This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It had Action, and Adventure just like in the DC comics Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor both did a wonderful job.The story on the other hand some parts I liked where they explore the part of Wonder Woman character as a young girl who never seen the world and was introduced by a man who accidentally crashed a plain and was saved by Diana and encounter Army who try to invade the island of Warrior women fought them and won. Later on in the movie Diana finds out from Steve Travor that a Great War was happen which was WW1, and she wanted to be apart of that fight because she believe that Aries God of War was involved and wanted to stop it.Steve agree to take her and they go on an adventure the likes you never seen. What made the story disappointing the fact that Steve Travor dies in the movie, in the Comics he was always alive and well in the comics. The Special effects were average not that great but it work very well for that movie. Mostly everything in this movie is executed in a very great way. Either than a rushed first act, Antiopes pointless death and forgettable but not terrible villains, this is a great film. Gal Gadots Charismatic performance, along with her excellent chemistry with Chris Pine should be praised as well. And i very much appreciate Patty Jenkins for not turning this into a full on Feminist film. Expand

Wonder Woman is a great superhero movie, and easily the best so far in the dreadful DC Extended Universe.

The movie introduces Diana, coming from a hidden island full of Amazon warriors. All this is inspired by Greek mythology, but is presented in a unique way (like the original DC comic book stories from decades ago).

After a World War I-era plane crashes in her island, Diana leaves and journeys to the outer world, finding out that WW I is raging, and is horrified when she learns of the effects war has on people. Along with a band of soldiers she enters the battlefield in order to bring an end to this war and save humanity.

Gal Gadot made a short but impressive debut as Wonder Woman in Batman vs Superman, and in her solo movie she shows that she's the right choice to portray the character. Chris Pine is also great as Steve Trevor. Wonder Woman has the same serious tone of the previous DCEU films, but also features some much needed humor and humanity, which helps ground the movie. The scenes where Diana has to adapt to the outside world are funny enough to not reduce the film into a parody.

Overall, Wonder Woman is great. I hope DC have learnt their lessons and their future films will be more like Wonder Woman and not like Batman vs Superman or Suicide Squad.

There are many great things that happened with this movie, all explained by others at length, so I won't go over them again, I'll just focus on some negatives since there are fewer of those:

Gal Gadot's acting could have been better in several ways. Her dramatic scenes have her looking like a teenager _pretending_ to be dramatic like an adult. Most of her fight scenes look like she's going through some motions recently explained to her by a trainer, too concentrated on making the right moves and not paying any attention to her facial expressions: she doesn't look like someone righteously furious in striking enemies down, just someone going through their gym routine or something. By contrast, I was far far more impressed with Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen, whom I wish I could see more of in their amazon roles in the future.

The story feels rushed at times, I think this might've worked better as a 3-hour feature.

The choice of David Thewlis as (a moustached?!) Ares was jarring to say the least, but this may be apparent only to those also currently following S3 of Fargo, where he's playing a positively disgusting character, nothing to do with the awesomeness of a god (though he had every bit of help that could be expected from the script and direction).

Overall still a satisfying experience, well worth the ticket price, but with some minuses I just had to mention, particularly regarding Gal's acting, as everyone who liked the movie seems to be praising her uncritically left and right.

Danny Huston and Elena Anaya were just ok and sometimes their lines and acting were really poor and bothered me a little bit. The main problem with the movie, in my opinion, is that a big part of the action scenes were spoiled by the trailers and tv spots. But it has been a problem with basically all Marvel and DC movies. They show more than needed in the trailers. But even so this movie has a lot of surprises for the audience. Specially Ares. You have seen nothing about him in the trailers. Which is fantastic. Oh i almost forgot. DC new intro for the movies is amazing!!!! Expand

The story was great at its best, Gal Gadot was perfect as Wonder Woman and thank goodness we finally have a bright and colorful DCEU movie! The action sequences were pretty enjoyable. The only issue i have with the movie is the 3rd act. I mean, yeah, you'll understand what's happening, but it's the CG that almost ruins this climactic finale, even though (true story) i wanted to clap at the end of the final battle, but i didn't because the rest of the audience was silently watching it. But in the end,Wonder Woman could be the start of the revolution for the DCEU,with some great acting,a solid story and some (quite) impressive CG.It sure is the start of a great revolution... With Wonder Woman inWith the recent state of the DCEU, I came into this movie with the lowest expectations as I wasn't going to board the "hype-train" for 2.5 years and have be shown an atrocity that was Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice. With Wonder Woman in this case it truly is what the critics say, and praise it for being the "Best DC movie" out of the 4 in the line up. Taking away from the darker aspect and genre we finally have a movie where it is allowed to have wit and humor without the indication it's trying to carbon copy what Marvel is doing, or needlessly be a depressing 3 hour blockbuster like either BVS or Man of Steel. Story telling wise Patty Jenkins directing and script really bought the character to life on the big screen with all the incredible action sequences, interactions with the likes of Steve Trevor, Etta Candy and the main big bad (SPOILERS>>>>>>>) Ares. With that being said the movie does have it's weak points namely speaking the CGI was off in some places that irked me a little during Act 1 and Act 3 being the norm for all superhero movies being the "big boss smash arena". With that being said that takes nothing away from what a spectacular movie Wonder Woman is and truly has revitalised and restored hope and interest that the DCEU will keep up the quality, pace and new bar Wonder Woman has set. Mmmm... yes and no. While the movie really surprises me, being much better than I anticipated, with a strong cast and a Gal Gadot that actually does very well, a story that while very cliched is also nicely paced and with bombastic action, a musical score that while not as emblematic as Batman's or Superman's is very nicely done as at least in some parts capture the nature of the characters with excellence, you get a movie that does justice to the third part of the trinity and the biggest female superhero in comics. On the other hand, this doesn't mean that all the bad and bland done before is all forgotten, this is one shining example that the DCEU can be done right and with justice to the characters, and who they are supposed to be, but it's not enough to fill me with confidence going forward. Nevertheless, Wonder Woman shows not only that super heroines can be done right and have public acclaim (see Marvel? it can be done!). On the bad sides of this movie I have to include the not so well-developed and kind of bland villains (even if Ares in the final battle is neatly done), but also the lack of supporting characters that are well developed or interesting, and the first part on Paradise Island which is not that well handled and ends up a little boring. All in all, I can definitely say that this movie is surprisingly well, and give my recommendation for DC fans and movie fans to go and support it. Good job DC, see you can actually do it if you put a little effort, now replicate it in Justice League and we'll talk about start catching up with Marvel. Final Verdict: 7.7 Expand

'Wonder Woman' strikes an impressive balance between action and comedy, and it does so in a way that is distinctly geared towards female sensibilities--a true rarity in the genre.

Sure, there are times when the movie feels a bit campy. And the final sequence is less compelling than the rest of the film deserved. However, women are packing movie theaters in droves, which not only bodes well for this film, but forecasts a big return (and box office tallies) for the DC Universe in the years to come.

Wonder Woman is not just a good comic book movie; it is a great fish out of water origin story. Gal Godot seems to really be coming into her own in this film and was complimented by one of the best supporting casts I’ve seen for a DC film not named the Dark Knight. A few honorable mentions to the supporting cast, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Ewen Bremner, Said Taghmaoui and Elena Anaya were all fantastic. My only gripe with the film is that one of the villains in the film felt like they were miscast for the role. The film had heart, it was funny and the action scenes were great, exactly what the DC film universe needed to get its fans interested in upcoming movies. Expand

-Clear turning point for the DC Cinematic Universe.
-You can still notice Snyder's colour palette from the second act onwards. However, due to Diana being presented as such a doubtless character, without any of the dread and anguish that brought the most recent itineration of Superman down, the film does not feel dreadful at all. In fact, the chear optimism and attitude of Diana justafixed to such a colour scheme create a good balance. -It suffers from the same problem as every single Marvel film where Loki isn't present: the villains are forgettable and one dimensional. Which is kind of a let down, given that they seem like excelent raw material, like diamonds in the rough. -The CGI is, at times, very poor. Add to that a ton of stones and gravel fling by, and some of the action scenes fall shorter of what they could be. -The jokes were all well placed and never felt forced. Props to "fish out of water" jokes never geting tiresome. -Regarding to the "feminist" aspect of it, I have to say I was impressed. Never did Diana try to preach the ideia that woman are men's equals in the cliche "we can all do the same things!" kind of way. Instead, whenever she is presented to a situation where she's advised to "let a man take care of it", she just brushs it off for one simple reason: she sees herself as man; not in the sense of having male genitalia but rather of being a member of manking.
-It managed to touch greater topics, even if only ever so slightly, mainly the actual nature of man's evil.
-The character development for Steve and Diana is very well achieved. -All in all, i'ts a great pocporn film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While I don't consider myself a movie critic by any means, I absolutely do consider myself to have a PHD on the character of "Wonder Woman". Since her comic book debut in 1941 til now there has been so many depictions of this iconic hero leading to her fame as "most popular female comic-book superhero of all time" So I will applaud Hollywood for at least picking an existing origin and storylines instead of creating their own. The Special effects are amazing, the cast and acting are brilliant. I would have liked Wonder Woman to be depicted as the greatest warrior of the Amazons instead of a demigod. This would have opened the storyline up to the absolute mandatory "Tournament Contest" where Diana would have won a physical competition to have the right to be able to leave Themyscira/Paradise Island with Steve Trevor. Along with the rewarded of "the lasso of truth and tiara" Diana's character in the movie just simply walks Steve out to an awaiting boat wearing this gear. Wait..what? Was this just laying around in her closet are we to assume then? This portion of the movie made zero sense and hopefully left the average Joe still wondering why her custom is red, white and blue? The amazonium gauntlets she wore should have also been worn by all the Amazons, not just Diana. This was omitted I'm sure to give Diana the appearance of being superior to lead to the demigod role, but only made the Amazon race appear weaker to me. Although the beach fight scene was the best and set the tone for the rest of the movie as well. So without this "Contest Tournament " element the movie the plot began falling apart for me.
Aspects that I truly appreciated was the combination of comic and television element from the in-depth creation story of being molded from clay to the Aries battle scene, these were picture perfect from the comic book. The tasting of ice cream for the first time and Steve Trevor's bad phone connection scenes coming right out of the "Wonder Woman TV series with Lynda Carter. All and all it was exacting what the average audience needed to be a summer time box office hit, I just wish a little bit more detail had been added for the comic book and Vintage TV fans. Some of which can still be corrected still in the most definite Wonder Woman 2. First call her Wonder Woman! She was referred to as Diana the entire movie not one time was the words "Wonder Woman" spoken on my count. An introduction or minimum reference to an invisible jet along with a most definite explanation of her anti-aging secret though the timeline.
Movie wow factor 10, plot & storyline a 6....so I rate an 8.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonderwoman is well, well ahead of the other DCEU films, rivalling some of MCUs best. It didn't focus on the fact that the lead role is a she at all, which was a major relief. SFX were very good, and Jenkins balanced the action and non-action quantities expertly. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine's chemistry was amazing, creating some funny and some beautiful moments between Diana and Steve. This film had one of the best endings I've seen in a long time, the death of Steve (at least for me and the group I saw it with) totally unexpected and very, very sad, due to the brilliant acting by Gadot and Pine before, in some of the more intimate moments in the film. You really feel for Gal at the end, wrapped up in her metal prison watching Steve blow him and the plane to smithereens. The sole con worth mentioning is the villains were once again too straightforward, lacking in depth and overall 'wow factor'.

Overall, a film well worth the ticket money, and significantly better than the other DCEU films currently available for viewing pleasure. Go see it.

The movie was intense and heroic, and I think those two words describes the movie. The downer was the love story needed more time its was so quick and fast it was over in a couple of days, because Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) died. Also, enough of all this "dark" themed crap. Ever since the heroin junkie joker died 10 years ago, it seems every superhero movie explores the dark side of the superhero. Dark knight, dark superman, dark papa smurf..etc. Wonder Woman actually had an internal struggle that was compelling and interesting without being "dark." (said with sarcastic batman breath).
Lastly, there's something about Gal Gadot's interpretation. She was vulnerable, inquisitive, caring but strong. She pulled it off masterfully.

I don't if I should make a big deal about or be apathetic for **** this like makes no sense - It is not indictment of women that the movies they directed didn't earn such moolah ever before. But perhaps, highlighting such may affect the industry in a better way hopefully.
This is a movie that for me stood because of Gal Gadot taking the titular role and it her own in terms of sheer glamour, grace, beauty and strength she portrayed. Rarely before have I been convinced of strong superwoman portrayal. Also Chris Pine and his gang of burly front-liners are much more poignant in men at war storyline, despite how hackneyed and bad the World War background was shown; not that much is expected of superhero movies in that regard anyway.
The thing that makes this movie was worth the watch is it values the meaning of sacrifice and the impact of human lives; despite all their darkness and malevolence, the important choice to be made of what, who and why you want to believe in. That's what Wonder Woman is about.

In addition we really don't get to much inside on Diana's and Steve's relationship, and why Diana is so attached to him even in the 21'st century. Dc film series continues to improve itself every day.I think they will be able to reach the marvel level.
actually Wonder Woman was a less budgeted film than other dc movies, the visual effects of the film were bad, of course because of the low budget,I didn't find the film's visual effects enough, but it was a nice superhero movie.

I like the film to pass in time of world war, there wasn't much action, so there was no big war.Last scene contained really good messages and was very emotional.I wish I would continue the movie at the same time, but I think we will return to the present, at least Batman will participate in the film. But the main reason why so much appreciation is collected is that I think the universe that is different and that it is really a world war.

I like this movie most among the dc movies,it would be a super movie if they were spending so much money. At the beginning of the film was passed too quickly to pass the subject just wanted to tell the life of a little wonder woman, but could be more beautiful.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally I really like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. So after seeing those two movies I was expecting this movie to also be in the same grim tone as them. Of course it is slightly grim, but not to that level. And that is a good thing, because it absolutely matches the tone of the movie. Personally I was never interested in Wonder Woman. I find her powers very vague. In one movie she's shown to jump very high while in the other she's shown to fly. In this movie she uses the Godzilla breath to kill Ares in the end but she never uses her this power ever again. But other than that I don't mind watching Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is set in the time of World War I. Steve Trevor accidentally comes on Themiscyra, followed by the German Army. After finding out that there is a war going on, Diana decides to accompany Steve to the men's world and put an end to this war, since that is what his mother has taught her since her childhood. But when the time comes for her daughter to go, Hippolyta isn't able to let her go easily. She fears Diana will lose her innocence once she sees that men's world, and as we have seen in Batman v Superman, that's exactly what happens. The movie tells us how the events proceeded.

It is funny to see Diana trying to adjust to the lifestyle of London. There's actually a scene in which she walks in a store with her sword and shield. We get to see some characters in a pub who are ready to help them fight the war. There is the scene where Wonder Woman runs through the no-man's land where the German soldiers are ready to shoot them down. That was probably the best scene from the entire movie, equivalent to probably the warehouse fight scene from Batman v Superman. The scene has been choreographed by Zack Snyder himself, so it's obvious as to why it was so resemblant. And then later Wonder Woman and Steve bond over a dance and discuss about their lives with the other characters they met at the bar.

Wonder Woman and her friends later infiltrates a German party and find out about their secret plan and reach the airbase where the final fight takes place. Wonder Woman finds out that the German commander is actually Ares, who wanted to make this batle last for as long as possible to destroy humanity. Wonder Woman beats him by turning into a Super Saiyan, but it's not really a happy ending. Steve dies while trying to take an aircraft away that is filled with explosives. Now that Wonder Woman 1984 is out, we know that Steve isn't dead yet. But since I haven't watched it, I don't want to talk about it.

Wonder Woman and its sequel Wonder Woman 1984 are a proof that DC really needs Zack Snyder if they want to make a successful cinematic universe. Neither Snyder should be left all on his own like it was done in Sucker Punch, nor should he be restricted by the studio like it was done in Batman v Superman. He should be allowed to have a partner whom he's comfortable working with and they should keep a check on him, like Patty Jenkins was here or Christopher Nolan was in Man of Steel. Although Wonder Woman has earned a lot at the box office, I think it's popularity is dying out very quickly, just like Aquaman. This movie made me interested in the character of Wonder Woman and I really would like to see a true sequel to this movie.

I like action and/or superhero movies to have a good amount of comic relief to break up the seriousness and action, and this movie had only a very minor amount of that. Some people like that, but for me, it just makes it a little tedious to watch when there's not enough. I also prefer movies with relatable characters, and Diana, even though she's a woman, is a little hard to relate to. For most people, this probably wouldn't have bothered them, but there's just certain things I need in a movie to really take me from just liking it to loving it, and it wasn't quite there. At the time this movie came out, DC hadn't release a good movie since The Dark Knight in 2008 and female-led superhero movies had been saddled with garbage scripts like Catwoman and Electra.

This movie is fine, good even. The first two-thirds are honestly delightful. Unfortunately, the final third squanders a lot of potential. Without going into spoilers, a really neat option to deconstruct and advance the superhero genre gets thrown away in order to put in the standard third act boss fight.

With that out of the way, this is a fun movie. Gal Godot was relatively unproven, particularly as a lead in this big of a movie, but she holds the role down. Chris Pine does as well as he's done in the Star Trek movies; a bit of a scoundrel, but with a heart of gold. Many of the supporting characters are underused, but none of them feel forced. The story does a good job of getting the audience invested.

The villains were some of my favorites. They are (again avoiding spoilers) very appropriate for the time period the film is set in (one of my biggest gripes with the first Captain America movie was that it wasted its WWII setting by giving everyone rayguns). Their superweapon is a very World War One superweapon. Aside from the supervillain shoved into the third act, they're both evil enough and real enough to be satisfying.

Overall, this is a competent film where everyone had been led to expect incompetence. This will not be a movie that you're still talking about two weeks later, but you'll have a fun time.

It presents a story which, while not perfect in a narrative sense, doesn't fall prey to the all to common Hollywood penchant for politically correct virtue signalling. This is quite a feat, because if ever there was source material rip for feminist exploitation it is Wonder Woman. So I was quite pleasantly surprised to see a heroine both strong, and noble but also unmistakably feminine in all the ways that so infuriate third wave feminists. And that's glorious.

Gadot nails it, ably supported by a strong male cast who complement her without being diminished by her. Very well balanced.

The story itself is enjoyable - though there are some pacing issues and the finale is somewhat overblown and lengthy. All in all - a good experience and a heroine everyone can get behind. And that's important.

So DC finally got one right, isn't that what everyone's saying? I completely agree, Wonder Woman was much better than anything else DC has released in a very long time, and it was a pretty great film, but was it as amazing as everyone say itSo DC finally got one right, isn't that what everyone's saying? I completely agree, Wonder Woman was much better than anything else DC has released in a very long time, and it was a pretty great film, but was it as amazing as everyone say it was or are we all a bit bias due to the hype surrounding the film? In the first blockbuster superhero film featuring Wonder Woman since the 1970's, we see Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) sitting in her office, remembering how it all started, and we are thrown back to the Island of the Amazons, where she is a little girl. We see her grow up and go through her training, with her aunt played admirably by the Princess Bride herself, Robin Wright, making an epic comeback. After which, a series of events lead her to meet a man and leave the island to join the war effort in England. Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman and she was truly something special, I mean to take nothing away from her or her performance with this next statement, but I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't point this out. While everyone got caught up in the hype of the fact that DC made a good movie, that didn't center around Batman, and the fact that this film was centered on a female superhero, they failed to see just how unoriginal the story actually was. As I was watching the scenes on this Island, with Diana growing up, not knowing what she really was, and leaving before she was ready, I was very much reminded of Thor, but that was just the first hour of the film. I thought things would get better but they didn't. She becomes this unexpected larger than life hero in World War I, much in the way that Captain America did in World War II. Both of them fought really bad guys who weren't the "main" bad guy behind the war, and then there is the whole God angle, which brings us right back to Thor again. The film was so well done, I think it is more than time we had a strong female hero that young girl can emulate and look up to, and I thought Gal Gadot was a breath of fresh air, who gave an outstanding performance. As far as originality goes, to me it just wasn't there, as it seems the writers took elements from two of the more popular Marvel films and mashed them together. The Bottom Line, Wonder Woman is absolutely worth seeing, however I'm all for original ideas, and I want to see something different, especially at a time when a new superhero film is coming out every month. Well made super heroes movie, at least it's much better than "batman vs superman". Unfortunately character development needed improvement and this movie is more of an action type.

Packed with action and likable characters, the DC franchise is finally improving fast with this wonderfully directed and well written flick. Princess Diana and Steven Trevor as our main characters are both somewhat developed throughout the film, with some personal struggles and even some moral questions are often raised. This is closely interconnected with the main story, where Hans Zimmer’s score and the excellent crafted slow-mo & action-sequences, made one get goose bumps. The WW1-feel and the small (almost romantic) moments between our main characters are also a big plus. The downside to all this is the anticlimactic and cheesy 3rd act, where a “new” and unnecessary villain was introduced with an enormous lack of inside, and a messy structure of nothing more than vague CGI ”Snyder”- action. Still, ‘Wonder Woman’ is definitely DC’s best to date, and very up to expectations from my part!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonder Woman hits all the right beats, it's got good action and a lot of heart. Unlike Superman, she's actually vulnerable to bullets, which gives the film more tension. Gadot is a bit one-note, but that works for most of the film, and her relationship with Chris Pine is endearing and feels natural. There are a few moments when the film flirts with being something more, but the finale doesn't quite live up and ends up being more standard fare. It seems a bit weird to defeat the God of War by out-fighting him, rather than out-thinking him. You'd think Ares would be unstoppable in a fight, and the film seems ready to end with Ares seeing the good in humanity, but then he just kind of growls and keeps fighting. Seems like a lost opportunity. And it's a bit dissonant to see Wonder Woman bemoaning war while she slaughters her way through dozens of soldiers, clearly killing them instead of disarming or incapacitating them. There are a number of smaller issues as well, the film sets up quite a few side-plots that never really develop at all. We're introduced to a number of quirky side characters, but their quirks never amount to anything. The CG was also quite poor: you've got a $150 million budget and yet the lasso of truth looks laughably bad, and why does she need to be in front of green screen for the trench shot, which is basically just a muddy field with some smoke in the background. DC has finally made a decent movie for its DCU! Yes, you heard me right! Wonder Woman didn’t suck! Unlike that abomination that that Zack Snyder called BvS, which was an union between a bad batman movie, a **** superman movie and a justice league youtube trailer, Wonder Woman was a proper, decently directed and well written movie. Gal Gadot didnt particularly impressed me with her acting but I thought she was sufficiently compelling here as a out of place, naïve innocent Diana, who just wanted to save mankind by ridding the world of some pure evil. And she got what it took to look determined, confident and hot af from her training as a model. Yes, I would dare say that shes even hotter than Scarlett Johansen’s Black Widow.

Wonder Woman was so powerful, the only way to hurt her is through her belief and the movie did a decent job at poking the chink in her armor. Compared to movie Superman, apart from his obvious weakness to kryptonite, the villains can easily hurt him through kidnapping the helpless ones he loved, Lois and freakin Martha. Steve was a capable spy and soldier, which was showcased in many situations during the run time. Diana’s character growth came in the form of better understanding human kind through war, the dark side of humanity, and the cruelty of reality. Steve Trevor represented everything why human beings deserved Wonder Woman as their savior contrary to what Dianas mother wanted her to believe. Steve himself was a super hero without super power as he taught Diana the beauty of human kind. Much of the conflict between Diana and Steve rose from their difference in pursuing good and righteousness. And in turn, he taught Diana how he was willing to do evil things to do good. He was a silent hero capable of defending himself and what he believed in, when he showed his courage to lead a hopeless suicidal mission without taking any credit. Steve was a great counterpart that helped Diana to understand and grow. The scene of him high up in the air and flash back worked so well because of how well done his character was.
I enjoyed the music quite much. So far I think DC is better at making original soundtracks than Marvel. I mean, do you remember any music from Iron Man or Avengers? DC has the OP Hans Zimmer for the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy and this catchy Wonder Woman tone that was introduced in BvS. When you hear it, you know Dianas gonna do some cool **** There are many moments when they subtly play it in the movie too if you pay attention to it.

The management of time and pacing could be a lot better. There are obviously some bad reshoots which they tried to edit in… Hopping back down with the sword from the roof… The movie had some great action moments but suffered from what most action movies are overusing these days… slow freakin mo… a lot of the action takes would be better if played in normal speed or even sped up. I really didn’t like Dianas slow ascension up the ladder with all those close ups… The final fight seemed a bit lazy too.

The beginning of the movie on her secluded island is kind of rushed. Conflict shows up way too quickly and when an "important" character is lost I realized she really didn't have much screen time or lines.
I did like, at first, how Diana was a little young and naive when she stepped out into the real world but then I found it annoying as she didn't catch on to how the world really works. She came across as whiny far too often, just like in the clip on this page above.
The side characters were varied and interesting but, again, we really didn't get to know them aside from the main characters.
I found the Ares identity reveal really contrived. The character he was posing as was really in no place to push world war and was actively trying to do the opposite by signing an armistice with the enemy. Seemed forced just for the shock effect. I would have been happier if there was no physical embodiment of war and Diana just realized that violence was inherently a part of man. So, no lesson learned on her part.
Was the beginning of this movie happening during the events of Batman vs Superman? Was that connection or jump through time really needed at all?
A hero's sacrifice at the end of the movie all seemed forced and unnecessary.
Wonder Woman had some great fight scenes and has one of the best superhero scores of this decade. I loved the WWI setting because WWII seems to be more of a focus in Hollywood.
This was definitely the best of the DC films to date, but not the second coming as some are claiming.

Enjoyed the character of Wonder Woman as a kid, and always felt compared to other superhero characters that she deserved her own film.

Which she gets in this 2017 effort directed by Patty Jenkins. Is 'Wonder Woman' as good as the hype and a wonder of a film? Not to me, there are a few things that stop it from being even better. Does it deserve the negativity in a lot of the comments here? While it is easy to see why people would be disappointed, as it could have been better, my answer would be no and that some of the hate is over the top.

There are problems here in 'Wonder Woman'. Part of it is to do with pacing, the film starts a little dull in places and later on as more happens in the story it felt rushed and at times it affects the storytelling which has its muddled moments.

The ending is clichéd and anti-climactic and some of the characters feel underdeveloped, especially the underused and underwritten villain.

However, 'Wonder Woman' is mostly an exceptionally made film, apart from instances of frenetic editing, with a lot of atmosphere in the production design and lighting, audacious photography and special effects that are super slick. The music has a haunting sense of mood and rousing energy, and Jenkins directs with an understanding of the titular character and accommodating the performing of Gal Gadot.

Script has some witty humour, heartfelt sentiment and also takes itself seriously without making the mistake of previous BC Extended Universe (of which 'Wonder Woman' is by far the best, actually being a good film) of being too grim and dark. The action is stirring and often spectacular in spectacle.

'Wonder Woman's' story has its faults but most of it is heartfelt and thrilling. It does the character of Wonder Woman justice with a genuinely interesting back-story that makes her a compellingly real and easy-to-relate-to character who you admire for all her strengths and flaws.

Gadot is superbly cast as Wonder Woman, creating a character that really stands out among the rest of the superhero line in terms of gender and her ideals. Chris Pine is amusing, commanding and likable with great chemistry with Gadot, while Danny Houston clearly enjoys himself as the villain. The rest of the cast do very solidly.

Overall, not a wonder but a long way from a blunder. 7/10 Bethany Cox

That being said, if it wasn't for Chris and Gal's chemistry and acting, it would have been a 5/10 to me. All the other characters were just boring caricatures with no soul. I found it was almost 2 separate movies in terms of look, I guess they needed to match the DCEU so far but the colours and humour made such a difference. Again, I found the only funny parts were between Chris and Gal, none of the other characters were funny even though they tried.

The action was great and then not, you get awesome scenes where you see her just look like a complete badass. I guess how you would expect a super human would look fighting regular people. There is a scene in a city where she runs through it and it's just great in all the outdoor scenes and then when they get indoor and close quarters they use too much slow motion and completely unrealistic movements. It's funny how a 130lb woman running through buildings and jumping up walls looks more believable than her just fighting 5 guys in a room.

Yes, another superhero movie, and the titular heroine is not a minor one. WW made her first comics appearance in October 1941 and has been in publication almost continuously after that.
Constant reader has probably noticed that superhero movies are not my cup of tea, mostly because of lack of originality. So many of them are origin stories, like we really cared about how they came about. So many are shamelessly copying each other on grassroots level, especially 2001’s „Iron Man“ which established a blueprint that no one wants to deviate from. And I’m especially tired of big fights which are always consisting of flying through air and punching each other, destroying stuff in the process, including houses. How many times do I have to watch the same **** thing, year after year?
Having said that, I actually quite like the „Wonder Woman“ movie. It looks really good, old-fashioned in a good way, and the two leading stars are charming.
Chris Pine is effective as the new Indiana Jones era Harrison Ford the world has been waiting for. But most of the attention and praise goes to Gal Gadot as Diana.
She’s just wonderful indeed: beautiful, in good ass-kicking shape and also good at displaying subtle sense of humor which goes long way when the Amazon princess has to meet the modern world (during the World War I).
My biggest concern is the quite lenghty final chapter of the story where the bad guy comes into play. In this part of the movie one can’t deny anymore that the main character’s philosophy is shallow and underdeveloped even by the standards of Facebook Deep we live in.
And the final battle is, of course, as generic as they come in modern superhero movies, consisting mostly flying through air and punching each other, destroying stuff in the process.
Remember how Charlize Theron got an Oscar for 2003’s „Monster“? This is actually the director Patty Jenkins’s first movie job after that, in the meantime she has done mostly TV and this one anthology. Welcome back, great job!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Highly overrated but still pretty good - I'd give it a 6.75. It was a little too long with some dead parts or parts that could've been shortened up.....I'd say a good 10 - 15 minutes could have been trimmed with no ill effects.

Surprised that it wasn't the "men are all idiots and incapable" thing or that it didn't really bash men at all....a pleasant discovery. Of course (as seems the thing in just about every movie today) the "race thing" had to be brought up for no good reason.....the Indian/Arab/Persian dude who wanted to be an actor but has to serve "because of his color"...sigh....and the out of place American Indian dude lamenting and blaming "his kind' (read: white men) for robbing his heritage and land....double sigh. Stuff like that was very unneeded, preachy and out of place in a superhero movie. We know.....we know....

Gal Gadot is drop dead gorgeous though and her smile lights up the screen....also, her acting was not as bad as others have said and she pulled it off.
