her previous tracks, « Pendulum »).

    The ones I adored at first listen : «Cry about it later», « Resilient », «Not the end of the World»).

    Not only can you say that Katy Perry is BACK, but also that her record is even better than the two latest ones !!!
    The « There it is, Katheryn » at the end of the last song made me think « Yes, there is your best piece of work, Katy ».    … Expand

    Although the critics rated the album but only gave opinions of her in general, Katy showed us that she still has a lot to give us, Katy brings us a song that very few artists know how to do and she was like a glove, as well as the era. TD and PRISM, let's hope that the public will start to buy more of her music since she still needs to give more

    This is one of her best albums. The way she didn’t stay to her usuals music really makes you want to get up and dance. The music makes you want to smile when listening to any of the songs.

After being a katycat for around 7 years i can tell you that this album shows the real Katy Perry 100% and it me so happy to know that this is basically the era of happiness and smiles not only for Katy but probably because of this album to many fans.     Wonderful album where Perry takes advantage of all the perfection of his voice and his ability to compose. Bringing songs about healing, resilience, fun and love, Katy takes us to a much bigger concept than that of smiling, that of smiling always happy.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
