Gal is Wonder Woman. Pine has portrayed a likable Steve Trevor. The Supporting cast work in most.
A few problems could be pointed to weak CGI, Villain problems, and slow-mo actions.

Other than that, it's a step right in DC Films Direction. Hopefully Justice League, Aquaman, and Shazam will follow this movie's Success.

Now that I've seen it, I am convinced that half of the most vocal, they never did. I didn't detect a whiff of feminist agenda - this is just a heartfelt story. Wonder Woman is a superb film, regardless of whether or not you are into super heroes, and it manages to balance the character's origins beautifully with a modern reinterpretation. The script is excellent, the performances are top-notch, and it is a thrill to the end. I won't spoil anything, but I have to extend my gratitude to everyone involved in this production - very well done, folks. If this and the excellent 'Shazam!' are where DC is headed with its films, I am all in (and I say that having not cared much for their more recent Batman/Superman offerings). Seriously, this is probably the best thing that has ever been done with the Wonder Woman character, and if you have even a modicum of interest, you will be delighted. I am really looking forward to the sequel. Lastly, barring Endgame, Marvel of the past few years should be ashamed of themselves. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonder Woman is one of my top 5 favorite DC movies ever, one of my favorite superhero movies, and one of my favorite movies of all time. The acting performances were stupendous especially from Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Gal Gadot was terrific as Wonder Woman. The visual effects and action scenes were spectacular and awesome especially the battle in No Man's Land and the final battle between Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Sir Patrick Morgan/Ares. Patty Jenkins direction was excellent. The musical score/soundtrack was fantastic I especially loved Sia and Labrinth's song during the credits. The writing, story, and screenplay were amazing. A+. The film is a comic book on the big screen, with a very well written screenplay and a very attractive and full of action story. The cast is fantastic and Gal Gadot and Chris Pine show a wonderful chemistry with their never boring romance. The beauty of the charming Gal Gadot is exotic and sexy she really "steals the show" with her perfect performance. The top-notch special effects is state-of-art and impressive. The direction of Patty Jenkins surprises since this is her first blockbuster work. Expand

Wonder Woman rescued DC into the light and out of the grasp of the dreadfully overrated Dark Knight that was plunging the genre into darkness. Gal Gadot brings to life the charming, fierce, heroic, and ethically astute titular character to life with great charisma. This film offers all the colorful and emotionally rich action a comic book fan could hope for while bringing to the genre with the greatest amount of romantic depth that is sweet, funny, and offers a wonderful message to inspire the comic book genre for what a superhero film is meant to be. Through thematically rich material, Wonder Woman has risen above its genre by a landslide as not just the greatest comic book film of all time, but also the greatest action film of all time and is more than well deserving of my highest acclaim of a 10/10. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some dialogues make sense in this movie where we can find another version to the ending of World War one, even if a fantasy one.

Some other good points would be that I was surprised to see known actors in totally different roles, and despite some cultural clichés, it was pleasant to see how someone from an utopic society finds our misshaped world.

Years after seeing it for the first time, I didn't remember all the action, which at times was surprisingly well.

Wonder Woman Spoiler Free Review:
When Man of steel arrived I was one of the few who liked it. It wasn't the Superman I had expected but I saw it as a film that was showing us how he had become the Superman we all knew and loved. I saw it as a series of lessons from his personal loss to his loss of innocence that would mold him into the man who would fight for Truth and Justice. Sadly I was wrong, and we ended up getting Batman Vs Superman with an even darker Batman than ever. I thought, surely they couldn't get any worse and then there was Suicide Squad. With two solid misses and one half sucess, I was not at all interested in another dive into the fetid pool that is the DC Cinematic Universe. I had come to the view that DC/WB made great trailers and honestly should stick to the short form work. So, when the first Wonder Woman trailer dropped I was like, 'well that's a pretty trailer' and went about my merry way.
Tonight I had an opportunity to see the film at no cost to myself so I figured, ' It would at least be worth the price of admission, right?' Heck, they even paid for drinks and popcorn, what was there to lose?
Lets start From a film making perspective. The first two acts are nearly flawless. Everything from the character development to the pacing is strong and well planned. The third act, while good, has a bit of the Snyder pacing and over use of CG issues that could have been fixed easily with a bit of editing but if you've seen the other films you'll be happy to know this one is considerably toned down. (And, hint hint, this one has a much better climax. No one named Martha involved. ;) )
The story is the origin story (with a twist of course) of who and what Wonder Woman is. Is she a woman? Yes. Is she a warrior? Yes. But who is she, what is her purpose in life? And in that, what is ours?
Wonder Woman is at its core is a story of finding ones place in a world not your own. It's not the 'fish out of water' story but more of a story about determining who you want to be in life. Do you follow the crowd and just watch out for yourself or do you stand up for something?
After seeing this film, I would have not been disappointed had I paid to see it. In fact, I kinda wish I had.
4 out of 5 stars. Good film. Will probably buy.

All of the worries have subsided with Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins is able to succesful juggle different movie genres into one co herant and amazing film. Think part ancient greek epic, romantic comedy, action war movie but it all meshes very well.

Gal Gadot simply kicks ass. Her actions scenes were awesome, Chris Pine does good job of holding his own and not being reduced to a male damsel in distress. Wonder Woman fish out of water and being naive is very much in essence to the comics when she first encounters mans world. Seeing as the screenplay is written by Comic Book Writer who wrote Wonder Woman comics, the faithfulness to source material is evident. A great Super Hero movie that DC needed.

It serves as the DCEU's first critically successful entry, and for good reason. Princess Diana might not redefine how superhero films work, but it brings a great deal or heart and heroism to the table. Gal Gadot's performance has the right amount of hopefulness and naivety, while also being a total badass in the action scenes. Watching the character come to terms with the flawed nature of humanity is compelling. Director Patty Jenkin's depiction of WWI is fantastic.

Elements of the fantasy genre are noticeable throughout, particularly in the first portion of the film. The bright, colorful environments are gorgeous and a nice change of pace from the blacks and greys of the other DC films it shares a cinematic universe with. The lore provides an interesting take on Greek mythology. Seeing such an optimistic, selfless superhero isn't exactly something new, but lately when every other hero seems to be struggling with their morals and fighting each other, it's good to see this return to form. Especially since it's done so well.

After years of waiting, Wonder Woman has finally gotten her own film. One befitting of the character. Not only does she bring hope to those around her in the film, but she also uplifts DC comics fans by bringing them the first truly good movie in the DCEU. One that delivers in every way it needed to. 9.3/10

I only seemed to come on here and leave feedback on movies that pissed me off and took my money. So here I am trying to remedy that with what I thought was one of the best superhero movies ever presented on the big screen. The director Patty Jenkins deserves to take the DC Universe on her back and run with all future movies. She obviously has a flair for it. Only Thor:Ragnarok was more enjoyable this year, and that was because it was friggin funny and fun.

The telling of Wonder Woman was long overdue. She is a legend in the superhero world of comics and after seeing it she might be the greatest of them all. Gal Gadot is breathtakingly beautiful, but she has the acting chops and athleticism to play this role. I believe in her and Patty Jenkins got me to do so. Both ladies deserve awards of some kind, and I hope it is Oscars, but will gladly take anything they get from the fans who are the reason movies are made. If you have not seen any superhero movie yet for whatever reason you hold onto, please break that glass on your opinionated inner-self and go see this one. You will appreciate you did.

I understand if someone doesn't like this movie because they want a more campy version like Linda Carter's, so they give it a 7 or even a 6, though I stridently disagree, I understand not everyone wants the same thing from this movie. But the negative 0 and 1 reviews make no sense. I would suggest you take them with a grain of salt. They are suspicious. This movie cannot be argued by any means to have 'flat' acting etc. If I had to bet on it, I'd say those reviews are fakes inserted by someone with an ulterior motive.

Wonder Woman succeeds largely because of Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Gal Gadot is a rare actress in appearance and bearing. I can't think of anyone today who could pull off Wonder Woman, especially with such heart while always maintaining a regal quality. Toning down the color of the costume was a good idea. One problem contemporary super hero movies face is, how to make the film without it seeming silly by definition. The way Wonder Woman handles this is by darkening the red and blue of the costume, setting the tale in the grim environment of WW I, and having her co-star as skeptical of her Greek gods-based theory of the world as the audience. The setup, as you likely already know, is that an island of women (Amazons) whose purpose is to protect men from the god of war (something like that anyway) encounters Germans during WWI when an Allied spy (Chris Pine) crashes his plane just off their island and the Germans come looking for him in boats. The Amazons fight them off and Chris Pine tells the women that - outside of their island paradise - the entire world is at war. So Diana, Wonder Woman, goes off with him to London to help end the war. She thinks she can end it by killing the god of war, a single being. Chris Pine has a more modern idea, delivering the intelligence he stole from the Germans to HQ. The rest of the story is Diana's discovery of the world at large, the dirtiness and lack of honor of modern warfare, and the discovery of her own powers, as she and Chris Pine each seek slightly different things together, he to destroy a factory developing a newer deadlier type of mustard gas, and she to locate and kill the god of war.

For a super hero movie Wonder Woman has a surprising number of tear-jerker moments, largely due to the fact that the WWI horrors depicted have a basis in historical fact; it has touches of humor, too, but it could use a little more of that. If the movie has one more significant flaw it is that - at no point do we know the limits of Wonder Woman's powers. So we never know how much danger she is in. I know from the comics that she cannot fly. In fact, as a kid one reason I didn't read Wonder Woman much was because she had an invisible airplane, but while the airplane was invisible, she was not. So the comic was drawn to show her in a sitting position whizzing through the sky, which just looked stupid. There is no invisible airplane in this movie, for that I'm grateful. But my point is - she can't fly, at least not in the comics to my knowledge. And yet in this movie she gets blown up into the sky more than once and descends lightly and slowly, in control, almost as if she can fly. And she leaps so high and far, it's almost as if she can fly. So the question arises, how powerful is she? Can she fly in this movie version? Is she invulnerable? She certainly takes a lot of abuse, explosions and so on, and comes out without a scratch. This is important because a key plot element turns on a decision one character makes to save her life. But at that moment I was not certain at all that her life was in danger, that her life COULD be in danger ever. And so I didn't understand why this decision was made. It was actually about 10 minutes after I left the theater, pondering what I thought was a plot error, that I realized that the decision that was made was necessary in order to save her life but the filmmakers just did a bad job of letting us know what could kill her and what could not. Wonder Woman is about compassion at least as much as she is about power. That's one reason it has so many sad moments as Diana takes in just what this war is doing to people. In fact the ending, in a key way, is a lot like the end of Return of the Jedi (without Ewoks).

Because Wonder Woman 2 will take place in modern times, not WWI (Wonder Woman doesn't age or she ages slowly), Chris Pine won't be in it. If Gal Godot isn't given someone good to act opposite, that sequel could be in trouble. Wonder Woman is so much in earnest all the time, she really needs a co-star to lighten the mood. Ben Afleck's grim bad acting did her no favors in Batman v. Superman. So for the next WW film that's going to be an issue.

If the movie rights licensees of DC comics have any sense, they will get Ben Affleck out of the Batman suit and replace him.

The DCEU has been a hit and miss so far (Man of Steel was the only great one, BvS was good but had loads of issues and SS was quite bad). Luckily Wonder Woman isn't just good comic movie, it is one of the greats. It is a great origin story, the characters by themselves and with each other are believable and natural, the social commentary the film portrays applies magnificently to the world we live in now. The message the film shows is nothing short of outstanding, sometimes we need an Alien like mentality to truly understand the beauty and the evil of mankind, which Wonder Woman tells brilliantly.

The most commendable aspect of the film is its avoidance of obvious 'girl power'. The film easily could of gone down the route of bashing Men and praising Women but it didn't. They have empowered Wonder Woman without the need of constantly mentioning her gender. Either way this is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight, hopefully the Justice League can match the bar that WW has set.

NO MAN'S LAND was an amazing scene.

I was brought up in a society that valued me for my strength and confidence and ability to get stuff done. I just personally always felt there was something quite wrong with quite HOW I was treated in other ways and I wish I could have been raised on Themyscira, but I digress. Seeing how Diana learnt about our society and followed her heart and didn't let anything hold her back, that was pretty awesome. It is certainly a lot of female empowerment. A lot of the scenes in this, I could understand exactly how she felt and It was quite telling that this movie was directed by a woman. It was quite honestly the best superhero movie I've seen so far apart from maybe guardians of the galaxy. Expand

Who else but skillful actresses like Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright could make Amazons believable, and Gal Gadot is a great find – totally warm, appealing, and convincing as she matured in the film without being distractingly sexual, even in skimpy costumes. Chris Pine was also wonderful as were Danny Huston and David Thewlis. But the real credit must go to the director who kept things moving yet made an interesting film for many different audiences that had plenty of action and spectacle without being empty-hearted or empty-headed. Patty Jenkins’ direction was a real triumph, although not unexpected from the director of a great film like Monster that deservedly made Charlize Theron a star. Expand

I wrote this review in one of my blogs in June. I saw Wonder Woman Thursday night and I will start off by saying Warner Brothers pulled a rabbit out of the hat. The metaphor fits in more than one way. But in this case it is about going backI wrote this review in one of my blogs in June. I saw Wonder Woman Thursday night and I will start off by saying Warner Brothers pulled a rabbit out of the hat. The metaphor fits in more than one way. But in this case it is about going back to old school. Rabbit out of the Hat is a classic magic trick for the ages. This film may not quite be one for the ages, but it is done in classic style.

This movie did something that so many films today fail to do. They decided to go back to the timeless idea that a good movie should always tell us a good story. Storytelling is a lost art in Hollywood these days, what with all the explosions, fake blood, super aliens, and wise cracks, that allow a good movie to get away with a wobbly story. But a great movie can not be great without at least a solid B+ story.

Patty Jenkins gives us simple, but well thought out story and presents it with emotion, humor, superpowers, explosions, and of course bloodthirsty Germans, gotta have that right? Wonder Woman doesn’t try too hard to be all things, like Batman v Superman did. We all know how well that worked out. No, Warner Brothers went to the age-old well of storytelling that all of us have always enjoyed dating back to our earliest memories. “Hey Grandpa, tell me story about the olden days…”

And so they did. They went back a hundred years so grandpa had to tell a story that his grandma told him, methinks. This did not need to be a super hero movie featuring one of the greatest of all comic book characters to be good. The story was good. This is a period piece and WB did an excellent job of immersing us in the WWI era. Industrial Age London comes alive with reasonable period costumes and all the modern trickery that made the city of London look like that smelly, smokey **** hole it was in 1917.

The story they give us, was well done, not fantastic, not the greatest ever told, but a solid well spun tale. While telling us a story about the malleable soul of man and the nature of what we are, we also get a story about a great war with a decent bit of historical value, and a diabolical plot by a powerful antagonist. We get a nice twist in the story and a villain we don’t expect. We get some superhero kick ass, we get a little Shakespearian drama, we get a fair amount of funny, and Patty Jenkins pulls off making Wonder Woman look so epic all the time. Just standing there she looks like a boss.

This was a really great story. I am not certain why they went to WWI instead of WWII but that’s OK because I was getting a little tired of all the Nazis over there in the Marvel Universe. A little classic ‘Kaiser’ was a nice change of villainous scenery.

As I predicted in the last article, Ms. Gadot delivers. She has it all, the class, the grace, the style, and when needed the ultimate bad ass complete with a full shot of intense. She is regal and she is a frickin’ boss on the battlefield. What the hell more do we need than that?

Chris Pine continues to impress me. He plays the same character in this film as he does in Star Trek and he even has the same rank. But he gives us a fine performance as the mortal hero to contrast our demigod title character.

At the end of the film I did feel they made her just a tick too powerful. My beef with Superman has always been that he is basically God and of course they created Kryptonite to give him a weakness. Diana gets a little too close to the Kryptonians on the power meter, but that is a minor issue that is quite forgivable.

I would ask you to sit through the entirety of the movies long credit roll so you can see the epic Bruce Wayne after credit scene, but there isn’t one so stay if you want. If the 42oz soda is calling you to the restroom, it’s safe to go, I stayed and there was no after credit scene.

My friends this film isn’t the best superhero movie, but what I really like about it is the storytelling; this is great storytelling. The movie had some holes and they probably left some stuff on the cutting room floor that should have been left in. With a 2:21 running time though, I understand the cuts. We are left with a nice clean origin story in a historical context, and all the great superhero stuff needed for a great superhero movie.

This is the best DC movie ever made not featuring the Bat. DC is back and they mean business. Sure, there are many little gripes I could write about, but I won’t, because I left the theater with a buzz like I did when I was ten years old and grandma spun a wild yarn about the olden days. Hollywood needs to give us a lot more movies like this.

(dedicated to my paternal grandmother who did indeed spin wild yarns of yesteryear to a wide-eyed little grandson and later on a young adult grandson. Esther Sager – 1897-1992)

Less bleak and way more fun and entertaining than Batman vs Superman. Gal Gadot is phenomenal throughout and has great chemistry with Chris Pine. Pine is also probably at his best with a sharp wit and charm.
The villains do feel like they could also work in a Captain America movie. Danny Huston and Elena Anaya give chilling performances nevertheless.
The big battle in the end between good and evil is just a little goofy. Gadot owns every scene though, even that one. Her lasso of truth would come off worse on the big screen. If everything she didn't either come off bad ass or humorous even. She could probably even pull off the invisible jet.
While Hans Zimmer may not do the score. His kick ass Wonder Woman theme from Batman vs Superman returns. Which was probably the best thing to come from that movie. That score goes with the character extremely well.
After the movie my niece said "that might be even better than any Marvel film!" As a fan of Marvel as well, I have to agree. Wonder Woman was amazing.

Wonder Woman is captivatingly funny, astonishingly beautiful, wonderfully immersive, magically empowering, and charismatically spectacular to watch. This is the first superhero film directed by a woman and even starred a woman on the big screen. The woman that directed Wonder Woman knows how to make this movie very entertaining and more thought-provoking like no other. The action sequences, performances, and special effects were very well executed after seeing this film. She made this movie very organic that pays a homage to Richard Donner's Superman movies and it has the same exact feel as you watch Wonder Woman in action. It is easy to say that Wonder Woman is a MUST WATCH if you're looking for a good movie to watch with your sidekick or family member to have a wonderful time seeing Wonder Woman. I'm hopeful that there's a sequel in the works to see what Diana Prince is up to before or after the events of Justice League. Overall, this movie is wonderfully enjoyable and it's really hopeful that you watch it. Expand

She comes across a pilot named Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) as she has never seen a man before, and the two decide how to stick together. We spend most of the movie in London, during the war, as Steve tries to teach Diana how to fit in to the world, especially during the war, as Diana needs to understand human values in order to fit in. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine are fantastic leads for this movie and they share terrific chemistry. What makes 'Wonder Woman' work better than the three previous DCEU films is that it doesn't rely on fan-service moments, nor does it rely on referencing other DCEU films both previous and upcoming which means it's able to stand on its own, and the movie flows so well, it's just a well-made movie. Not just for comic book enthusiasts, which is why 'Logan' (2017) worked so well. 'Wonder Woman' is one of the best comic book movies out there, it's well-made, well-acted and thoroughly entertaining. Not to mention that this movie showcases the horrors of war, which is something that 'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011) didn't do, though it did reference the horrors in later MCU films. All in all, 'Wonder Woman' is a worthy addition to the DCEU canon, and serves as a worthy competitor to the MCU franchise (which is still yet to make a generally bad movie according to critics). If you haven't seen 'Wonder Woman', and want a win for DC, this really is the movie for you. Go see it. Expand

WW didn't have as much personality as Reeve's character, but similar innocence and selfless bravery. A really beautiful movie. Without spoiling anything, there's a scene where WW draws the gunfire to herself and I'm not sure why, but I had tears streaming down my face! It was just so brave and selfless (there was probably a powerful score at that moment too). My one complaint was the ending. A little too much on a couple levels, but not enough to change my high opinion of the movie. Would seem wise for future DC movies to bring key decision makers from this film onboard to advise so as to hopefully avoid the trend of emotionally dead films DC has been making. Expand

Finally, an excellent film for the DC universe that holds her own against others in the genre. This is a thoroughly enjoyable experience, with dynamic cinematography, solid pacing, delightful script, and engaging storyline, I was utterly charmed by this film which I had serious doubts about. Gadot is superb, and while she isn't quite the Amazonian I'd always pictured, her performance is exceptional, with the rest of the cast providing polished support. The action sequences are magnificent, though I wanted to be able to see more, and some moments are too frenetic to follow, which is occasionally frustrating. I particularly enjoyed the delicate balance between objectification and celebration that could have marred this film, and I was thoroughly impressed by the deft handling of what could have been an exercise in the male gaze, and instead revels in introducing the genesis story of a fiercely intelligent, powerful, awesome superhero. 9.01/10 Expand

"I am Diana of Themyscira, daughter of Hippolyta, and your wrath upon this world is over"

Lynda Carter got, not only the sex symbol label in the seventies at the expense of her courageous performance over three seasons in the DC Comics TV series, she also was proud of embodying for the very first time a strong, intelligent, charismatic and comprehensive woman both on the small screen, in the comic universe of superheroes and in that misogynist society of which we have not been getting away yet. However, like everything in this earthly life, the exuberant actress had to say goodbye to her time of victory, leaving as a reminder an unblemished legacy, inherent nostalgia emerging from this character and seven decades of vignettes that made the delights of comic lovers of yesteryear. However, the social, political and cultural phenomenon threatens to come out again thanks to the triumph of a war/comic/superhero/dramatic/romantic—and before all these banal classifications—inspirational and transcendent production, which was conceived by director Patty Jenkins next to new and perfect Wonder Woman actress, Gal Gadot, of course, with the extensive assistance of a unisex crew, captained economically, by American monster film production company Warner Bros.

As a general rule, each released movie must follow, at least, a specific storyline in connection with the universe that the studio wishes to put together, such as its counterpart Marvel Studios, because of which, the events are placed just after the ending of "Batman V Superman", with a seasoned and circumspect Diana Prince receiving a package, which motivates the corresponding presentation of her origins, using as a narrative conductor a shabby photograph taken on her first vacation to the harsh, fierce and paradoxically inhumane real world: the World War I. However, the film slides much further back, promptly to Themyscira, Diana's origin land and an idyllic Greek kingdom where the most powerful, clever and complete females reside, thanks to work and grace of Zeus in order to inspire peace and union in a world tamed by Ares brutality, the main rival of both the father of the gods and the Amazon warriors, a tribe led by overprotective Queen Hippolyta and her sister, General Antiope. The hurdle that, sooner or later, they had to face will come after Steve Trevor, pilot and spy of the United States Army, who accidentally falls into the ocean of the island with a bundle of horrid realities under his arms, forcing the predicted awakening of Wonder Woman.

It was neither for lack of intent nor because of scarcity of support and execution sources, it was by a shortage of professionalism that the superheroines world had not had the succor that male heroes possess today. However, the American huge studios — so similar but so dissimilar — have taken matters into their own hands, either by the unfading desire of fans or by the boom around the absolute abolition of misogyny in the different human fields. Warner Brothers Pictures was the one which took the initiative several years ago, using Zack Snyder as casting director to finally select Gal Gadot, the Wonder Woman from cover to cover by reason of her acting skills and dominant emotional strength as she pops on the screen. While the company was recovering from the colossal setback that meant the inaugural stage of its cinematic universe at the hands of "Man of Steel" (2013), "BvS" (2016) and "Suicide Squad" (2016); the high members deliberated what would be the course that the mega project should take, since although all previous movies had a lucky reception at the box office, they don't convince any one within critics circle. Then, the next step fell into the hands of Jenkins, a director whose experience was strictly based on the small screen and her prestigious directorial debut: "Monster". The writers' and the filmmaker's ambitions to bring back "WW" were so fervent, fascinating and prevailing that the company gave a vote of confidence for an Amazon princess with a nuance much more from Marvel, she is who lifted that vile shade flying over DC, once and for all. And what a success! Sequences as the ascension of the walls of a high tower, the sublime struggle in the arenas of Themyscira, the combat in the village against the German officers or the self-same Zeus or her already classic allegorical scene in which she arises among bullets and explosions, encouraged by the masterful composition of Hans Zimmer; A portentous setting, cinematography and photography that remind the work of "Fantastic Beasts"; first-grade special effects that, although on several occasions are perceptible and somewhat ineffective, draw each of the locations and struggles with an enviable sophistication, a story brimming with love and bravery — thanking a fascinating twist —; high octane performances and a direction teaching in each frame, all that make "Wonder Woman" a wonderful and, for someones, painful triumph.

Training montage, death of a close person to the protagonist, the usual "join me, humans are not equal to us", and even some actual humors (No, there was absolutely no real humor in the previous 3 DCEU movies)!

But boy did it work so well! The villain and the sidekicks might be a bit forgettable, but this movie will be the one remembered for the one that probably single-handedly changed general public's perception of DCEU. After the just OK Man of Steel and the less-than-mediocre duo of BvS and Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman is the one that we sorely needed.

If you are interested in an entertaining plot and story line, this movie is definitely for you. The story moves quickly and some funny dialogs, until the last 45 minutes. I guess all superhero movies end almost the same way these days. But if this one did not, it would get a 10 instead of a 9. There is a little more than partial male nudity in one of the scenes, if you are sensitive about that sort of thing. The end was kind of predictable, and the it seemed intentional. But it is forgivable for a superhero movie. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you collected "funny" (comic) books as a kid, you will like this film. The transfer ,or adaptation , of the comic Wonder Woman is excellent. The casting is spot on. Chris Pine is great as the "romantic" lead and Gal Gadot is a "find". They have good chemistry. She has a beautiful face, screen charisma and will be a movie star for years to come. A wonderful Wonder Woman. For those that find fault with the feminist approach, get over it ! She is a feminine super hero so it gets told from her perspective. Right up alongside the original Iron Man as the best movie based on a DC comic super hero Expand

It surpassed my expectations even with all the acclaim prior to seeing it. The cinematography was incredibly crisp, just absolutely sublime and what I took most away from the film was that none of it was overblown. No ridiculous demands, no Deus Ex Machina garbage, having a very honest narrative can do wonders nowadays.

Gal Gadot was a superb cast as Wonder Woman. She delivered a character with a cute, dainty foreign sense of naivety infused with insane unbridled power. Of course she refined it as the film progressed but in concept it highlights how simplicity, when done right in a compelling manner with the honest narrative I touched on earlier, can unravel glorious qualities that far exceed its initial impression. It's unconventional and I love it. The rest of the cast also played their part extremely well, Chris Pine did an excellent job.

I knew this film was special when it brought me to the literal verge of tears. Goosebumps were running off of me everywhere. It was so beautiful, it was a truly transcendental experience both emotionally and categorically. Even the little music jingle scattered across the motion picture played in key moments painted a really vivid identity for the character, a very effective spice in the mix.

In terms of complaints, I wish the destinations of important events were explained better. I lost track of what was going on a few times. The villain was also a bit underwhelming. Lacks that memorable factor, especially considering the significance of their position; I felt that they didn't justify that position nearly enough for my liking. There were also some other bits and bobs that didn't link well together but they prove to be small in the grand scheme of things.

In summary, what a fantastic film. Almost masterclass standard. I have never personally watched a female superhero film before but after seeing this, where's all the funding at? Gal has to play as Wonder Woman again!

In other words, no one was yelling "LOOK, I'M A WOMAN AND I'M STRONG"; their strength was displayed in their action. For me, the best parts were the fighting sequences (especially the battles on Themyscira and No Man's Land), Wonder Woman's compassion for people (in a time where women were suppressed, she stood tall because she understood/embraced her purpose), the "fish out of water" plot was done well, Diana and Steve's chemistry (their banter was hilarious; kudos to Gal and Chris), Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope were awesome (Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright were amazing) and most of all, the Amazonians were diverse, which is socially relevant nowadays. A few scenes moved a little too slow for me, which I can overlook as I feel that happens with most origin stories I watch. Overall, I LOVED this film but not as much as my 8 year old daughter. She felt so empowered she turned to me and said, "Daddy, I feel so strong right now, like I can punch through a wall!!!" Expand

Although we saw Gal Gadot make her debut as the character in Batman v Superman, she returns in her own, full-length origin story. In both films, she had some pretty big shoes to fill, as no one has been able to do so since Lynda Carter's TV version, but Gal has done it! Not only that, but she has been able to make the character her own. Bravo to Patty Jenkins on directing the project and for making a Wonder Woman film that the fans can be prove of! Expand

Wonder Woman packs all the punches that its previous hugely male-dominated heroes and villains (Superman, Batman, Suicide Squad) could not muster. Not speaking as a feminist here but Wonder Woman had me rooting for her, falling for her, then some more. It goes to show that when you put faith in the right director (Patty Jenkins) and let her do her thing, the result can be good, great or in this case, spectacular. Can't say the same about Zack Snyder's efforts thus far. If there ever were a saving grace for DC, this is it. Wonder Woman is absolutely wonderful (pardon the pun) and DC should keep it that way, for all our sake. Expand
