And I thought Eternals was bad! Just when I reckoned Marvel movies couldn't get any worse, along came Thor: Love and Thunder. Wow, this Marvel phase of films has really sucked... please avoid this garbage at all costs!

How do you make Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Tessa Thompson and others look really bad on the silver screen? Simple, just employ Taika Waititi to direct another Thor movie. He really must have lucked out on Thor: Ragnarok, as this time around, his direction gives us a movie that falls flat from the opening scene and then manages to just about limp along, right till the very end, embarrassing all involved along the way.

As the credits rolled, my wife asked "did a five year old write this one?" I understood where she was coming from, but I believe five year olds have far superior imaginations to the creative team involved here. Bottom line, Thor: L&T is just a really bad movie, period! As the curtains close, it states, "Thor will return"... let's hope if that's the case, that Marvel has the good sense next time to go with another director.

George Clooney, finally I can forgive you for Batman and Robin.

The first half is abyssmal, I don't think i have ever seen more jokes in a movie , even in a comedy. 90% of them don't even land well. The action is ok but forgettable with some exceptions. The visuals are ok most of the times but god sometimes they are awful. Gorr the god butcher started of well with a sneak peek of his backstory (which was the best part of the movie btw). After that he is pretty your typical marvel villain i have grown tired of.In the end he also has a great scene.
The movie def has a better 2nd half because it get's more serious. Still some stupid jokes but it also has some good moments. This movie might have actually been solid if a lot of the jokes got cut out. It ruins the flow of the movie . The movie also feels strangely tied together imo , i have a feeling a lot of scenes got cut out.
It's time for marvel to give more time for their visuals , plus give a more serious tone for the story because you are ruining source material.

It's funny in some parts but overall you don't really know what's happening and the ending is just terrible. Watch Thor: Ragnarok if you want the best Thor movie.

It tries too hard to be funny constantly and the levity isn't always very effective. The villain, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale was handled pretty well and was decent for a lesser-known Marvel villain. It was interesting seeing a female version of Thor in Natalie Portman's Jane who becomes the Mighty Thor after she seeks out Thor's old hammer when she is diagnosed with stage-four cancer. Of course, the original male Thor is still the main character in the film. Jane and Thor rekindle their old romance in the movie. The movie is fast-paced, as I already established it can be silly, and there is a lot of action and pretty realistic cgi. The movie attempts to gain political points by featuring some LGBT side characters, though this is a minor feature of the film and not very distracting fortunately. Expand

More garbage in a long line of garbage following End Game. It’s a damn shame what the MCU and Star Wars franchises have behind all due to a way off base fringe political ideology.

I loved the previous Thor movies, and Ragnarok was hilarous and fun. This however, was really bad. I have a hard time understanding that the same person who made Ragnarok also made this. Where the jokes landed at the right time in RagnarokI loved the previous Thor movies, and Ragnarok was hilarous and fun. This however, was really bad. I have a hard time understanding that the same person who made Ragnarok also made this. Where the jokes landed at the right time in Ragnarok and were actually funny, in this movie it was the complete opposite. Korg became the new Jar Jar Binks, the romance with Jane drowned in "joke" after "joke, and the enemy never really felt like a real enemy (Bale did a great job tho). It just felt flat, boring and never engaging in any shape or form. Just a continous flow of stupid jokes 100% of the time and Thor - more than ever - felt like a clown, but now without the charm from the previous films. I dont know if its a sign of Marvel going downhill or just the director going overboard, but this was a real disappointment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the major problems I had with the movie was the comedy. Yes, the movie was funny, but it felt like it was trying to input comedy at every possible chance it got. This doesn't necessarily fit into a Thor Movie, especially when the antagonist of this film is Gorr the God Butcher. I had expected this movie to be a little bit more dark and serious than most Marvel Movies, and instead it ended up being trying to be more comedic then them all. Whenever there were any scenes with Gorr, the movie shifted to a more serious tone all of a sudden. The set pieces and designs of certain scenes looked amazing, and the movie had a bit of a nice smooth flow going. The soundtrack was phenomenal. But the ending really had me thinking, "What the Hell?" Basically, in the ending Thor recruits the help of a bunch of Asgardian Children that Gorr had kidnapped, giving them the power of Thor. this scene literally had no importance in the plot whatsoever. Its really clear it was only added there for comedic value. Gorr was significantly nerfed when compared to the comics. He was supposed to be the toughest villain Thor had ever faced. Instead, Gorr feels like another random, One Movie Antagonist, that was wasted. King Valkyrie was also underutilized. In Ragnarok, she actually had a purpose to be there. In this film, it feels like she's just there to be just a side character who helps fight the bad guy. Chris Hemsworth does an excellent job of playing Thor, and Natalie Portman was great too. Christian Bale, as is to be expected, was phenomenal. The action sequences were cool, and might as well be some of the best in the whole MCU. There were some big hiccups in CGI though, such as when Heimdall's son appears as a floating head, that looks like a filter edited into a youtube video, not exactly the quality you expect from Marvel. If it had just taken an approach similar to Ragnarok, and tried to include some more seriousness instead of as much comedy, it would be a 9/10 at least. Expand

The fact is the film's strength / weaknesses have always been there: its' strange mix of irreverent humor and pathos have always been Waititi's tone in Ragnarok. Kudos of course its new interpretation of Thor, a direction that Hemsworth has championed since Ragnarok. It has made the character more of a comedic relief and hence, he is sidelined in his own movie, with other characters doing the heavy, dramatic lifting on his behalf. Other than that though, it's a pretty good addition to the MCU, but not up to par with anything that Phase 3 has concocted in the past. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We’re witnessing a tipping point. The audience is growing tired of mediocre movies that feel more like a product rather than art. Phase 4 has still yet to prove why it exists. Thor: Love and Thunder is the worst Thor movie. It’s the worst MCU movie. Congratulations Black Widow! You’re no longer the worst! For starters, the entire movie plays like an SNL skit - too long and trying too hard to be funny. It actually started of pretty good. Gorr losing his daughter is a compelling motivation and the scene of him burring her was heartbreaking. Followed up by the scene of him meeting his god only to be dismissed was perfect. The guardians with Thor, although a bit too silly was still engaging but after this, I don’t have anything positive to say. Expand

Remember this is the guy who made Hitler a goofball imbecile in Jojo Rabbit. Imho Love & Thunder doubles down on its comical humor and visual swag. It’s fireworks and popcorn all the way.

Ragnarok for me was super enjoyable and I was excited to see the next Marvel installment by Waikiki, but boy was I wrong. Huge opportunities are missed here with the Gorr the God Butcher character, Comedy relief is forced for no good reason, and anytime kids are overused as main plot points I usually roll my eyes. If you want a family friendly film, then go watch Clifford the Big Red Dog and leave Thor alone! I will not include spoilers, but this nonsensical bologna needs to stop. The property and stories already exist, STOP TRYNING TO MAKE THEM YOUR OWN! It's great, funny, not overly woke (but there are a couple of retconned pointless moments) It's funny and has a decent storyline with a great cast. Did I mention it is funny?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Awful movie. Takes the viewers for idiots with bad dialogue and cringe moments worthy of the Office rather than in a Marvel movie. There is a moment when a recurring character loses an arm and is on the verge of dying and the whole scene is taken as a joke. Really embarrassing for the cast. I feel sorry for them. Don't bother watching. Even when it comes out on Disney+. Expand

The events of the film are interesting, so as Thor Ragnarok, but, once again, they prefer comedy towards epicness and drama in situations that are mainly dramatic. Every scene must finish with a joke, -sometimes really silly jokes-, breaking the rythm and climax of the film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Thor is basically a slapstick comedy. Every 20 seconds or so there is a joke of some kind. The goofiness is something one would expect in a Deadpool movie, but even the Deadpool movies are not this over the top with jokes. The God Butcher doesn't do anything like maybe butchering god's. How can you water down Thor? Give his power to about 30 kids and tell them to fight gor's universal threats. This is an example of letting a director do anything they want without correcting him before he drives a movie into the ditch. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If i'm honest, the end is the thing that justifies this rating, it's amazing how from the black and White parte to the ending there are the only that's good, and I was so satisfied when the movie ended. The villian is the best thing from the movie, and it's taken seriously from almost all the movie. But, the fest of the movie is absolute dogsh*t, the humor is trash and the other best character (Jane) is flirting with Thor ffs they were couple for 2 datos man, how can they be so annoying. The other caracteres that interested me were the GotG, and they only are on the first 10 minutes even thou they were on the trailers. Also, special mention to the **** goats they are the most unfunny, stupid and annoying thing on the film, all because the people un Marvel thinks that **** is what makes people laugh. Also, I don't know why people say that Jane should live, because it's a message to Gorr seeing someone related to a god dying that made a good thing for her daughter, that is the opposite to the god from the start, and it would difficult the development of the MCU with such powerful Hero (also It happens the same in the comics). Honestly, I think that you should try to not to rage with the ****ty humor because, overall, the good thing outstand the bad things, and the música they choosed is just epic. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came away from this film feeling depressed. Don't we go to watch films like this for some escapism? Instead I'm forced to watch a beloved character dying of cancer. It makes no sense to me why they decided to do this. The film would have been better if Jane had been cured by the hammer and stayed a superhero. Do we have to have terminally ill people represented in films now? I came home with my girlfriend and we both sat in silence feeling miserable before arguing and going to bed. That's the effect it had on us. Thanks Taika. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I enjoyed it, but I think it had some major plot flaws, likewise some terrible decisions re characterisation. Like by the mid-point of the film, they know where Gorr is, and that he's set a trap for them. So they go to the other gods for help, to have an army to fight Gorr. But when the other gods refuse them, it doesn't occur to them to ask anyone else for help! Like earth has a whole planet full of superheroes! Their goat-boat definitely could have fitted a few more people. Literally anyone would have been a big help, as when they go there's only three of them to fight Gorr.

I think another major decision mistake that is going to have consequences down the line is Zeus' stupid (and vaguely racist) comedic Greek accent. Like it is funny in a dumb sort of way, but it's a joke that gets old fast. And the post-credits scene implies that Zeus is being set up as one of the next major villains for Thor/the MCU. Imagine if Thanos had spoken in a stupid accent the entire time! You wouldn't be able to take him seriously... Any films he appears in in future will necessarily have a totally unserious tone. I feel like they've sacrificed the tone of a whole future film for a stupid joke that only lasts one scene in this one.

Anyway, in general I enjoyed it. I think the tone could have been better at times. Sometimes there is too much humour - but in general it was fine. I think some of the plot really just does not make sense though if you think about it even briefly, and they've dug themselves into a hole re the portrayel of Zeus.

It went by pleasantly quicklyLet me put it this way. I expected worse. Lately, Marvel movies haven't been reaching the quality they once did, so I wasn't expecting anything special, and that's probably why I'm not disappointed in the finale. It went by pleasantly quickly because there was a lot of action, which I thought was pretty epic in places, but there's just one catch. Story-wise, it's not such a joy anymore. There is a lot of humour. A lot. That's a classic with Marvel movies, but here there's perhaps I would say a little more of it. I generally don't like a lot of jokes in superhero movies. I prefer more serious superhero ventures, like Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, but that's beside the point. There were several times in the story where one character was speaking to tell the story and that bothered me. I don't like it much and rarely like it, but sometimes it's cool, but here I didn't like it. Then as I mentioned the humor is really over the top here, which wasn't my cup of tea either. I don't want to spoil, but story-wise it wasn't a total win either. Well it was saved for me by the aforementioned action, which I enjoyed and which Marvel can and probably always will, except for Eternals. That was pretty damn weak in my opinion and Thor: Love Like Thunder is still fine in comparison. So, for me, a good movie that although I would recommend to Thor fans, I might not after all because it gets quite the hate. It's hard to say. My friends were really disappointed with this movie. I'm satisfied though and for me it was fine. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie was bad. I had so many expectations considering how the third installment in Thor was but this was just bad.

The movie tried to add a lot of jokes like Ragnarok but compared to it the jokes here failed, most of them were just lame, to say the least. Then the arcs of the movie were not good, the emotional ending of Jane did not hit well tbh. THe story too was just bland and had nothing compared to it compared to recent MCU films which were plot stuff. The CGI too was bad and many parts could easily be told a green screen this is a big downstep from previous MCU films

But one major highlight from the film was Gorr. Bale just nailed the character he was scary and it was amazing, every moment of him on the screen was amazing. The scene where they fought for the hammer was beautifully done and acted. However he too deserved a deeper storyline on what happened to his daughter and more, it felt like the director was just trying for a shorter film tbh.

TBH an extremely disappointing marvel film only good thing was the fight for the hammer and Gorr, otherwise, it was just bad

First off, Christian Bale is terrific in this. I don't think I've seen him chew up this much scenery since "The Fighter." There's also a set piece involving his character midway through the movie that I think really fires on all creative cylinders (visuals, choreography, performances, etc.) I only wish the rest of the film maintained the feeling of that sequence. "Love And Thunder" finds the MCU at its most tonally confused since "Iron Man 3," limping by on some truly weak character work within the titular protagonist. We're constantly told that Thor's issue is that he keeps everyone "at an arm's length" and that he's unwilling to attach to others. I find this pretty rich, considering the fact that Thor has always maintained an air of emotional availability to me. Honestly, I'd say he's probably one of the top three Avengers I'd want to hang out at a bar with. The starting point of this whole arc felt like something better suited for Black Widow or Hawkeye, not the guy who we've seen greet an old "friend from work" by screaming "yes" through an open-mouthed smile. I digress, of course, but this is really just an encapsulation of the kind of issues we're dealing with in a screenwriting sense. Overall, this isn't a bad movie. I don't even think it's the worst "Thor" movie. The humor lands 7 out of 10 times, let's say. The ending is mostly satisfying. There is, however, a lot that I think could have been hashed out in the writer's room. Expand
