Has completely left my mind. So forgettable aside from Bale who isn't in it enough and isn't as fleshed out as he should be.

Theres too much MCU comedy that doesn't always hit in the places it doesn't need to be. Hemsworth is great as Thor but the character hasn't changed much in 4 solo movies and I was hoping to see some actual character development for him in the film. Also on the positives, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale are awesome but the film wastes them in this frustratingly formulaic film that really doesn't aim to change much in the grand scheme of the MCU. The majority of the movie suffers from extreme emotional whiplash. To put things into perspective, first scene, (not of the movie) a piece of metal is jealous over a man wanting another piece of metal, immediately skip over to a woman feeling angsty because her mother died of cancer, then, again immediately (within the same scene) another woman pulls out a speaker calling it her weapon and the girls bob their heads night at the roxbury style to it. I know people complained about the CGI when this came but seriously who cares? The story is not even there. I literally laughed out loud a bunch of times, rare for me! Reading all the pro reviews, looks pros wanted it to be both dramatically deep and a superhero comedy. Guys, you can't have it both ways. I note 12 VFX houses participated in this, several hundred creative people. This is the likely source of much of the visual splendor and flow of narrative tracking up on the screen. Thor Ragnarok seemed more superficial to to, too much of a comic book. With Christian Bale anchoring the villain here, Love & Thunder seems the superior effort. The goats added a lot for me too, Marvel's version of Edvard Munch's "The Scream"! Expand

If I were to summarize the movie, it makes the beloved character of thor, a god from Norse mythology, one of the most beloved characters, look a total dunce. It's almost like the writers want to emphasize how thor is an asshat, selfish and jealous man while Jane Foster, a WOMAN, is superior, selfless, strong, and dutiful.
They were able to make Thor, THE GOD OF LIGHTNING look pathetic. This is such a scummy way to keep your other characters on a pedestal. Jane Foster's character could have been so much better if only it wasn't built upon the fall of Thor's character. MCU keeps on alienating me, as a viewer watching it from my early childhood. I am all for strong female characters, but that's the key. 'Characters', not just 'I look more competent because men are incompetent. Even as a diehard fan, I no longer feel the urge to watch the movies because all I see are my heroes turning into clowns.

Unfunny. Too unserious. Wayyy off the mark. Nice visuals though.
Too much of anything is never good, and that's written all over THOR 4. The right parts (in plot and the cast) were present to have made what could arguably be one of the best MCU movies out there (and outright the best MCU PHASE 4 movie so far) but somewhere along the line, it got botched. Thor is over a thousand years old, he's lost his father, mother, brother, home (and favorite hammer), and he's gained some friends over the years that might've made his pain bearable, but there's no way he could have ended up being this... This WAY! There're just too many stupid plot lines in this film. Thor from Endgame/Infinite War is still the best Thor iteration yet; that brooding, weight of the world on his shoulders hunk of a god aura he had, not this wise-cracking, unfunny jock ****

Taika Waititi said he wanted to make a movie to piss off fans and he really did. He could have used Jim Carrey instead of Chris Hemsworth since the film is full of Dumb & Dumber-level jokes (including grimaces).
They put in a lot of good actors (Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Christian Bale) and they just didn't exploit any of them. On Russell Crowe's part, amazingly, they made him do a little dance wearing a skirt. And one of the deleted scenes from the movie was Gorr The **** God Butcher doing a dance.
The last scene worthy of Thor was in Infinity War.
Marvel has become complacent with the huge success of pre-End Game movies and has started to deliver any **** as audiences watch by osmosis simply wanting to be inside the next amazing cycle.

All the negative reviews were made by users who didn't understand that Korg told the story.
And he likes to sometimes overstate things.

Example 1: The first opponents make Metal Hands

Example 2:
The love story is told as you would expect it to be told by someone who wasn't there (similar to the astral projection of the children).

There are far more of these examples in this film. One is not watching "actual" events, but the visual representation of Korg's hyped-up storytelling.

"Kill Your Idols" ("Ammazza il tuo Pantheon")

Guns N` Roses or a concentrated load of fun with a lot of heart.
I liked Thor Love and Thunder a lot, it had a lot of great and even surprising scenes, but despite all that, I liked the predecessor a little bit more.

I was really amazed which figures you get to see here, which also gives a great view for the future. The antagonist was also well chosen and quite stylish. Bale does it really well too.

But here and there I was a bit overwhelmed or one or the other joke just didn't work at all. Thor 3 had made a rounder impression and ultimately entertained me even more.

But Thor delivers again and after the She-Hulk torment it was a pleasant Marvel trip again. 4/5 flashes 8/10

The film is obsessed with being "gay" and saying absolutely nothing about that concept. Characters don't have arcs as much as they have "declaration of gayness"... and then that's it. In Ragnarok we learned that Valkyrie was part of an elite warrior squad who was slaughtered and she was the only one left alive. In this film she's exactly the same... except definitively states that she's gay, which I would SWEAR we already knew. Nothing BECOMES of that. That's, apparently, enough as it is. The same goes for Korg, who goes nowhere in the film except to definitely state that he's gay. Like... okay? 50 percent of the films running time is wasted on vague sillyness that doesn't further the plot and aren't even "jokes" per say. Just madcap silliness. This is especially egregious because the film has a FEW great ideas in the "god butcher" concept and the "dying of cancer and in superheroic denial". Even the "Thor has lost everyone he loved" meat is left on the bone.

We got a crappy movie instead of the good one that this has every right to be, and it's all due to not asking more out of Waititi.

As ever, this film features some great CGI and there are some funny pop culture references etc. (Guns 'n' Roses!). I can't say I was too keen on the shrieking goats/llamas though. The way Thor talks to his hammer is still pretty amusing (this is not meant as a euphemism). It is partly a romantic story this film, though not exclusively I suppose. A pretty good watch - nothing spectacular but its certainly good. though it does try to be a serious film, while also a madcap, borderline parody type superhero film and that does clash somewhat. I'd still recommend it overall as I did enjoy it for the most part and I'd say the acting and CGI makes it worth seeing, even if it is a little random and perhaps not as sharp as it could be. Expand

The story is interesting when you think about the characters evolution, but the part about Thor wasn't especially well written. The actors are surely the strong parts in the movie, especially Portman and Bale. Bale is holding the film at the beginning and the end. The action is decent. The visuals are a mix bag but they completely missed Zeus. He looks and feels incredibly cheesy. They had the actor but put him in a ridiculous outfit and bear/hair. It's dialogs is sometimes appalling. In fact all the middle section is atrocious and the Norse mythos are just horrible. Why we don't see Bale, actually killing Gods, but only the aftermatch, is just stupid. In that sens Bale was a waste of talent. Putting Portman in full makeup when in Thor is also distracting, because it's pretty bad. At least you get some very touching and action moments in the ends. That redeem the middle section. The music was fine, but I didn't like the recycling of the same rock song. I give the movie 62% mainly because this story is broken in the middle and the characters dialog are just too bad in so many places. And many of the jokes don't lands very well. Expand

I actually liked it first and was leaning towards an 8/10. Then I noticed more and more flaws. Lets start at the beginning. The Thor movies were a staple and the previous movie Thor Ragnarök was the best of them. So we all were happy that director Taika Waititi returns. However phase 4 of Marvel is a bit divisive to say it mildly. It taught me and my friends not to watch the movies in the cinema without consulting reviews by trustworthy critics first. As the reviews came in it looked like a disaster. So I waited until it came to Disney+. After the introduction of a character I wont spoil it follows the set up of Avengers Endgame were Thor travels alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy. However he has some sort of a midlife crisis when he gets an emergency message. Someone is on a quite successful journey to kill all gods in the universe. This is the set up. They use a famous story arc from the comics for this and I hesitate only to say the comics are better because of Christian Bales great performance. While the story is decent to good the characters feel a bit weird. Thor behaves a bit strange and also Jane and Valkyrie feel sometimes forced into character changes that are not explained well. Don't get me wrong I like both the characters and actors. The cast with Chris Hemswort, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and, Tessa Thomson are great. Also I like all the children and cameos in the theatre scene. The fights are amazing and the final battle is quite entertaining. Never underestimate a bunch of …. The humour was the most divisive part in other reviews. A lot of people say the use too much humour and it drags the movie down. I disagree as it was not that overburdened for me. However not all jokes are good and this drags it down a little but to be fair there are some incredible humorous and entertaining scenes. The special effects are top notch as always. The sets and costumes mostly deliver and I would praise the movie in this regard. The negatives are that like I said the characters are a bit strange compared to before, the story they follow from the comics is better and I do not like a bit of the arcs and developments. Overall I am a bit divided. The more I think about the movie the lower my rating goes. It tricked me not enough into making me believe its awesome. I give a 6/10. Expand

And then the rest happened...so inconsistent in tone, no cohesiveness between the scenes, plot loopholes - a lot of things just didn't make sense or were stupid in a bad way. The fight scenes were also dumbed down multiple times which were disappointing.
On a positive note I do have to highlight the visual effects, the humour and Christian Bale's performance, and I would like to nominate him as one of the top 3 best villians in MCU.

I'd say it's a fun movie albeit forgettable. Thor is still a great character but it isn't enough to carry the movie.

The elements the movie use to move the (bad) plot are pretty lazy, such as how Jane becomes Thor or how Thor 'leaves' the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gorr wasn't that great in HQs and he isn't anything at all in the movie. He is not menacing, his motivations don't really make sense considering how the plot moves.

The most promising arc (the god city thingy) is just thrown away by the famous naked-Thor scene, being solved in 10 minutes and not showing anything at all.

Lastly, the movie tries to build a "relationship" with Thor and his axe, and that is too thrown away in the end, along with all the development he had since Infinity War. Oh well.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This film had great potential, unfortunately wasted to make way infinite jokes and pseudo-comic moments that interrupt, in my opinion, the continuity and immersion of the viewer into the story: Gorr, the killer of the gods. A beautiful script could have been done with this premise. But some changes were needed, in my opinion. Thor could have stopped being a fool from the beginning to the end of the movie, more subplots could have developed. Instead the result is a noisy, sometimes cringe movie. The part with Zeus/Russell Crowe was also very embarrassing. Positive note for Christian Bale, but his talent has been wasted in such a superficial plot. Natalie Portman excellent in the role of the Mighty Thor; otherwise, the movie is enjoyable in small sections, but disappointing overall. MCU/Disney believe that using the same card (Waititi) just because a movie (Ragnarok) came out great, can guarantee success. Not really, you know? In this movie, everything is exaggerated, the comic tempos, the music, the jokes (endless, endless jokes ...) in the end aren't even funny anymore. On the other hand, the great inclusiveness for Korg's fathers and Valkirya's dead girlfriend is very positive. This aspect could have been even better if the plot had been supported by decent dialogues and story development. In the end, it is like a parody of Thor.

I must say that the whole phase 4 of the MCU is turning out to be a mega galactic disappointment, and the products of the TV series are enough proof of this. With the exception of Loki, WandaVision and as movie Spiderman - No Way movie, the rest of the products are really mediocre.

I kinda feel the magic finished with Endgame. They should really work harder to give the audience some good movies. Special effects and good feelings are not enough to make a good product.

It was very funny to me, very entertaining, gorgeous to look at, and I very enjoyable. Even the kids stuff wasn't overbearing. The real highlight was Christian Bale in the interviews for this. You don't normally get to see too much of who he really is, and that one incident (on Terminator Salvation, which I actually agree with him on, despite how he handled it), has haunted him. He's actually delightful and a breath of fresh air, because he genuinely doesn't seem to give a **** Overall I highly recommend this. Its full of cringe moments and desperate tries to emulate Deadpool humor, but never even closely succeeding. The story was just butchered by this movie.

The actors and effects were fine - thats why I rated 2, otherwise it would be 0. How they were told to portray their respective roles was not.

I enjoyed this movie. I know it is lambasted for being tone deaf at times and not finding the balance between humor and drama....but I didn't find it too bad.
While it does have a lot of comedic moments, it does know when to take itself seriously, especially towards the climax. The villian and emotional core of the movie still resonate, and I don't think it deserves the critical reception it has received.
Sure, the actual plot is very simple and it does little for the overall narrative of the MCU Phase....but so do most current MCU movies. As a stand-alone film it's funny, entertaining and does contain a genuine and heartfelt message.

This is, where the MCU truely hits rock bottom, makes me wonder, if I have treated other movies too harshly. 80% of this abomination is a redefintion of the word "bad", you'll probably find the movie poster next to the word in the Oxford dictionary. 20% are quite good and have a redeeming quality, but that is not enough to save the movie. In fact, the good things make the bad ones worse and there are a lot of bad scenes.

The main problem is, at it's core Thor Love & Thunder is a very serious movie with some interesting, adult topics and a really great villain on top. Yet the movie decides to be a caricature of itself, constantly ridiculing itself and trying so hard be funny, you'll grind your teeth.

From a technical perspective the movie looks really bad and plain wrong. There are beautiful scenes, but most of the time you think you are watching a game lifestream. All in all, don't watch, or prepare to be disgusted.

Everything else in this film is dribble. Thor murders gods in their home so he can stop someone else from killing gods. Thor literally uses child soldiers to fight the final boss. And cancer is treated like a joke, a shallow plot device.

With marvel no longer riding the coattails of a successful run of films, the weak effort in the writing of this film this really stand out. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Upon a second rewatch, my opinion of Thor: Love and Thunder has really plummeted. I'm not a fan of how this movie turns EVERYTHING into a joke. The main subjects of this movie are very serious, an angry mortal on a mission to kill all of the gods and Thor's mortal love dying of cancer. They still manage to turn all of this into a joke. Seriously, this movie can't go 1 minute without one and most of them fall flat. Everything is loud; from Thor's new armor, to the screaming goats, to the over-the-top villain. What's worse is there are few big directions the movie good have gone that would have made it amazing.
Visiting Omnipotence to get an army of gods to fight Gorr? That's a better movie than what we got.
Gorr kidnaps a bunch of children and Thor gives them all his power which is portayed to laughable affect. Now imagine if that was a group of regular Asgard adults; we could have a second generation pantheon of Norse gods and could see the likes of Balder, Hermod, Angela, Tyr, etc.
Please stop with the comedies, Marvel, and give us some adult serious story lines for a change.
The choice to using 3 Guns and Roses songs multiple times through out the movie is too much GNR. If you don't like gnr I guess your are boned.
Korg is ok in small doses but terrible as a narrator. I cannot take anything he is narrating seriously, but then again this whole movie doesn't take itself seriously.

But I went back the second time and I began to see some flaws. The film is big and looks marvelous. Michael Giacchino's new theme for Thor is one of the highlights of the film. The orchestral rock is absolutely badass. I feel like Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher should have had much more to do since he only occasionally comes into play to cause trouble. He has a great opening scene then afterwards we don't really see him being the mad man like we have anticipated. Natalie Portman is great when she is Jane Foster but when she is playing Mighty Thor...not so much. There are some cringe worthy moments when Portman is throwing down with the baddy. Chris Hemsworth is Thor and we have come to love him throughout the years in the MCU and he is lovable as always. Taika Waititi's vision is very unique and that is a delight to see in this ever expanding universe. Even though the film doesn't do much to expand the MCU and it is basically Thor and his buddies doing stuff, it is an entertaining romp from start to finish. Expand

As usual for the MCU, 'Thor: Love and Thunder' is a good watch. I did want more from it, though.

Chris Hemsworth remains the star of the show, I'm adding nothing new by saying he is just perfect for the role. Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi and Natalie Portman all make for good support. Christian Bale is also someone I enjoyed, I like the look of his character but kinda felt that I wanted to see more of him - it's like we see a beginning and an end, but part of me feels like we coulda had something in-between.

The special effects are solid, as is the music; even if the track choices aren't the most creative. I probably would've shortened the run time a little, though that isn't anything all that noteworthy to be honest. There are some funny moments in there, which is always something I expect from a Taika Waititi flick.

As for me and my own personal Thor ranking, this - like the 2011 original (also 3) - isn't one of my favourites (fwiw, I enjoy 'Thor: The Dark World' and 'Thor: Ragnarok' (both 4) way more) but it's still a fun enough time that I'd recommend it.

I simply cannot (cannot, I tell you!) believe they didn't just call this 'Thor Four' btw...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A disappointment. There seems a total disconnect between the comedy scenes with Thor and the heavy dramatic scenes with Gorr the God Butcher (including child kidnapping) and Jane Foster (battling cancer). It definitely feels like the success of Ragnarok went to Taika Waititi’s head and no-one had the power to tell him that a lot of the jokes he has in Love and Thunder aren’t funny and too often undermine the Thor character who comes across as a bit of a dill by the end. The one actor who shines is Russell Crowe who is fantastic as Zeus. The CGI is very ordinary too. Expand

Fantastic visuals with interesting characters but the plot is TERRIBLE. Also, there are too many jokes that make hard to take the movie serious.

If you only care about dumb fun, special effects, and jokes, you will probably love this movie. However, if you're a Marvel fan who is truly invested in these characters, their arcs, and their legacy, then this film is a complete slap in the face. This film felt more like a bad rom-com fanfiction rather than a quality, A-List Marvel film. Taiki takes characters with complex, deep arcs throughout the MCU timeline and treats them as nothing more than a laughingstock. This film revolves around the love of Thor's life slowly killing herself just to be with him one last time all while being hunted by a man who wants to kill Gods out of revenge for his dead daughter. The film's plot is incredibly dark and sad, yet we're expected to laugh at it. The opportunity for deep, developing moments for the characters and the villain in this story are thrown away for cheap gags.

The Guardians, Valkyrie, and Korg are completely useless to the storyline that it begs the question of whether they should even be in the film at all. Not only are they useless- the writers make them look completely pathetic and laughable as well. While the whole story is all about Thor and Jane, Taiki completely wasted the other characters and hurt their overall reputation and development. He turned them into characters they were never meant to be.

Taiki failed with this film. He does not manage to hold up to the bar that Ragnarok set whatsoever. There is no divide between serious plot progression and comedy and the writers show a complete lack of respect for the characters and their arcs. While there are some genuinely funny moments and entertaining scenes, the lack of effort put into the characters and their development is inexcusable.

I think this movie isn't all that interesting, I mean the villain looks like Voldemort from Harry Potter, and in the end, it's just kids beating the living **** out of him. But honestly, this movie was just simple fun. It wasn't all bad when it comes to its action, it definitely isn't perfect or amazing, but it's pretty solid, and if you like action, but funny movies as well you will surely like this one a lot. It's a good movie at most. Expand

It's a nice little movie, some jokes are fun, but unfortunately there are many, bad cgi than all the other new projects, gorr is cool but often looks like jared leto's joker. The movie starts well and goes downhill, very good soundtrack.
