Incredible, breathtaking, flawless. This movie is a game changer. Not just for the DCEU, but for the super-hero movie genre as a whole. It's definitely a must see!

It was better than I was expecting actually, I guess with the string of bad to meh movies in the DCAU my expectations were rock bottom, but wonder women ended up as a pleasant surprise.

There are two actresses that play major roles in this movie - one of them wears the same mask for the whole duration, the other one in Dr Poison. This movie could be so much more, if not for Gal Gadot's acting range of a cactus.

The Amazonian princess Diana's quest-come-self-discovery!

From all the superhero films, this was one of the most anticipated. Mainly because of the woman oriented theme. People were desperate to see the solo woman superhero. Today, we have the great visual effects technology, that anything can be possible to bring on to the screen. And actress like Gal Gadot, even better it gets. Yes, it was a wonderful film. A simple storyline, but a well made film.

The Amazonians who are cut off from the rest of the world, is preparing for the battle if Ares returns. All these years nothing has happened, but one day a fighter pilot crash on the cost of their island. Then the princess embark a journey back with him to find, and end the Ares threat forever. But she only ends up in the WWII, and what happens in the following sequence are the rest of the film.

Who would have done a better job than Patty Jenkins. She nailed it, and so set to direct the sequel too. Even the supporting cast was good. DC's visuals always high standards and so this one. Action sequences too amazing. There's lots of changes in the character, as well as in everything. Firstly a nice superhero costume. And connections like Diana's father, the island, all pretty nicely written out. The DC universe just got extended. I can't wait to see 'Justice League'.

This is the best DCEU film to date. It really focuses a lot on the plot, which is lacking in many other DCEU films. It also features plenty of action. I really hope this film can save the DCEU.

Wonder Woman is not just a good comic book movie; it is a great fish out of water origin story. Gal Godot seems to really be coming into her own in this film and was complimented by one of the best supporting casts I’ve seen for a DC film not named the Dark Knight. A few honorable mentions to the supporting cast, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Ewen Bremner, Said Taghmaoui and Elena Anaya were all fantastic. My only gripe with the film is that one of the villains in the film felt like they were miscast for the role. The film had heart, it was funny and the action scenes were great, exactly what the DC film universe needed to get its fans interested in upcoming movies. Expand

The plot and dialogue is very one dimensional at the beginning also, school play standard to be honest....but the whole thing really grows on you as it progresses and is extremely entertaining in and of itself. Its an origin story and a morality tale , one with holes, but it’s fantasy after all so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Chris Pine is the best I've seen him, He really is a good actor when given the opportunity.. Expand

She was able to be a badass and also be the naive fish out of water. Sure, the script took liberties with the Wonder Woman back story and was much more reliant on Greek mythology than either the comics or the 1970s Linda Carter TV show (with Debra Winger as little sister Drucilla). It also changed the present day from WW2 to WW1. The latter choice was probably due to the first Captain America being set in WW2. The "Great War" setting plays though. It was cool to see the staging of the WW photo seen in the truly bad Batman v. Superman. This is by far the best of the DC movies (I don't count the Dark Knight movies as DC movies). DC has been better at animated films. This is entertaining and fun and ultimately a great summer movie. Expand

>
What’s it like? This is the origin story of Diana growing up on the hidden island of Themyscira, her training, and her entry into our world to help mankind. >
Pros:
>
1. For a character that has not been covered in detail in a feature-length film, this endeavour is fresh, interesting and has a couple of surprises.
>
2. The casting of Gal Gadot was perfect. She comes off as beautiful, genuine and caring, the characteristics you would expect of a wonder woman, regardless of whether you had known what Wonder Woman should be like. It's instant recognition, done very well.
>
3. Many of the action scenes were very well done and the use of slow-motion was executed well. When the same thing was tried on BVS, it looked fake.
>
Cons:
>
1. Some of the action scenes looked implausible. I know this is a fantasy film, but my view is that physical laws can be stretched but they should not be broken. That the film chose to break some of them unnecessarily made me feel that the film could have been done better.
>
2. The film slows down at some points and gets awkward at others. Some details that do not make sense have also been left unexplained or explained poorly. Examples of this include how she was able to speak over 100 languages. Furthermore, she should be keeping the existence of Themyscira secret, but there were several people openly talking about the island and no attempt was made to stop this.
>
3. There was one instance Diana sent an email to a certain famous person by simply typing the person's name in the To field. This would not work in reality! That name would need to have been underlined to indicate that her email software knows the real email address and has auto-inserted the email address there. >
4. Gal Gadot has an accent, and it seems that the director had made all the caucasian characters on Themyscira speak with the same accent, so as to explain Gal Gadot's accent as that of the people of Themyscira. It comes off as a little irritating.

On a side note, I think it's quite shameful how they appropriated General Ludendorff as a psychotic villain, when you consider that he is one of the finest field commanders of the last century. In addition we really don't get to much inside on Diana's and Steve's relationship, and why Diana is so attached to him even in the 21'st century. I don't if I should make a big deal about or be apathetic for **** this like makes no sense - It is not indictment of women that the movies they directed didn't earn such moolah ever before. But perhaps, highlighting such may affect the industry in a better way hopefully.
This is a movie that for me stood because of Gal Gadot taking the titular role and it her own in terms of sheer glamour, grace, beauty and strength she portrayed. Rarely before have I been convinced of strong superwoman portrayal. Also Chris Pine and his gang of burly front-liners are much more poignant in men at war storyline, despite how hackneyed and bad the World War background was shown; not that much is expected of superhero movies in that regard anyway.
The thing that makes this movie was worth the watch is it values the meaning of sacrifice and the impact of human lives; despite all their darkness and malevolence, the important choice to be made of what, who and why you want to believe in. That's what Wonder Woman is about.

This is one of the best movies this year so far, and the best DC movie ever.

I knew Wonder Woman was going to be good. There was just too much good press, too many great reviews and too many of my friends that were gushing. I was ready to be disappointed because almost anything couldn't live up to that hype, but it did.

Gal Gadot is a wonderful actress. She really came across as someone who was engaged in a childhood quest and learned the realities of life that make those quests never what they were supposed to be. She did action very well, just more proof that women and action movies should be together. She carried great humor, and just overall sold that role.

I have a love-hate-hate relationship with DC. I did like all the Batman's, I liked the original superman (RIP Christopher Reeves), and I think Ben Affleck did really well as Batman in the most recent Batman V Superman. However lately the DC movies have just sucked, and sucked hard. I did have a bit of a fun time with Suicide Squad, but I did not enjoy Batman V Superman at all. In fact I was worried before the movie came out that Ms. Godot would have sucked. However, this movie has shown that Zack Snyder did her a disservice (and the fans as well) when he didn't focus on her more in that movie. She might have saved that movie.

Oh, and I didn't mention Man of Steel, that is because both the movie and the actor are in the worst list of DC movies (which rank lower than other super hero movies, so it makes it pretty low).

One more point, Patty Jenkins was an awesome director. I suspect most if not all of the reason this movie was great

The good: Everything about this movie is good, the action, the acting, the director, all of it.

The bad: The feeling I am going to have when I go back to the next DC movie that isn't Patty Jenkins or Gal Godot.

It has been a long time since superheroines have their own solo movies on the big screen. Throughout the years of superhero genre, their male counterparts have been dominating the big screen and no movie studios wanted to do superheroines movie due to fear of underperformance such as 1984’s Supergirl and 2005’s Elektra. The fourth instalment in DC Extended Universe features another famous DC Comics’ iconic superheroine, Wonder Woman, in her very first solo movie as the lead character after her big screen debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Sometimes after fighting alongside Batman and Superman in Metropolis and the latter’s death, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gadot) returns back to her normal life in Paris, France where she works as antique curator. She receives a package from Wayne Enterprise and it turns out to be an old photograph of herself and her old allies during World War I which was stolen by Lex Luthor previously. Seeing the old photograph, she recalls her past about her early life and her activities during World War I.

Diana was born and raised in a hidden and mystical island called Themyscira. When she grew up, she was trained as an Amazon warrior by her aunt, General Antiope, although her mother, Queen Hippolyta, was initially reluctant to have her train as warrior. One day, Diana rescued an American pilot named Steve Trevor (Pine), who crashed land on the island while escaping from the German Army. When they caught up to Steve, both him and Diana were joined by the Amazons to fight off the soldiers. Unfortunately, General Antiope was killed in battle.

Steve was interrogated by Queen Hippolyta, which he revealed that the German Army led by General Erich Ludendorff (Huston) and his chief scientist, Dr. Isabel Maru, were developing a new biochemical weapons which will turn the tides of World War I. Steve had stolen Dr. Maru’s notebook containing information about the weapons and he must bring it to his superiors in London, England. Believed that the war was caused by the God of War, Ares, Diana joined Steve on his mission and to stop Ares for good.

Since her debut in the second instalment of the franchise, I knew that Wonder Woman is going to be amazing and I even hope that she will do well in her solo movie. Not only she is able to break the curse of superheroine movies being a failure, she definitely can be as good as her male counterparts.

The performance of Gal Gadot and Chris Pine is amazing. Their on-screen chemistry with each other is very natural and it worked out very well. It is a very good thing that she was not over-sexualised for the sake of fanservice. It would have ruined the quality of the movie. Patty Jenkins deserved to be praised for her direction of this movie and made superheroine movie worth to watch. I really cannot imagine what this movie would have been if this movie is directed by male directors.

The storyline of the movie is good but the villains of this movie lacked character development. Nevertheless, this movie is still fun to watch and it is really worth your time. If you think superheroine movies are bad, this one will definitely will change your mind. Hopefully, this movie will inspire other movie studios to make superheroine movies in the future.

Dc film series continues to improve itself every day.I think they will be able to reach the marvel level.
actually Wonder Woman was a less budgeted film than other dc movies, the visual effects of the film were bad, of course because of the low budget,I didn't find the film's visual effects enough, but it was a nice superhero movie.

I like the film to pass in time of world war, there wasn't much action, so there was no big war.Last scene contained really good messages and was very emotional.I wish I would continue the movie at the same time, but I think we will return to the present, at least Batman will participate in the film. But the main reason why so much appreciation is collected is that I think the universe that is different and that it is really a world war.

I like this movie most among the dc movies,it would be a super movie if they were spending so much money. At the beginning of the film was passed too quickly to pass the subject just wanted to tell the life of a little wonder woman, but could be more beautiful.

I can safely say that "Wonder Woman" is the best DC movie since "The Dark Knight" trilogy. It contains a charismatic performance by Gal Gadot, a mostly well-paced storyline and great action sequences.

Wonder Woman presents some great performances, and surprising, thrilling and emotional story. But unfortunately, it's not perfect! The CGI was most of time bad, and the length is too long for such a movie!

Otherwise, WW is such a decent movie.

This levity really comes from Diana and how she tries to understand the world she is now in, which leads to some very funny scenes. The funniest scenes come from Diana when she tries to interact with people and Steve Trevor has to step in to stop her from sounding crazy. These scenes really give great moments that allow the audience to have a break, but not an unnecessary, from the action. What was great about the levity in this movie was that it felt like it was natural and not forced on the audience and came straight from a good script and screenplay. What I mean by this is, for example, Suicide Squad had comedy but it was forced on us because of all the reshoots that happened after production.

While the action was fun to watch and had me on the edge of my seat, I would say the cinematic value could’ve been better. By that I mean that there is a lot of slow-mo used in the action sequences which took me out of it in a few moments. There were fight scenes I felt didn’t need to be slow-mo and quick angle changes, but that could be due to things out of the control of the stunt team. I would’ve just liked to see some smoother action scenes and less slow-mo because I find it better to follow if I can see seamless action filmmaking. Lastly, the final fight is very mystical and is very reliant on CGI and just took me out of the WW1 feel of the movie and felt like this battle could take place anywhere.

DC finally has a hit in its universe and has given the movie that their fans have wanted since Man of Steel. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and bought into the characters immediately from the start. DC may have finally figured out what makes a great origin movie, a good script and a focused story. This is the first DC movie that was allowed to be set back in time and be its own story, not having the only purpose of connecting to the DC universe.

The DCEU has been a hit and miss so far (Man of Steel was the only great one, BvS was good but had loads of issues and SS was quite bad). Luckily Wonder Woman isn't just good comic movie, it is one of the greats. It is a great origin story, the characters by themselves and with each other are believable and natural, the social commentary the film portrays applies magnificently to the world we live in now. The message the film shows is nothing short of outstanding, sometimes we need an Alien like mentality to truly understand the beauty and the evil of mankind, which Wonder Woman tells brilliantly.

The most commendable aspect of the film is its avoidance of obvious 'girl power'. The film easily could of gone down the route of bashing Men and praising Women but it didn't. They have empowered Wonder Woman without the need of constantly mentioning her gender. Either way this is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight, hopefully the Justice League can match the bar that WW has set.

NO MAN'S LAND was an amazing scene.

It presents a story which, while not perfect in a narrative sense, doesn't fall prey to the all to common Hollywood penchant for politically correct virtue signalling. This is quite a feat, because if ever there was source material rip for feminist exploitation it is Wonder Woman. So I was quite pleasantly surprised to see a heroine both strong, and noble but also unmistakably feminine in all the ways that so infuriate third wave feminists. And that's glorious.

Gadot nails it, ably supported by a strong male cast who complement her without being diminished by her. Very well balanced.

The story itself is enjoyable - though there are some pacing issues and the finale is somewhat overblown and lengthy. All in all - a good experience and a heroine everyone can get behind. And that's important.

Wonder Woman is captivatingly funny, astonishingly beautiful, wonderfully immersive, magically empowering, and charismatically spectacular to watch. This is the first superhero film directed by a woman and even starred a woman on the big screen. The woman that directed Wonder Woman knows how to make this movie very entertaining and more thought-provoking like no other. The action sequences, performances, and special effects were very well executed after seeing this film. She made this movie very organic that pays a homage to Richard Donner's Superman movies and it has the same exact feel as you watch Wonder Woman in action. It is easy to say that Wonder Woman is a MUST WATCH if you're looking for a good movie to watch with your sidekick or family member to have a wonderful time seeing Wonder Woman. I'm hopeful that there's a sequel in the works to see what Diana Prince is up to before or after the events of Justice League. Overall, this movie is wonderfully enjoyable and it's really hopeful that you watch it. Expand

All of the worries have subsided with Wonder Woman. Patty Jenkins is able to succesful juggle different movie genres into one co herant and amazing film. Think part ancient greek epic, romantic comedy, action war movie but it all meshes very well.

Gal Gadot simply kicks ass. Her actions scenes were awesome, Chris Pine does good job of holding his own and not being reduced to a male damsel in distress. Wonder Woman fish out of water and being naive is very much in essence to the comics when she first encounters mans world. Seeing as the screenplay is written by Comic Book Writer who wrote Wonder Woman comics, the faithfulness to source material is evident. A great Super Hero movie that DC needed.

-Clear turning point for the DC Cinematic Universe.
-You can still notice Snyder's colour palette from the second act onwards. However, due to Diana being presented as such a doubtless character, without any of the dread and anguish that brought the most recent itineration of Superman down, the film does not feel dreadful at all. In fact, the chear optimism and attitude of Diana justafixed to such a colour scheme create a good balance. -It suffers from the same problem as every single Marvel film where Loki isn't present: the villains are forgettable and one dimensional. Which is kind of a let down, given that they seem like excelent raw material, like diamonds in the rough. -The CGI is, at times, very poor. Add to that a ton of stones and gravel fling by, and some of the action scenes fall shorter of what they could be. -The jokes were all well placed and never felt forced. Props to "fish out of water" jokes never geting tiresome. -Regarding to the "feminist" aspect of it, I have to say I was impressed. Never did Diana try to preach the ideia that woman are men's equals in the cliche "we can all do the same things!" kind of way. Instead, whenever she is presented to a situation where she's advised to "let a man take care of it", she just brushs it off for one simple reason: she sees herself as man; not in the sense of having male genitalia but rather of being a member of manking.
-It managed to touch greater topics, even if only ever so slightly, mainly the actual nature of man's evil.
-The character development for Steve and Diana is very well achieved. -All in all, i'ts a great pocporn film.

For meI am a huge fan of the Marvel Movies, but quite frankly DC has left me kind of tepid or luke warm on their past movies in the super hero realm. I went to see "Wonder Woman" with mediocre expectations and got totally blown away. For me growing up with Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman on TV it was going to take some doing for me to get that blown away feeling. Well I got a nuke dropped on me, because DC finally lives up to all the hype it got on this one. Gal Gadot is the new "Wonder Woman" and leaves all the rest from the past in her dust. She is simply amazing along with the story, the characters, villains, and visual effects. Even along the way I heard chuckle's and laughter as little one liners and good humor was sprinkled in. The movie had that all along with a little romance and deep feelings thrown in. Even the side kicks for Steve Trevor were colorful and well done. I really enjoyed "The Chief" played by Eugene Brave Rock, he made a comment to Wonder Woman in the movie about the war, and what it was destroying and said his people were destroyed by Steve Trevor meaning the white man a long time ago. Lots of thought went into the script dialogue and this is DC's crowning jewel for Wonder Woman and women in general. Wonder Woman isn't just the princess anymore as now she is the reigning Queen of the DC superhero flicks!! Expand

That said, I was relieved to discover that the film is quite good. Not perfect, and I could see some of the flaws that many of the critics pointed out. Yet these flaws were utterly eclipsed by the films stronger points.

Gadot is certainly new to acting and has little experience, yet it would seem that Snyder and Jenkins have found the perfect fit for the titular character. She plays Wonder Woman as simultaneously strong, confident, naive and vulnerable - a difficult tap dance at the best of times. And while it would have been so easy to emasculate Chris Pine on screen, Jenkins makes the conscious choice not to make Steve Trevor neither a weakling nor a dude in distress. Pine's wry, war weary and cynical Steve Trevor is a good foil for Diana's optimism and hopefulness. The chemistry between Pine and Gadot is excellent and the budding romance is handled with great subtly and finesse. And more marvelous than that, is the decision to not hide Gadot's Israeli accent and ask all the other Amazons to mimic it in their own way. Speaking of which, if there is one point that isn't explored enough, it's the Amazons. Connie Nielsen does regal so effortlessly as Hippolyta while Robin Wright plays the bad ass General Antiope so wonderfully that they are both a joy to watch. I would have liked to see more of Themiscyra and more of Amazons but then this is an action film about Diana after all.

I will admit that the visual effects were not as great as they could have been, especially in the third act. Yet all too many movies fall into the classic Hollywood trap of substituting substance with fireworks. I would also admit that the villains are not fleshed out enough and their motives and characters are hardly ever explored. Yet here too other films of the genre rarely manage to present better villains. I can also understand the repeated criticism that this film failed to rise above the limitations of the comic book genre, especially since it certainly had the potential for it. Yet as a comic book movie fan, I will admit that I still have the same expectations that many of my fellows have - which make the third act ultimately necessary. A sequel is certainly in order and hopefully Jenkins will return to helm along with Gadot. Given that this film has been compared to Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger, we can perhaps expect Wonder Woman 2 to be just as successful as its sequels and transcend the limitations of the genre in a way that this film could not and still be a box office hit at the same time. It certainly has a firm foundation to build upon now.

If DC manages a few more movies on this level, they might be able to rise and shine again.

As the first solo feature film for Wonder Woman since its creation in 1941, it must have been a challenge to find the right person for the role. Who has muscles, beauty, intelligence, charm, physical grace and alacrity, and a thick head of jet black hair? My first choice would have been Catherine Zeta-Jones, but unfortunately Hollywood would want the actress to be under 40. The pickings must have been slim, which is how a former beauty queen and Israeli unknown (Gal Gadot) jumped from relative obscurity to a Hollywood film that has already made over $800 million at the box office. Gadot gives Wonder Woman a multilayered persona and a martial arts mystique with her bullet-proof bracelets, golden Lasso of Truth, and god-given sword, and she also adds to it a mysterious, not-quite-identifiable Hebrew accent.

Princess Diana of Themyscira, a.k.a., Diana Price, is not your average princess. She was born into a secluded island paradise for women only, a mystical place steeped with Greek mythology, whose inhabitants claim ancient ancestry that harks back to Zeus himself. They are Amazonian warriors, who are trained for war from childhood by practicing swordsmanship and skilled hand-to-hand combat. They are mortal, but they have longevity and superhuman strength. The little princess is told by Hippolyta, her mother (Connie Nielsen), that she did not have a father—her mother sculpted her from clay, and Zeus infused her with life. (It's not clear how the island civilization produces babies, although their ancient philosophical treatises conclude that men are in fact necessary for reproduction.) Coincidentally, all the inhabitants of the island speak English with a vaguely Israeli accent.

Diana has even greater strength and skill than her compatriots, including the island's greatest warrior general, Antiope (Robin Wright), who is also her personal trainer. The little girl grows into a perfect picture of royal elegance, courage, and magnanimity. But the peace of the island, which is magically hidden from earthly view by a translucent, watery curtain, is disturbed by the appearance of an American WWII pilot, Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), who somehow permeates the protective curtain (which malfunctions easily) and crashes into the water. Thus begins the journey of Diana to end the "never-ending war," the one prophesied by all the elders on her island. She is convinced that the monster behind the war machine is the god that causes everyone a big headache, Ares, the god of war. It was Diana's destiny from birth to challenge Aries and destroy him, thus restoring humanity to the good creatures that they were meant to be.

Classic and mythical superhero tale though this may be, the script has an underlying theme regarding the paradoxical nature of human nature, as seen from the perspective of a naive, unblemished, and highly evolved being. Wonder Woman might as well be an extraterrestrial as she perceives humanity through alien eyes, often shocked and confused by the contradictions, the indifference, and the ambiguous morality of the human species. "You are getting what you deserve!" she lashes out at Steve Trevor. "It's not about what you deserve," he insists, "it's what you believe." And figuring out what humans believe is a complex and disturbing investigation that may in the end confound even Wonder Woman.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonder Woman is one of my top 5 favorite DC movies ever, one of my favorite superhero movies, and one of my favorite movies of all time. The acting performances were stupendous especially from Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Gal Gadot was terrific as Wonder Woman. The visual effects and action scenes were spectacular and awesome especially the battle in No Man's Land and the final battle between Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Sir Patrick Morgan/Ares. Patty Jenkins direction was excellent. The musical score/soundtrack was fantastic I especially loved Sia and Labrinth's song during the credits. The writing, story, and screenplay were amazing. A+. It's still, however, a decent, entertaining, memorable movie, that tried to be something much more, but completely failed at it, and it still is a "by-the-numbers" superhero movie.

Riding high on its constructive thematic messages of egalitarianism, care-based ethics, and empathy's importance in all forms of human interaction, this movie has a lot to say, and it delivers it these messages with affable poise and little to no derision. Also, this movie simply kicks ass. I've been waiting to see Diana Of Themyscira kick teeth in on the big screen since I was a wee lad. And, boy, does this movie deliver on that front. So much so that I was left nearly salivating for more after that "Directed by Patty Jenkins" credit smacked me in the face at the end of it all. Gal Gadot is a revelation and a star in the making. Chris Pine is about as likable as a character can get. And the villains - though decidedly weaker than most DC offerings - get the job done for me. Here's hoping that WB recognizes this as the watershed moment it is and uses it to course correct for future endeavors.

Well done, Diana. Well done.

Chemistry between the two main characters is palpable. Gal and Chris are great choices for this movie actually. It doesn't feel forced. Only part that was underwhelming and deserves some criticism is the last 30 min. Thats the only reason this movie is a 8/10 instead of 9/10. Movie turned the last act into a complete action montage which would be great otherwise but seemed to rely too heavily on CGI and was longer than it should have been. Other than that small critique, the rest of the movie is very tastefully done and i want to go watch it again in IMAX to get my fill lol

Overall really good movie.

DC has finally made a decent movie for its DCU! Yes, you heard me right! Wonder Woman didn’t suck! Unlike that abomination that that Zack Snyder called BvS, which was an union between a bad batman movie, a **** superman movie and a justice league youtube trailer, Wonder Woman was a proper, decently directed and well written movie. Gal Gadot didnt particularly impressed me with her acting but I thought she was sufficiently compelling here as a out of place, naïve innocent Diana, who just wanted to save mankind by ridding the world of some pure evil. And she got what it took to look determined, confident and hot af from her training as a model. Yes, I would dare say that shes even hotter than Scarlett Johansen’s Black Widow.

Wonder Woman was so powerful, the only way to hurt her is through her belief and the movie did a decent job at poking the chink in her armor. Compared to movie Superman, apart from his obvious weakness to kryptonite, the villains can easily hurt him through kidnapping the helpless ones he loved, Lois and freakin Martha. Steve was a capable spy and soldier, which was showcased in many situations during the run time. Diana’s character growth came in the form of better understanding human kind through war, the dark side of humanity, and the cruelty of reality. Steve Trevor represented everything why human beings deserved Wonder Woman as their savior contrary to what Dianas mother wanted her to believe. Steve himself was a super hero without super power as he taught Diana the beauty of human kind. Much of the conflict between Diana and Steve rose from their difference in pursuing good and righteousness. And in turn, he taught Diana how he was willing to do evil things to do good. He was a silent hero capable of defending himself and what he believed in, when he showed his courage to lead a hopeless suicidal mission without taking any credit. Steve was a great counterpart that helped Diana to understand and grow. The scene of him high up in the air and flash back worked so well because of how well done his character was.
I enjoyed the music quite much. So far I think DC is better at making original soundtracks than Marvel. I mean, do you remember any music from Iron Man or Avengers? DC has the OP Hans Zimmer for the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy and this catchy Wonder Woman tone that was introduced in BvS. When you hear it, you know Dianas gonna do some cool **** There are many moments when they subtly play it in the movie too if you pay attention to it.

The management of time and pacing could be a lot better. There are obviously some bad reshoots which they tried to edit in… Hopping back down with the sword from the roof… The movie had some great action moments but suffered from what most action movies are overusing these days… slow freakin mo… a lot of the action takes would be better if played in normal speed or even sped up. I really didn’t like Dianas slow ascension up the ladder with all those close ups… The final fight seemed a bit lazy too.

WW didn't have as much personality as Reeve's character, but similar innocence and selfless bravery. A really beautiful movie. Without spoiling anything, there's a scene where WW draws the gunfire to herself and I'm not sure why, but I had tears streaming down my face! It was just so brave and selfless (there was probably a powerful score at that moment too). My one complaint was the ending. A little too much on a couple levels, but not enough to change my high opinion of the movie. Would seem wise for future DC movies to bring key decision makers from this film onboard to advise so as to hopefully avoid the trend of emotionally dead films DC has been making. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonder Woman hits all the right beats, it's got good action and a lot of heart. Unlike Superman, she's actually vulnerable to bullets, which gives the film more tension. Gadot is a bit one-note, but that works for most of the film, and her relationship with Chris Pine is endearing and feels natural. There are a few moments when the film flirts with being something more, but the finale doesn't quite live up and ends up being more standard fare. It seems a bit weird to defeat the God of War by out-fighting him, rather than out-thinking him. You'd think Ares would be unstoppable in a fight, and the film seems ready to end with Ares seeing the good in humanity, but then he just kind of growls and keeps fighting. Seems like a lost opportunity. And it's a bit dissonant to see Wonder Woman bemoaning war while she slaughters her way through dozens of soldiers, clearly killing them instead of disarming or incapacitating them. There are a number of smaller issues as well, the film sets up quite a few side-plots that never really develop at all. We're introduced to a number of quirky side characters, but their quirks never amount to anything. The CG was also quite poor: you've got a $150 million budget and yet the lasso of truth looks laughably bad, and why does she need to be in front of green screen for the trench shot, which is basically just a muddy field with some smoke in the background.
